I want to ride my bicycle!

Uusien leimojen myötä löytyy uusia haasteita! :) Löysin A Passion for Papertrey -blogin, jossa tämänkertaisena haasteena on tehdä musiikin innoittama kortti. ;) ). Koristeina on ruuvihaaraniittejä ja pieniä klemmareita. Niin, ja se biisi kortin taustalla? No tietysti Queenin Bicycle Race! :)

New stamps, new challenges! With my newfound Papertrey passion I found a new blog - A Passion for Papertrey! The challenge over at A Passion for Papertrey this time is to make a card inspired by a song. For this card I used the bicycle and the sentiment from the Everyday Button Bits set. I heat embossed the bike in black and added some retro looking buttons as wheels so that they'd go together with the checkered paper which looks a bit retro to me. The colours in this card are a bit boyish and I gave myself a hard time when I realised that I automatically thought of boys when I saw the bicycle stamp - girls ride bikes as well so there's no reason to make only 'boy cards' with bike stamps, is there? I think I'll have to make another card with the same stamp and with a bit more girlish colours... ;) As embellies in this card there are two brads and two tiny paperclips. Oh, and the song that inspired this card? Well, Bicycle Race by Queen of course! :)

Kuumailmapalloja - Hot air balloons

One of the first stamp sets that I fancied from the Papertrey Ink was Everyday Button Bits. Do I hear you ask 'why'? Well, let me tell you that I love stamps (that is shocking, I know... ;) ) and I love buttons so can there be anything better than a stamp set that combines both? Well, no, not in my opinion! :) For this card I used the hot air balloons and the sentiment from that set and some seriously cute buttons. The papers are by BasicGrey and the inks I used are Versafine and Distress Inks and that about sums it up. I submit this card to the Finnish challenge blog P*skarteluhaaste where the challenge #92 is a bingo and my line is 'round shapes-a rhinestone-3 papers'.

Mukavata viikonloppua! :)

I'll make this a quick post and just finish off by saying thanks for your time today and if you have the time, please leave me a comment so I know you've been here and can come and visit you in return! Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend! :)

Papertrey May Blog Hop Challenge

Tekstileima on Blooming Button Bits -setistä.

I have drooled over Papertrey Ink's stamps for ages but so far haven't been able to order anything due to the shipping charges. But when I heard that my Aunt was planning on coming to Finland for a holiday I saw that I had a chance! Ha! I ordered heaps of PTI gear to my Aunt's address and she promised to bring them to me - isn't she lovely? So I saved on shipping charges and got meself plenty of new goodies to play with - hooray! :D So this is my first ever PTI card and I decided to join the PTI May blog hop with it (talk about jumping in feet first...). So to make the card I die cut the biggest flower from felt and the yellow flower from cardstock with Beautiful Blooms II dies and stamped the yellow flower with a stamp from the same set. I glued some cardstock on the "bottom" of a clear plastic button to make it the right colour and tied some twine to it. I die cut and stamped the leaf with a die and a stamp from the Turning a New Leaf set. The sentiment comes from Blooming Button Bits set. I stamped half of the blue cardstock with a tiny flower stamp from the Beautiful Blooms II set and punched some lighter blue cardstock with a Martha Stewart punch and added some ribbon to it. I also added a few rhinestones to the card.

Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit! Aurinkoista keskiviikkoa! :)

Thanks for your visit and for any comment you may wish to leave me! Have a great day and if you're here for the blog hop, then have a happy hopping! :)

Of mice and men ;)

I usually make two cards for each of my nephews' birthday, one for us to give and one for their Grandma and Grandpa to give. I've already earlier shown you two cards for my nephews, one for the 8-year-old and one for the 4-year-old, here come the last two for them. On this first card there's Skater Ian from The Greeting Farm coloured with ProMarkers. I made the background with Kim Dellow's tutorial, I just left some of the paper edges free to give the card a bit raggedy boy feeling, and added some Distress Inks to it. I cut the number from cardstock and covered with one layer of clear UTEE to give it a nice wet look. As embellies there are some baker's twine and a safety-pin on Ian's hat. The sentiment says 'Congrats'.

Tämä toinen kortti on melko simppeli (taas kerran..). Taustana on Hero Artsin hauska ristikkoleima, jota hieman täytin asiaankuuluvilla sanoilla. Leimakuva on Whiff of Joy Henry Celebrating Mouse Distresseillä väritettynä ja Spellbindersilla stanssattuna. Koristeena tähtiklemmari ja paperitähti.

The second card is quite simple (once again..). I stamped the background with Hero Arts Crossword Background and filled the crossword with some words (my nephew's name, age, and the word 'congrats'). The stamped image is Whiff of Joy's Henry Celebrating Mouse, I coloured him with Distress Inks and die cut with a Spellbinders die. As embellies there are stars, a paperclip star and a paper star.

These were the last birthday cards for this spring, phew :) Thanks for your visit and for any comment you may wish to leave me! Have a fab Tuesday! :)

Yksivärinen - Monochrome

Tein tilauksesta onnittelukortin miehelle ja tästä sukeutuikin varsin mieluinen itsellenikin, ei ehkä vähiten leimasinten takia... ;) Korttipohjassa käytin Hero Artsin Envelope Patterns -leimaa (leikkasin korttipohjaa aavistuksen pienemmäksi, että sain leiman peittämään koko pohjan) ja tuo saniaisleima on Hero Artsin Three Ferns. Saniainen on leimattu akvarellipaperille, joten paperin 'röpeliäisyyden' ansiosta leimakuvasta tuli eläväpintainen.

I was asked to make a birthday card for a man  and as it turned out, the card became quite a favourite of mine largely due to the stamps used. I stamped the card blank with Hero Arts Envelope Patterns stamp (I had to cut the card slightly smaller so that the stamp would cover the entire area) and the focal point is also a Hero Arts stamp called Three Ferns. I stamped it on aquarelle paper which gave the image a nice unevenness. I die cut the aquarelle paper with a Spellbinders Labels Two die and didn't add any embellishments as I thought the card didn't need any, simple did it once again ;) The sentiments means 'congrats'. Oh, and the whole card is stamped with one single colour (DI Crushed Olive).

Thanks for your visit and for any comments you may wish to leave me, have a great weekend! :)

Aluevaltauksia ja ATC:tä - Broken boundaries and some ATCs

I broke some boundaries... I received a gorgeous ATC from Kissinia (please see here, mine's #5), so I wanted to make one for her. I've thought about making ATCs before but never got round to it (well, to tell the truth, I've always frozen at the idea that they're supposed to be artist trading cards and I don't really see myself as an artist...). So now I broke some boundaries inside my head (always a good thing to do! ;) ) and made my first ATCs! I don't know if there are some ATC rules apart from the size (which is 64 mm x 89 mm) so if I'm breaking some artist rules... well, then I am! ;D

Tein samantien kaksi sarjaa, tässä ensimmäinen Bird of Colour:

While I was at it, I made two series of ATCs, this is the first, Bird of Colour:

#1 Blue  VARATTU/TAKEN: Kissinia

#2 Green  VARATTU/TAKEN

#3 Yellow  VARATTU/TAKEN

Tämän toisen sarjan inspiraationa toimi eräs lempparibiiseistäni, Queenin Spread Your Wings.

The inspiration behind the second series is one of my all-time favourite songs, Spread Your Wings by Queen. I just love this video, you gotta love young Freddie and his sunglasses..! :D The ATC series is called Wings:

#1 Spread Your Little Wings   VARATTU/TAKEN

#2 Fly Away Far Away  VARATTU/TAKEN: Kissinia

#3 Fly With Me  VARATTU/TAKEN

Mukavaa torstaita!

So there, the ATCs. Because Kissinia gave me one of her ATCs, she's the first to pick her favourite but after that the rest of the ATCs are up for grabs! If you'd like to have one of these, please let me know! :) (And no, you don't have to make me an ATC back if you don't want to ;) ). Thanks for your time today and for any comment you may wish to leave me! Have a fab Thursday!

Surffausta - Surfing

Tekstileima on Stempelkellerin.

This card is a birthday card for my nephew #4 who soon turns 4! ;) I haven't used a TGF stamp in ages so thought I'd give Surfer Ian here a good inking up. I coloured him with ProMarkers and added some blue Distress Ink to his background, partly with a sponge to give a wave-like feel. I tore the green paper to give it some wave-like feel as well - you can see it, can't you, the waves? ;) The papers I used are by BasicGrey and as embellies there are some paperclips, ribbon, tiny staples and clear dew drops as splashes of water. The sentiment says basically 'many congrats'.

I submit this to the P*skarteluhaaste challenge where the challenge this week is to use the sketch provided.

:) Mukavaa maanantaita!

Distressiressiä - Stress with Distress

Some time ago I spoke a bit carelessly ;) I said that I couldn't imagine colouring a DoodleFactory image with anything else than ProMarkers. As it turned out, the lovely Pammu decided to throw me a challenge: to colour a DoodleFactory image with Distress Inks. And what did I do?! I accepted the challenge! Oh, pity me! I had some considerable stress with Distress (hee hee!) but I have to be a woman of my word... So here come the Distress Doodles!

Ajattelin aloittaa varovaisesti ja värittää pienen doodlen ja hieman verrytellen mennä kohti isompia doodleja. Otin työn alle Caramellon, tuon ihanaisen doodlekarkin, jonka väritys sujuikin ihan mukavasti ilman suurempia ongelmia. Caramellon kuorrutteeksi lisäsin hieman Rock Candy Sticklesiä ja taustaksi BasicGreytä ja ColorCore-kartonkia. Koristeeksi laitoin napin, jonka päälle laitoin siihenkin Rock Candy Sticklesiä ja Glossya, lisäksi hieman narua ja timantin.

I decided I should start off gently and colour a small Doodle and thus ease my way towards the bigger Doodles. So I coloured Caramello - without big problems. I topped Caramello with some Rock Candy Stickles and put her on top of some yummy BasicGrey papers and ColorCore cardstock. As embellie I used a button which I covered in Rock Candy Stickles and some Glossy Accents and added a ribbon and a rhinestone to it.

Lähikuvaa / A close-up:

Sitten kohti isompaa doodlea.

Then towards a bigger Doodle. This is the lovely Rose to whom I could add some shading as well. And if I may say so, I coloured Rose quite well! :) Actually I think this is one of my best colourings to date and I'm quite proud of it! :) Besides Rose I used some October Afternoon paper, some basic beige coloured cardstock, some old lace, rhinestones and a sentiment that goes something like 'Congrats/happiness to this day, congrats/happiness to days to come'. In the end, this card went to a lady who turned 85 and who likes pink and by request I added the number 85 to the card (to the right corner on the beige cardstock ). I cut the number out of cardstock, coloured with pink Distress Ink and added some Glossy Accents on top of it. I just didn't have time to photograph the card with the number :/

Lähikuva / A close-up:

When I said that I couldn't think of colouring a Doodle with anything else than ProMarkers, I was actually thinking more of the Creatures type of DoodleFactory image. So, I had to colour a Creature as well. This is Snargle and he's congratulating my nephew who soon turns 8. I also used some October Afternoon papers, some brown cardstock, some buttons and a sentiment typed with a Dymo that says 'Congrats, congrats'.

Lähikuva / A close-up:

So there they were, the Distress Doodles. What do you think? I think I have to broaden my views a bit when it comes to colouring a DoodleFactory image in the future, maybe they can be coloured with other mediums as well ;) Well, to be honest, I had such fun using the Distress Inks, somehow they gave a whole different feeling to the Doodles than ProMarkers do. I might still reach towards the ProMarkers in the future with Doodles just out of habit but I hope I'll remember the Distress Inks as well when thinking about colouring them - if for nothing else then to avoid being stuck in a colouring rut! ;) And thanks to Pammu for challenging me! :) (Although from now on I'll be a bit more careful with what I say... ;D ).

Hyvää äitienpäivää! - Happy Mother's Day!

It's Mother's Day today so hooray for all Mums!!! I made this year's Mother's Day cards together with our son (last year he was just a bit too young for that.. ;) ). We decided to make fields of flowers for which I made the backgrounds with Distress Inks. For the grass part I tried to make some flower stems with the edge of my ink blending tool to make it look a bit more lively. It was our son's job to make the flowers with finger paint and let me be totally impartial and objective and say that he did a mighty fine job with it, the flowers look awesome! ;) He got quite into making art so I think that we have to get some more finger paints (at the moment we only have blue colour). I attached the piece of art to some dotted Bazzill cardstock with no embellies as I wanted the picture to take the center stage.

We actually made three Mother's Day cards, one for each of his grandmothers and one for his greatgrandmother (the age gap between our son and his greatgrandmother is some whopping 90 years! They are the youngest and the oldest in our family :) ) but the card for his greatgrandmother is already on its way to her and of course I forgot to take a picture of it, which is a shame as the artistic imput of our son was quite stunning and unique on it as well :)

Happy Mother's Day to all Mums and happy Sunday to every one else! Thanks for your visit and for any comment you may wish to leave me! :)

Lisää kiitosta - More thank yous

Tekstileima on FinnStamperin. Kuva on muuten luokattoman huono, jotenkin todella sinisävyinen, tuo korttipohja on oikeasti vaalean kerman värinen eikä tuollainen sinertävän harmaa.

As I told you earlier, I was asked to make a thank you card, so I made three of them, a little selection to choose from. Here are the rest of the cards. The person asking for the card wanted it to be "for a grown-up's taste", some embellishments were OK but preferably no buttons or such (grown-ups don't like buttons??!). On this card I used the rubber stamp 'Casual' by Penny Black which I stamped with brown ink on aquarelle paper. Earlier I had applied some Distress Inks with water to the paper. I then attached the paper to brown cardstock and then to the card blank. As embellie there's just simple brown satin ribbon. The sentiment says 'Thank you' (hard to guess, wasn't it? ;) ). The piccie is really bad with awfully wrong colours, sorry for that, the card blank is actually light cream colour and not blueish grey as it seems in the piccie.

Toinen korteista (jonka kortin tilannut ihminen sitten valitsi) on hieman runsaampi.

The second card on this post is the one which the person asking for the card chose. The flowers are stamped with an Inkadinkado stamp and grey Versafine ink and coloured with white gently shiny/glittery watercolour (which in the piccie looks grey and dirty but in real life is actually white and gently shiny and very pretty, but you just have to take my word for it :) ). I raised the middle one with 3D foam pads. The papers I used are by BasicGrey with some cream cardstock. As embellies there's some lace and the white thingies the name of which I just don't know in English - sorry! The sentiment says - can you guess... - 'Thank you'. And once again the piccie's too blueish and the colours look all wrong...

Mukavaa viikonlopun alkua! :)

So all I had for you today was some bad photos and lots of explaining. Thank you for enduring it ;) and thanks for any comment you may wish to leave me! Hope you have a lovely start on your weekend! :)

Mustesormi - Inky finger

This post is not about cards, it's about hands. My hands, to be exact. The lovely Kissinia is having a challenge, she wants to see your hands after crafting with all the ink and what-not stains. I just have to take part in this, if for nothing else then just to let you know where my blog's name comes from (Mustesormi = Inky Finger). So... May I present to you, my hands (if you're squeamish, please don't look! ;D ):

So as you can see, I had fun! ;) But you'll have to wait until later to see exactly what I was doing when I got my hands into the state they are. But now go and take part in the challenge, you have the whole of May to do so.
