Hyvää ystävänpäivää! - Happy Valentine's Day!

Ja mikäpä sanoo 'hyvää ystävänpäivää' paremmin kuin kaksi tikku-ukkoa?! ;D Tämä Stampotiquen leima on mielestäni niin ihana ja hauska, meni kyllä mun lempparilistan kärkeen. Tikku-ukkojen seurana tässä on Tim Holtzin tipuja orrella, Hero Artsin Friends Definition taustalla, koristeena timantti ja washiteippiä ja paperit on BasicGreytä ja Echo Parkia. Väritin nuo pallot tuossa Echo Parkin paperissa (tuossa piparkakkureunassa siis) Copicilla, mätsäävät paremmin tikku-ukkojen päihin :) Niin ja tikku-ukkojen päät on leimattu erilliselle paperille, leikattu irti ja liimattu leimakuvan päälle, kropat väritin Kuretaken Wink of Stella -kynillä.

Can you imagine anything better on a Valentine's Day card than two stick figures? Well I can't! ;D I've fallen hard for this Stampotique stamp, I think it's so cute and funny, it really became one of my favourites. To accompany the stick figures on this card there are the Tim Holtz birds, the Friends Definition by Hero Arts on the background, a rhinestone and some washi tape and some papers by BasicGrey and Echo Park. I coloured the dots on the dotty Echo Park paper with a Copic marker, that way the dots match the stick figures' heads better :D Oh and I paper pieced the heads of the stick figures and coloured their bodies with some Wink of Stella pens by Kuretake.
If, by any chance, you're wondering why my Valentine's Day card is not a lovey-dovey card dribbling with hearts, here's your answer: in Finland Valentine's day focuses more on friends and friendship and not really on love and lovers. So this is a card for a friend and as much as I love my friends, Valentine's Day in Finland calls for different kinds of cards than Valentine's Day in some other parts of the world ;)

Sydämiä ja haleja - Hearts and hugs

...ja vaaleanpunaista väriä - hempeällä tuulella siis ollaan! :) Tätä korttia väkersin melkoisen kauan aikaa, en tiedä mikä siinä oikein vastusti, mutta lopputulokseen olen lopulta - yllättävää kyllä - melko tyytyväinen. Ainekset ovat aika simppelit: Artistic Stamperin Baroque Background valkoisella embossattuna, sydän stanssattu ja leimattu Hero Artsin kirjekuoriruudukolla, hieman piparkakkureunaa, helmiä ja tekstileimasin.

...and pink colour - are you feeling warm and fuzzy inside already? :) This card took me a long time to make, I moved things around, tried this and tried that and nothing seemed to work. Finally, however, it all somehow came together and now I actually quite like the end result. I heat embossed the Artistic Stamper's Baroque Background with white embossing powder, die cut the scalloped border and the heart, stamped the heart with Hero Arts Envelope Pattern, added some pearls and stamped the sentiment ('hugs'). Simples, eh? :)

Lisää tageja - More tags

Erilaisia tageja on nyt tullut tehtyä ja läheteltyä useampikin - hassua sinänsä, sillä en yleensä tageja niinkään tee. Laitoin tuossa päivänä muutamana ystävälleni kortin (josta en tietenkään huomannut ottaa kuvaa..!) ja kortin mukaan laitoin pari tagia hänen tyttärelleen ihan vain huvin vuoksi. En ole ihan varma, mistä 12-vuotiaat tytöt pitävät, joten tein tageista hieman erilaisia siinä toivossa, että edes jompikumpi osuisi lähelle sitä, mistä ystäväni tytär pitäisi. Ensimmäinen tageista on melko Papertrey Ink -painotteinen: stanssattu doily, leimakuva ja teksti ovat kaikki PTI:tä. Lisänä pari nappia, Echo Parkin ihanaa pallopaperia ja satiininauhaa.

It seems that I've been making a lot of tags lately and sending them around the world to different people, which is kind of funny as I don't usually really make tags. Last week I posted a card to a friend (and just guess did I remember to take a photo of the card... ;) ) and I sent these two tags to her lovely daughter, just for fun. I'm not really sure what 12-year-old girls like so I made the tags a bit different from each other in the hopes that either of them might be to her liking. This first tag is a real Papertrey Ink tag as the die cut doily, the stamped image and the sentiment are all PTI. I just added a couple of lovely buttons to the stamped image, some gorgeous dotty Echo Park paper and a pink satin ribbon.

Toisessa tagissa on sitten The Greeting Farmin tytsy Inktenseillä väritettynä. Taustan leimasin Hero Artsin ihanalla Zig Zagilla ja koristeiksi laitoin washiteippiä (Teippitarhasta), pari stanssattua sydäntä, timantin ja nimen stanssatuilla kirjaimilla. Halusin tagiin hieman blingiä, joten laitoin taustan ohuisiin viivoihin, punaisen sydämen reunoille ja stanssattuihin kirjaimiin Kuretaken Wink of Stella -kimallekyniä.
Osallistun tällä toisella tagilla Lauran korttihaasteeseen, teemana tällä kertaa 'kirjaimet'.

For the second tag I used a stamped image by The Greeting Farm which I had coloured with Inktense pencils. I stamped the background with the gorgeous Zig Zag stamp by Hero Arts and as embellies there are some washi tape (from Teippitarha), a couple of die cut hearts and a rhinestone. I spelled my friend's daughter's name with some die cut alphabets. I also wanted the tag to have a little bit of bling so I used some Kuretake Wink of Stella glitterpens on the name, on the edges of the red heart and on the thinnest zig zag line in the background.
I'd like to submit this tag to Lauran korttihaaste challenge blog where the theme this week is 'letters'.

Fly

Sain toissapäivänä valmiiksi myös pikaisen ja melko simppelin art journal -sivun gessokurssin opeilla. Levitin tähän gessoa Crafter's Workshopin pilvi-sapluunan avulla, annoin kuivahtaa ja sitten sudin päälle akryylimaaleja. Pilvien kohdalta pyyhin hieman gessoa esiin 'peipivaipsilla' ja lopuksi liimasin stanssatut kirjaimet. Siinäpä se :)

Here's a quick and rather simple art journal page I finished the other day, made it for the gesso course. I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil to apply the gesso with, let it dry and then applied some acrylic paints on top. Then I used a baby wipe to wipe some of the paint off of the clouds to reveal the white gesso. Then I just glued the die cut letters on the page and that's pretty much it :)

Happy happy joy joy!

Tein tähdellisen CAS-kortin uusilla ihanilla tähtileimoillani ja sain idean laittaa tuon tähden kortin sisälle näkymään kannen aukosta, kun huomasin, että osa näistä Artistic Stamperin tähtileimoista menee yksiin Spellbindersin tähtistanssien kanssa (ja ihan totta, tein kortin tiistaina ja minkälainen kortti olikaan yksi mallikorteista eilisessä CAS-kurssipäivässä? Aukollinen kortti, jossa oli leimakuva kortin sisällä! Ha, kerrankin olen edellä aikaani! ;D ). Taitoin siis korttipohjan akvarellipaperista, stanssasin siihen tähden ja leimasin stanssattuun tähteen tähden (kuullostaa todella järkevältä... ;) ) Distressillä ja ennen leimaamista suihkin päälle perfect pearls -vettä. Kanteen stanssasin pienemmän tähden ja tein siitä kohollaan olevan liimaamalla päällekkäin monta stanssattua tähteä. Näin sen saa koholle korttipohjasta mutta tähden alla ei näy sivusta katsottaessa aukkoa ja tarrapaloja vaan siisti valkoinen reuna - kurssilla opittu kikka tämäkin! Tekstiksi leimasin - tavoistani poiketen... - PTI:n tekstin, kun niitä suomenkielisiä ei nyt ole.... *nurinaa nurinaa* Tuleeko muuten kellekään muulle mieleen tuosta happy happy joy joy:sta yksi parhaista piirrossarjoista ikinä, Ren & Stimpy? Se oli niin hyvä, saisi kyllä tulla uusintana!

I made a little star card for the CAS course with my new lovely star stamps. I got the idea to place the star inside the card when I noticed that some of these star stamps by The Artistic Stamper go together with the Spellbinders star dies (and honestly, I made this card on Tuesday and guess what kind of card was one of the model cards yesterday in the CAS course? A window card with the stamped image placed inside the card! So ha, at least once in my life I am ahead of my times! ;D ). Anyways, I folded the card from aquarelle paper, die cut the star and then stamped a star on the die cut with a Distress Ink and before stamping, I misted the rubber stamp with pearlized water. I placed the star on the inside of the card, added another star on the front which I made 3D by glueing several die cut stars on top of each other. You get the same effect with foam pads but this way, when you look at it from the side, you just see a clean white edge instead of a 'hole' and foam pads. That's one trick I learned on the course! I finished the card with the PTI sentiment - does it remind you of Ren & Stimpy, the cartoon? I LOVED that cartoon, it was the best ever!!

Chester ja hyviä uutisia - Chester and some good news

Taas tarvittiin poikakorttia, kun miehen veljenpoika täytti 12 vee. Näitä poikien synttärikortteja tarvitaan niin monta vuodessa, että välillä tuntuu, että alkaa ideat loppua... ;) Tämä kortti lähti oikeastaan siitä, että halusin kokeilla ihanan SannaS:n minulle tussitestailuun lähettämää 4cc-kartonkia (kiitos, ihana!!! :) ). Leimakuvaksi valikoitui tyylikäs Chester ja täytyy sanoa, että tuo 4cc menee kyllä ostoslistalle, sen verran hyvä siihen oli ProMarkereilla värittää. Chesterin taustalla olevan Tim Holtzin bingo-kortin leimasin siniselle paperille ja ympyröin siitä tuon numeron 12. Koristeeksi ruusuke ja washi-teippiä. Paperit on BasicGreytä ja onnea-teksti Merjan ja Pammun setistä.

My hubby's nephew turned 12 and again we needed a 'boy card'. The demand for cards for boys is quite big in our family (hubby has four nephews and I have four nephews) so sometimes I feel like I'm all out of ideas for boys... This card came together out of my wanting to try out some new cardstock that the lovely SannaS sent me. The cardstock is really smooth and therefore good for markers, as I found out when I coloured Chester with my ProMarkers. I stamped a Tim Holtz bingo stamp on light blue paper and circled the number 12. As embellies there's a rosette and some lovely washi tape. The papers are by BasicGrey and the sentiment says 'congrats'.

Niin, ja missäkö sitä washi-teippiä on? No ruusukkeessa tietenkin! Stanssasin tuon ruusukkeen vaaleansinisestä paperista ja laitoin siihen kapeaa tummanruskeaa ja beigeä washi-teippiä koristeeksi ja hieman myös vahvistamaan ruusuketta. Päälle vielä sininen nappi.

Where's the washi tape, I hear you ask? Look at the rosette more closely - it's there! I added some narrow washi tapes (dark brown and beige) on the rosette that I die cut out of light blue paper, both to decorate the rosette and to make it a bit stronger and easier to fold. Then I just added the blue button as centre.

Edellisessä postauksessa kerroin päiväni olleen hyvä. No, se päivä parani vielä enemmän, kun sain sähköpostia Teippitarhan Janinalta. Hän oli nähnyt postaukseni ja kiitokseksi Teippitarhan mainitsemisesta ja heidän teippiensä käyttämisestä Janina halusi antaa minulle ilmaisen teippirullan! Ihanaa yllättävää ystävällisyyttä!! (Kiitos, Janina, vielä tätäkin kautta! :) ). Lisäksi hän kutsui minut kylään Teippitarhan blogiin!! Wohoo!! Tämä on ensimmäinen kerta, kun olen "esillä" missään - mukavaa, että se tapahtuu Teippitarhassa! :) Kiitos kutsusta ja mieluustihan minä kortteineni kylään tulen (vaikka hieman jänskättääkin...). In my previous post I said that I had a good day. Well, that day just got better when I received an email from Janina @ Teippitarha shop. She had seen my post and as a thank you for using their products and mentioning them she wanted to give me a roll of washi tape for free! Wasn't that kind! And, what's more, she asked me to come over and visit their blog with my cards! Wohoo! I'm so happy, I've never been asked to do that before! Happy AND nervous.... Oh, and if you live in Europe and want to order some gorgeous washi tapes, happy news for you: Teippitarha delivers to Europe as well!

Washi-teippiä ja hyvä päivä - Washi tape and a good day

Mulla on uusi ihastus! :) Washi-teipit! :) Löysin tieni Teippitarhaan ja ostin itselleni pari rullaa teippejä - nii-in, mulla on uskomaton mielenlujuus, sain rajoitettua ostokseni pariin rullaan... Järkyttynyt olen tästä minäkin! ;) Ajattelin koittaa tehdä mahdollisimman simppelin kortin, joissa pääosassa olisi washi-teippi ja tällainen siitä tuli. Sekä korttipohjan että tuon neliön reunat on kantattu teipillä, neliö kohotettu tarrapaloilla ja siihen liimasin stanssatun tähden. Lisäksi tekstileimaa Merjan ja Pammun setistä ja siinä se, taas kerran. Osallistun tällä seuraaviin haasteisiin:

I am smitten! On masking tapes/washi tapes (whichever term you want to use)! :) I went on a shopping spree in Teippitarha and, lo and behold, I was able to restrain myself - I only bought a couple of rolls of tape! I know, I'm shocked myself... ;D So, with my new loves at hand, I thought I'd make a really simple Christmas card. I applied the tape on the edges of the cardblank and on the square in the middle, glued a die cut bauble on the square (which, by the way, is raised with foam pads) and stamped the sentiment ('Christmas joy'). That was it, simples! Again! ;) I'll submit this card to the following challenges:

Tänään oli iloinen postipäivä. Voitin joku aika sitten Paolo Coelhon uusimman kirjan 'Alef' Coelhon nimikirjoituksella varustettuna (!) ja tänään se tuli postissa. Minä ainakin tiedän, mitä tulevina vapaahetkinä teen... ;) Tänään on hyvä päivä! :)

I received some great post today. Some time ago I won Paolo Coelho's latest novel 'Aleph' and today it came in the post. And what makes this copy even more special is the fact that it is signed by Paolo Coelho himself!! I'm so happy, this is a good day! :)

Kaikenlaista stanssattua - A die cut this and a die cut that

Tähän korttiin tuli käytettyä vähän kaikkea enkä loppuviimein tiedä, toimiiko koko kokonaisuus... Stanssasin tähän joulutähden Marianne Designin stanssilla, doilyn Papertrey Inkin stanssilla, nuo vellumin reunat Nellie Snellenin stanssilla, tagin leimasin 7Gypsiesin leimalla ja leikkasin irti ja tekstileima on Merjan ja Pammun setistä. Koristeina on kaikkea mahdollista helmistä ja tiu'uista nuppineulaan ja huopanappiin ja paperi on BasicGreytä. Ajattelin osallistua tällä P*skarteluhaasteeseen, jossa haluttiin käytettävän kakkupapereita. Hmm, ihan kaupasta ostettua paperista kakkupaperiahan tässä ei ole mutta mikäli stanssattu doily käy, niin mukana ollaan! :)

I used a bit of everything in this card and I'm not sure whether it works or not in the end... I used heaps of dies for this, a poinsettia die by Marianne Design, a doily die by Papertrey Ink, and a border die by Nellie Snellen (the edges of vellum are cut with it). The tag is a stamp by 7Gypsies, I stamped it on white paper and cut out and stamped the sentiment on it (which says 'Merry Christmas'). As embellies there are everything from pearls and bells to pins and felt buttons, and the paper is by BasicGrey. So, as I said, a little this and a little that! I'd like to submit this card to P*skarteluhaaste challenge blog where the challenge (ending tonight!) is to use a doily. I know there's no store-bought paper doily anywhere near my card but if a die cut doily is ok, then I'm in! :)

Ruusukkeella - With a rosette

Tässä näytille yksi simppeli kiitoskortti, jonka tein ennen kuin Maailman Suloisin Pieni Poika ja minä saimme kauhean flunssan :| Pohjan tähän tein vetelemällä Distress Inkiä (Dried Marigold) tyynystä suoraan paperille ja sen jälkeen leimaamalla päälle Hero Artsin Envelope Patternilla ja Tea Dye DI:llä, jota sudin hieman paperin reunoihinkin. Tea Dyella tein myös tuon ruskean "palkin", johon leimasin ruskealla Versafinella FinnStamperin kiitos-leiman. Koristeeksi väkersin ruusukkeen, jonka keskelle laitoin kohokuvioidun tähden (tosin se kohokuviointi ei taida sieltä kovin hyvin näkyä) ja ruusun. Lisäksi koristeina siellä täällä timantteja.

Here's a quick thank you card I made just before this awful flu hit the Cutest Little Boy in the World and I :| I made the background by sweeping Dried Marigold Distress Ink straight from the pad to white cardstock and then stamping it with Hero Arts' Envelope Pattern and some Tea Dye DI, I also added some of that to the edges of the cardstock. I coloured the brown banner also with some Tea Dye DI and stamped the sentiment ('thank you') with brown Versafine ink. As embellies I used a rosette I made, and added a dry embossed star (although the embossing probably doesn't really show..) and a rose to it. There are also some rhinestones here and there.

Haamuleimausta - Ghost stamping

Osallistuin tänään päättyneelle Inspiration Showcase -nettikorttikurssille (voisi sanoa, että tuli tarpeeseen tuo inspiraatio.. ;) ), jossa käytiin läpi erilaisia tekniikoita. Käytin tähän korttiin vesileimausta, eli mustetin paperin Distress Inkillä, sumutin taustaleiman veden ja perfect pearlsin sekoituksella ja leimasin. Jäljestä tuli mukavan hohtava, tosin kuvasta sitä ei taida oikein nähdä. Tekstin leimasin vellumille ja jostain syystä siitä tuli hieman "mustepilkkuinen" mutta annoin sen olla, koska mielestäni se näytti hauskasti käsinkirjoitetummalta. Ruusun pyörittelin huovasta ja lisäsin muutaman heteen (ilman niitä varsia) ja lehden stanssasin Papertrey Inkin stanssilla, molemmat ovat siis huovasta.

I took part in the Inspiration Showcase online card course (the inspiration came in quite handy, I'll say ;) ) where Jennifer McGuire taught us different card making techniques. For this card I used 'stamping with water', so basically I just added some Distress Ink straight from the pad on white cardstock, misted some water mixed with some perfect pearls on the stamp and stamped the background with it. It gave a beautiful, shimmery, ghost-like image - altough the shimmer doesn't probably show in the piccie. I stamped the sentiment (which says 'thank you') on vellum and it did come out a bit blotchy but I left it anyway as it looked almost hand-written that way and I liked it. I made the rose with a Sizzix die and the leaf with a Papertrey Ink die, both from felt.

Sellainen siitä sitten tuli. Toivottavasti se ei tuottanut pettymystä teille -hassuille!- jotka olette korttiani odottaneet (kiitos muuten siitä, tuntuu kivalta -vaikkakin hassulta- että joku odottaisi näkevänsä tekeleitäni :) ). Pinkkejä roiskeita jouluksi - Pink splatters for Christmas

Jee, ensimmäiset joulukortit on tehty!!! Aloitin ihan tällaisella simppelillä linjalla, ei mitään ylettömän jouluista mutta joulukortti silti. Ostin joku aika sitten Suomalaisesta alennuksella muutaman kanvaasilehtiön, josta nyt sitten leikkelin korttiin taustan. Tuolle taustalle roiskin vedellä ohennettua pinkkiä akryylimaalia pensselillä. Pinkistä aaltopahvista leikkasin sitten neliön, jolle liimasin Marianne Designin stanssilla stanssatun joulupallon, jonka koristin yksinkertaisella satiinirusetilla - pinkillä tietenkin :) Olivat sen verran helppoja tehdä, että tein tällaisia heti muutaman. Wahey, I've made my first Christmas cards for this year!!! I started with these simple and not-so-overly-Christmassy cards just to ease myself into the Christmas card mode, I'm hoping the mode will stay with me so I can get some Christmas cards done before the dreaded 'Christmas card panic' kicks in ;) Anyways, onto the card. I bought some canvas pads a while ago from the local bookshop (at a reduced price, I might add :) ) and now I cut the background for my card from the canvas and splattered some pink acrylic paint on it, I had dilluted the paint with some water to make it more "splatterable" (I'm sure that is an actual word... hee hee!). Then I cut a square from pink corrugated cardboard and adhered a Christmas bauble on it, I die cut the bauble with a Marianne Design die. Then I just decorated the bauble with a simple satin ribbon - pink satin ribbon, of course ;) These were so quick and easy to make that I made four of them while I was at it.
P*skarteluhaaste challenge blog just happens to host a challenge this week where you have to use corrugated cardboard in your make so I'll submit my card there.

Tyttömäistä - Girly

Yritin tehdä yltiötyttömäistä korttia, joten tähän tuli sitten keijua, perhosta, blingiä, pinkkiä... :) Leimakuva on The Greeting Farmin Flutter Anya, tällä kertaa Distresseillä väritettynä (! yleensä väritän nämä ProMarkereilla, mutta nyt iski joku kumma ja ohitin ProMarkerit täysin...). Paperit on BasicGreytä ja doily ja kulmakoristeet stanssattu, perhoset leikattu Marthan leikkurilla. Lisänä hieman pompulanauhaa ja timanttiblingiä. Tuliko tarpeeksi tyttömäisyyttä? :D Ajattelin osallistua tällä pariin haasteeseen, sekä Papertake Weekly Challengella että Crafts and Me Challengesilla on aiheena 'Anything goes', joten niihin osallistun.

I tried to make as girly card as I could so I added everything girly to it, a fairy, butterflies, some bling, pink colour... :) The stamped image is Flutter Anya by The Greeting Farm coloured with Distress Inks (which is a surprise even to me as I usually colour TGF stamps with ProMarkers..). The papers are by BasicGrey, the doily and the corner 'thingies' are die cut with a Spellbinders die and the butterflies I punched with a Martha Stewart punch. Then I just added some pom-pom ribbon and a few rhinestones - is it girly enough, what do you think? :D I'll submit this to a couple of challenges, both Papertake Weekly Challenge and Crafts and Me Challenges are having the theme 'Anything goes'.

Ainakin täällä on sateinen päivä, joten toivottavasti tämä kortti tuo hieman aurinkoa päivääsi! Leppoisaa sunnuntaita ja kiitos, kun käväisit!

Ajan rattaat - The gears of time

Vaikka sain postaukseen, jossa esittelin veljeni synttärikortin, vinkin, että veljeni saattaa joskus käydä blogissani (terve vaan! :) ), ajattelin silti uskaltautua postaamaan toisen hänelle tekemäni kortin ennenkuin hän sen saa. Synttäribileet pidetään jo huomenna, joten tuskinpa hänellä on nyt aikaa surffailla netissä (kuuluisat viimeiset sanat..? ;) ). Sen edellisen postaamani kortin veljelleni antaa vanhempamme ja tämän tämänkertaisen annamme me, siksi siis tein kaksi korttia.

As I told you earlier, my brother's 40th birthday is coming and eventhough I received a comment telling that he sometimes visits my blog on the post where I showed you a card I made for him, I think I'll be brave enough to show you another card I made for him before he receives it. His birthday party's held tomorrow so I'm pretty confident he doesn't have the time to surf the net just now (or so I hope... ;) ). The car card is given to my brother by our Mum and Dad and this one is given by us.

Tähän korttiin en käyttänyt oikeastaan mitään valmista vaan väkersin melkeinpä kaiken itse. Taustan tein Distress Inkeillä ja Tsukinekon Goosebumps -tekstuurispraylla - ensin siis paperille keltaista ja oranssia DI:ä, sitten Goosebumpsia päälle ja sitten vielä ruskeita DI:jä. Rattaat stanssasin Tim Holtzin stansseilla ja ne on kiinnitetty tarrapaloilla korttipohjaan. Isoimpaan rattaaseen tein hieman ruostetta Distress Inkeillä ja kirkkaalla kohojauheella ja vasemmassa yläkulmassa olevaan rattaaseen levitin Distress Inkin päälle kirkasta Crackle Paintia. Muut rattaat käsittelin musteilla ja eri tavoin ressaamalla. Numerot stanssasin Holtzin Chip Block -stansseilla ja mustetin DI:llä ja onnea-pallon leimasin FinnStamperin leimalla. Kiinnitin numerot ja pallon vanhoista korvakoruista irrottamillani ketjuilla. Lisäksi nurkkiin laitoin ruuvihaaraniitit. Osallistun tällä kortilla Theme Thursday Challengeen, teemana maskuliiniset kortit.

Basically everything on this card I made myself (except of course a couple quite obvious things..). I made the background with some Distress Inks and Tsukineko's Goosebumps texture spray - first I applied some yellow and orange DI to the cardstock, then sprayed some Goosebumps on it and then applied some brown DIs on top. The gears I die cut with Tim Holtz's dies and they're attached to the card with 3D foam pads. I made some "rust" on the biggest gear with DIs and clear embossing powder and even if I say so myself, I think it looks quite cool ;) I applied some DIs and clear Crackle Paint on the gear on the top left hand's side. The other two gears I distressed with DIs and various other ways including sanding, glueing, etc. I die cut the numbers with Holtz's Chip Block dies and applied some DI on them. I attached the numbers and the sentiment circle (it says 'congrats') using some old chain that I got from old pair of earrings. Then I just added the screw brads on the corners. I'd like to enter this card to the Theme Thursday Challenge, the theme this week is masculine cards.

Vielä ennenkuin lopettelen, ajattelin hehkuttaa, miten ylpeä olen Maailman Suloisimmasta Pienestä Pojasta :) Hän nukkui viime yön omassa huoneessaan ensimmäistä kertaa elämässään!!! Tähän asti poika on nukkunut kaikki yönsä meidän makuuhuoneessamme (eli korkeintaan käsivarren mitan päässä minusta..) mutta nyt hän siirtyi siis omaan huoneeseensa. Luulenpa, että hänelle muutos oli paljon helpompi kuin minulle... Minä nimittäin hermoilin pää kipeänä hänen pärjäämistään! ;) Mutta kaikki meni hyvin ja äiti on nyt niin kauhean ylpeä pojastaan! 8)

Before I go, I want to tell you just how proud I am of The Cutest Little Boy in the World :) Last night was the first night in his whole life that he slept alone in his own room!!! Before last night he had slept in our bedroom (i.e. from arm's length from me..) but now he slept in his own room. I think the change was far easier for him that it was for me... I was worried sick (literally! I had headache!) of how he'd cope alone but everything went just fine and now I'm sooo proud of him! 8)

Chester

Alkukesästä tekemiäni kortteja on jäänyt jokunen näyttämättä, joten koitetaanpa nyt hieman sekoittaa aikajanoja ja postata vanhoja pois uusien alta. Tässä ensimmäisenä on nyt tällainen peruspoikakortti, leimakuva on Kraftin' Kimmien Chester, jonka väritin Distress Inkeillä ja leikkasin vapaaksi paperista ja kiinnitin tarrapaloilla korttiin. Chesterin taustalle stanssasin erikokoisia tähtiä kartongista Spellbindersin tähtistansseilla ja BasicGreyn paperin päälle hieman rouheutta tuomaan laitoin pätkän magic meshiä (onkohan sillä suomenkielistä nimeä..?). Ja tässä taas ne kuuluisat viimeiset sanat: "Ja siinäpä se" ;)

I have a few cards that I haven't shown you yet but which I made already earlier this summer, so to show you how confusing time can be here on my blog ;) I'll try to post them now before any new cards. This first one is your regular 'boy card' made with Kraftin' Kimmie's Chester. I coloured Chester with Distress Inks and popped him on the card with some 3D foam pads. Behind Chester I placed some stars that I die cut from cardstock with Spellbinders dies. The paper I used is by BasicGray and to add just a little texture, I placed some magic mesh on top of it. And that's pretty much it ;)

Veteraaniauto - Veteran car

Eilinen ukkosmyrsky olikin sitten pienoinen pettymys, pari salamaa, muutama jyrähdys ja siinä se. Minä olen meillä se, joka on innoissaan ikkunassa tai ulkona portailla katselemassa, kun ukkostaa, joten eilinen ukkostuksen tussahdus oli hieman tylsä (vaikka eipä kai semmoisesta käy oikeasti valittaminen). Tämänkertainen korttini menee veljelleni, joka täyttää piakkoin 40 (uskallan postata tämän jo etukäteen, sillä en usko hänen kovin ahkerasti surffailevan blogissani ;) ). (Laskeskelin muuten, että jos veljeni täyttää 40, tarkoittaa se, että minä olen... hetkinen... 25, ei anteeksi.... 24! HAH HAH!! ;D )  Kortin tausta aloitti elämänsä valkoisena paperina, mustetin sen Distress Inkillä ja leimasin samalla musteella päälle Impression Obsessionin Newsprint-leimalla. Reunoihin lisäilin hieman vettä, että ne näyttäisivät vähän 'kärsineemmiltä'. Reunoihin surauttelin vielä muutaman kierroksen ompelukoneella (jonka otin juuri korttikäyttöön). Leimakuva on Kort&Godtin veteraaniauto, embossasin sen Distress-jauheella ja mustetin hieman reunoja. Leimakuvan liimasin ruskealle kartongille, jota hieman ressasin. Nauhana käytin 'juustoharsoa', jonka niinikään mustetin Distress Inkillä epätasaisesti. Juustoharson alla on scrapper's flossia ja tissue tapea. Nappeina on vanhat metalliset pompan napit, joita vanhensin vielä hiekkapaperilla ja musteella ja pujotin juustoharsoon. Numeron 40 stanssasin Timpan Chip Blockeilla, mustetin ja lisäsin kirkasta crackle paintia päälle. Melko paljon on siis 'distressiä' tässä kortissa mutta - vetäkää tervaristi seinään! - mä olen melko tyytyväinen tähän korttiin! :D Osallistun tällä tämänviikkoiseen Frosted Designs -haasteeseen, jossa pyydettiin käyttämään nappeja.

The thunderstorm yesterday was quite a disappointment, just a few lightnings and some thundering sound and that was it. I'm usually the one who stands at the window or outside on the porch admiring the thunder but yesterday's thundering didn't really give a chance for that (although that is really nothing to actually complain about, I know). The card I'm showing today goes to my brother who soon turns 40 (I don't think he really visits my blog so I think I'm safe showing you the card ;) ). (Oh, and I just did some calculating and came to the conclusion that if my brother turns 40 that means that I am... wait... 25, no that's not right... 24!! HEE HEE! LOL!!! ;D ). The background on this card started its life as white cardstock, I added some Distress Ink to it and stamped the 'Newsprint' stamp by Impression Obsession with the same ink on top of it. I then added some water to the edges to make it look worn out and took my sewing machine out (for the first time for cards!) and sewed a few rounds on the edges. The stamped image is the veteran car by Kort&Godt, I embossed it with Distress embossing powder and added some brown ink to the edges. I then added some brown cardstock behind it and distressed the edges. I coloured some cheesecloth with Distress Inks and used it as ribbon and placed some scrapper's floss and tissue tape underneath. The buttons I used are old brass buttons, I aged them a little more by sanding them and adding some ink, and placed them on the cheesecloth. I die cut the number 40 with Tim Holtz's Chip Block die, added some Distress Ink to it and some clear crackle paint on top of it all. So, as you can see, there's quite a lot of distressing going on in this card but - lo and behold! - I am actually quite happy with it! :) I want to submit this to the Frosted Designs challenge of this week, the challenge is to use some buttons.

Here's a close-up of the numbers and the button (and you can see some 3D foam pad showing from underneath the button, the button had a 'stem' of sorts and using the foam pad was a way to secure it better).

Pikainen kortti - A quick make

Tämä on nyt sitten viimeinen korttini kesän korttileirille, pikainen kortti, johon koitin soveltaa tämän viikon "teoriaosuutta" toistosta. Leikkasin siis yksinkertaisesti paperisuikaleita, liimasin ne korttipohjaan ja piirrustelin hieman feikkitikkejä. Lisäksi leikkasin Timpan Chip Block -aakkosilla tuon hein ja lisäsin napin (joka oikeasti on tuon paperissa olevan vihreän värinen mutta ei ehkä kuvassa ihan samalta näytä).

This is my last submission for the Summer Card Camp, a quick make where I tried this week's theory on repetition. I just cut a few strips of paper, glued them on the card blank and added some fake stitches with white gel pen. The letters (which spell 'hi') I cut with Tim Holtz's Chip Block alphabet die. As embellie there's a button (which actually is the same colour as the green on the flowery paper).

Kukkakortti - Flower card

Toinen kortti vielä tämän viikon värikombosta (löytyy siis edellisestä postauksesta). Tuosta BasicGreyn taustapaperista löytyi kaikki kombon värit valkoista lukuunottamatta, joten pitihän se käyttää hyväksi ;) Tuo raitapaperi on Echo Parkin Dots&Stripes -paperikosta ja kukka lehtineen on stanssattu Papertrey Inkin stansseilla (Beautiful Blooms II ja Turning a New Leaf) sinisestä ja valkoisesta kartongista ja vihreästä huovasta. Tekstileima on taas Merjan ja Pammun setistä. Lisänä muutama timantti. Ja siinäpä se :)

Here's another card made with this week's colour combo (which can be found in the previous post). All the colours except white are in that BasicGrey paper so I had to make a card with it, hadn't I? ;) The pale blue stripey paper is from the Echo Park Dots&Stripes pad. I die cut the flowers and the leaf with Papertrey Ink dies (Beautiful Blooms II and Turning a New Leaf), the flowers from blue and white cardstock and the leaf from felt. As embellies there are just a few rhinestones. The sentiment says 'many congrats'. And that's it, quite simple and basic card :)

Ympyröitä - Circles

Viimeinen viikko Summer Card Campia on alkanut ja on siis uuden värikombon aika. Tämän kortin kanssa tuli väännettyä enkä ole vieläkään varma, tykkäänkö siitä mutta tällä mennään. Taustan (joka muuten oikeasti on lähempänä tuota sinivihreää väriä kuin mitä kuva antaa ymmärtää) kohokuvioin Tim Holtzin taskulla ja kirjaimet stanssasin Timpan Chip Block -aakkosilla. Ympyrät stanssasin ihan vain Spellbindersin stansseilla ja jotkut niistä liimasin toisiinsa ja jotkut kohotin tarrapaloilla, hieman kolmiulotteisuutta kehiin :) Vihreään ympyrään embossasin valkoisella Hero Artsin Grid Patternia. Lisänä vielä napit ja valkoinen scrapper's floss.

It's the fourth (and the last) week of Summer Card Camp and that means a new colour combo. The colours this week are lovely but for some reason I really struggled with this card and I'm still not sure whether I like it or not... The colour of the cardstock on the background is actually more teal-like in real life but for some reason it didn't photograph that way :-| But anyways, I embossed it with a Tim Holtz embossing folder, and I die cut the letters (which form the word 'congrats') with Holtz's Chip Block alphabet die. The circles I die cut with regular Spellbinders dies and attached some of them with 3D foam pads and some of them I just glued down, just for added interest. I also heat embossed the Hero Arts Grid Pattern with white powder on the green circle. Then I just added the buttons and the white scrapper's floss.

Maksukortteja - Cards as payment :)

Tässä taannoin ystäväni antoi Maailman Suloisimmalle Pienelle Pojalle (tunnetaan myös meidän poikanamme ;) ) valtavan kasan hänen pojiltaan pieniksi jääneitä vaatteita eikä suostunut ottamaan maksua niistä. Kun ei raha kerran kelvannut, niin tyrkytin hänelle sitten edes korttejani ;) Joidenkin jo valmiiden korttien lisäksi tein hänelle kolme korttia, hän tarvitsi synttärikortteja tytöille, joten niitä sitten tein.

Some time ago my friend gave The Cutest Little Boy in the World (a.k.a. our son ;) ) a huge pile of clothes that her boys had grown out of. She refused to take any money from us so I made her take some of my cards in exchange (aren't I awful?! ;) ). So in addition to a couple of 'old' cards I had at the ready, I made her three new ones. She needed birthday cards for girls so that's what I made.

Ensimmäinen kortti meni vuoden täyttävälle tytölle. Leimakuvaksi tähän valitsin DoodleFactoryn Squirtin, jonka väritin ProMarkereilla. Doilyn Squirtin taakse tein Papertrey Inkin Delightful Doilies -setin leimalla ja stanssilla, kohotin sen sitten tarrapaloilla korttipohjasta. Paperit ovat October Afternoonia tavallisella keltaisella kartongilla höystettynä ja tarra-aakkoset ovat Pink Paisleeta (yhtäkään v:tä ei ollut enää jäljellä, joten leikkasin tupla-w:tä hieman ja tein siitä tavallisen v:n).

The first card I made was for a girl on her first birthday. The stamped image is Squirt by the DoodleFactory and I coloured her with ProMarkers. I made the doily behind her with a die and a stamp from the Papertrey Ink set Delightful Doilies, and raised it from the card blank with 3D foam pads. The papers I used were by October Afternoon and I added some regular yellow cardstock 'here and there'. The alphabet stickers are by Pink Paislee - I didn't have any v's left so I had to cut a w smaller and make a v out of that.

Seuraavista korteista en enää muista, kumpi meni 8 vuotta ja kumpi 10 vuotta täyttävälle, mutta tämä kortti meni kuitenkin poikatytölle, eli prinsessoja ja pinkkiä ei saanut käyttää ;) Käännyin sitten taas Doodlejen puoleen ja ajattelin tämän pirteän Squip-oravan olevan sopiva. Väritys on jälleen kerran ProMarkereilla ja kaikki paperit ovat niinikään October Afternoonia, kartongit ColorCorea. Koristeiksi hieman haaraniitteja, muutama ristipisto ja tähtiklemmari, tekstileima Merjan ja Pammun setistä.

The following cards went to an 8-year-old resp. a 10-year-old but I can't remember which card went for whom anymore. However, this next card went to a tomboyish girl so no princesses and no pink colour! ;) Again I chose a DoodleFactory image, this Squip the Squirrel fitted the bill (or so I hope! ;) ). I coloured Squip with ProMarkers and raised him with 3D foam pads. The papers are again by October Afternoon with some ColorCore cardstock. As embellies I used a couple of brads, a few stitches and a star-shaped paper clip. The sentiment says something like 'to a wonderful gal'.

Seuraava kortti sai sitten olla vähän tyttömäisempi, joten leimakuvaksi valikoitui The Greeting Farmin Dahlia, jonka väritin taas ProMarkereilla. Stanssasin leimakuvan Spellbindersin stanssilla ja lisäsin tytsyn ympärille hieman Distress Inkiä. Paperina October Afternoonia (huomaatko, miten tästä alkaa muodostua näkyviin tietty kaava... ;D ) ja tavallista kartonkia, tekstileima Taitopuoti Paperinauhan setistä. Koristeina sydännapit narulla höystettynä.

The next card is a little more girly. The stamped image is Dahlia by The Greeting Farm, I coloured her with ProMarkers and die cut the image with a Spellbinders die and added some Distress Ink to it. The papers I used are by October Afternoon (see a pattern forming here...? ;D ) and some regular red cardstock. As embellies just a couple of heart-shaped buttons and white twine. The sentiment says something like 'to the birthday girl'.

Sellaiset olivat ne "maksukortit", toivottavasti olivat mieluisia päivänsankareille. Mukava, kun piipahdit blogissani, kommentoi ihmeessä jos ehdit (ja minä kiitän :) ). Hauskaa viikonalkua! :)

Kukkia ja taitteluita - Flowers and foldings

Äitini tarvitsi syntymäpäiväkorttia ystävälleen, joten minä istutin pyrstöni askartelupöydän ääreen ja rupesin hommiin! ;) Tämän kortin malli/taittelu tuli suoraan korttileirin tämänviikkoisesta videosta mutta koska valitsin väreiksi yhden setin viime viikon "ylimääräisistä" väreistä (ylimääräisiä värikomboja tulee siis 6/viikko sen yhden virallisen lisäksi), en nyt sitten linkkaa tätä korttileirin galleriaan. Tuo taittelu ei nyt ole sen kummempi kuin että tavallisen kortin etukansi on taitettu kertaalleen puoliksi ja tuo leimakuva on asetettu siihen taitteeseen. Kun kortti on ihan kiinni, jää tuo omalle tekstille tarkoitettu soikio leimakuvasoikion alle piiloon. Kortin taittelin ColorCoren Gemstones-kartongista, joka 'hohtaa' varsin kauniisti. Tuo leimakuva on Hero Artsin ihana Large Blossom, jonka leimasin VersaMark Dazzlella Spellbindersilla stanssattuun soikioon ja embossasin kirkkaalla jauheella. Sitten levitin Distress Inkiä (Milled Lavender) koko leimakuvan päälle ja siveltimellä hieman lisäilin DI Victorian Velvetiä kukkiin. Kortin reunuksiin levitin aavistuksen DI Vintage Photoa ja koristeiksi laitoin puolihelmiä ja itsetehdyn korupiikin. En oikein osannut päättää, oliko kortti hyvä noin vai jäikö siitä puuttumaan jotain, jäikö se hieman 'autioksi', mutta tuollaiseksi sen jätin (yleensä ne viime hetken "mä lisään siihen vielä tuota ja tuota" -jutut ei ihan toimi... ;) ).

My mom needed a birthday card for her friend so I went and sat myself by my craft table and started working. I made this card following the folding on this week's video on Summer Card Camp but as I chose one of last week's additional colour combos as my colours, I won't be linking this to the gallery over at Camp. The folding is nothing difficult, just a normal card with its front cover folded in half and the stamped image attached to the fold. When the card's closed, the white oval meant for writing your greeting on will be hidden behind the oval featuring the stamped image. I folded the card from a Gemstones cardstock by ColorCore which has a beautiful shine to it. The stamp I used is Large Blossom by Hero Arts, it's actually a rectangular stamp but I chose to die cut an oval on to which I then stamped the image, just for added interest. I stamped it with VersaMark Dazzle and heat embossed it with clear powder. I then added Distress Ink Milled Lavender over the whole image and with a brush added some DI Victorian Velvet on to the flowers. I also added some DI Vintage Photo to the edges of the card. As embellies I added a few pearls and a pin with some beads. I wasn't exactly sure if the card 'needed' something or if it was good as it was, too bare or ok, but I left it as it was (and as you see it in the piccie). Usually the last minute "I'll just add this, oh and this" type of decisions end up as catastrophes so it's safer this way ;)

That was today's card, quite feminine I think but not overly stuffed with embellies or such, hope the person who gets it, likes it. Anyhow, it was good to have you come by my blog, if you'll leave a comment, I'll be chuffed :) Have a great weekend (weekend starts on Friday, doesn't it..?) :)
