The Flower Challenge #45: Reminder - Muistutus

We're midway through our June challenge at The Flower Challenge with the theme of 'Navy + One Other'. Our Guest Designer is Jenny Hall.

This time I went with navy and grey as my colours with white as the neutral colour.  I used Country Charisma stamp set (30-690) by Penny Black with the matching dies (Country Charisma Cut Out 51-634), and coloured the images with my Copics. For the background, I die cut a frame with Framed (51-622) die set by Penny Black. For the sentiment I combined a stamp from Only You (30-666) sentiment set with the die cut 'you' cut with For You dies (51-105), I heat embossed the stamped part of the sentiment.

PBSC: June - Kesäkuu

The June challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge has started and the theme is, as always, 'Anything Goes'. The optional theme for June is 'Spots and/or Stripes'. Our Guest Designer is Bunny and the prize for our winner is $20 gift voucher from 1-2-3 Stitch.

My card features both spots and stripes in both the stamped image and patterned papers. The image I used is from the set Be Happy, I coloured it with my Copics. I then die cut the panel with Stitched Nested Frames die by Penny Black, added a bit of patterned paper for the background and adhered them in place. I added a die cut leaf, a tag and a heart to the top corner (die cut with Penny Black dies Leaves, Gift Card Pocket, and Bear-y Much Cut Out respectively) and added a bit of twine, a sequin and some enamel dots as embellishments. Lastly, I added my sentiment ('Congratulations').

The Flower Challenge #45: June - Kesäkuu

The June challenge is starting at The Flower Challenge and this month we have a colour challenge to inspire you, we're asking you to use 'Navy + One Other'. Our Guest Designer is the fabulous Jenny Hall.

I decided to go with die cuts this time and used a Penny Black die called Playful Posies and die cut my very dark navy florals with it. My one other colour is white and I die cut two frames with Penny Black's Simple Stackers dies. After adhering everything in place, I stamped my sentiment ('Congratulations') in navy ink.

PBSC May - Toukokuu

We are mid-way through our May challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge where the theme is 'Anything Goes/Inspired by a Song'.

I went with Anything Goes option this time and colored this sweet bunny by Penny Black called Flying By with Zig markers and I used the matching die to cut it out. For the background, I used a strip of patterned paper and some sequins to embellish it. The sentiment wishes 'Joyous birthday'.

The Flower Challenge #44: Reminder - Muistutus

We're mid-way through our May challenge at The Flower Challenge and our theme is 'Monochrome'. Our wonderful Guest Designer is Nonni.

I went for yellows for my reminder card. The stamp I used is 'Together' by Penny Black. Using yellow Distress Markers, I coloured straight to the stamp and stamped onto watercolour cardstock several times using a Misti. I sponged some yellow Distress Oxide ink to the edges of the panel, stamped my sentiment (it says 'Sunshine to your day') and matted the panel onto some dark brown cardstock before adhering it to yellow card base.

The Flower Challenge: May - Toukokuu

New month - new challenge at The Flower Challenge. Our theme for May is 'Monochrome' and as our Guest Designer we have the very talented Nonni.

I went for greys in my monochrome card and as much as the photo looks black and white, I can assure you it is actually a colour photo! :D Anyways, I used Penny Black stamps for my card, the watering can is from Country Charisma set and the flowers are from Exquisite Envelope set. I coloured them with my Copics and die cut them with the matching dies. I used dark grey card base and I die cut a rectangle frame out of the same grey cardstock. The sentiment is die cut with a Simply Graphic die.

AAA Birthday #13: May - Toukokuu

We have a new challenge starting at AAA Birthday and our theme for May is 'Things with Wings'. Our Guest Designer is the fabulously talented Enna. 

My 'thing with wings' is Blanche from Stamping Bella. I've coloured her with my Copics, added a bit of sparkle to her wings and white gel pens here and there before die cutting her with the matching die. For the background, I used some patterned paper and the beautiful leaf border die cut with Layered Leaves die by Penny Black. The sentiment says 'Congratulating you'.

PBSC May - Toukokuu

We have a new challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge and the theme for May is 'Anything Goes'/'Inspired by a Song'. Our sponsor 1-2-3 Stitch! is giving the winner a $20 voucher for the shop.

I was inspired by one of my favourite songs, Unforgettable by Nat King Cole, and I used a stamp by Penny Black called 'Unforgettable'. I coloured the stamped image with my Copics and die cut the center with Antique Frames die. I sponged some Distress Oxide ink to the edges, stamped my sentiment (it says 'Congratulating You') and adhered some craft foam on the back of the center panel before adhering everything in place. This way the center panel is raised  from the card base.

PBSC April - Huhtikuu

We are mid-way through our April challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge and our theme for April is, as always, 'Anything Goes' and the optional theme is 'Use Ribbon/Twine'.

For my card, I used the gorgeous floral stamp Blushing peeking out of the envelope from the set Exquisite Envelope, both by Penny Black. I coloured them with my watercolours and die cut them with their matching dies. For the background, I used some patterned paper matted onto cardstock and a circle frame die cut with Stitched Square and Circles dies by Penny Black. I used a bit of twine around the envelope and stamped my sentiment (it says 'A hug for you').

AAA Birthday: April - Huhtikuu

Welcome to Game #12 of AAA Birthday Challenge! This month the theme is 'Dots and/or Stripes' and it will run until May 3rd. As our Guest Designer, we have the incredibly talented Barbara.

I went with dots in my card. I coloured these images from the Sunflower Sweetheart set by MFT with my Copics and added white dots to the girl's dress with my white Gelly Roll pen. I die cut the ground from dotty paper with the Rolling Hills die by Penny Black and added blue patterned paper as the sky. After adhering everything in place, I stamped my sentiment, it says 'Congrats - today is your day'.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge: April - Huhtikuu

It's April and time for a new challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge. As always, the theme is 'Anything Goes' but if you want a bit of creative nudge, the optional theme is 'Ribbon/Twine'.  Please do join us, there is a prize up for grabs for the winner.

For my card, I die cut a panel with Simple Stackers die by Penny Black onto which I stamped the pretty vase with flowers from the set From the Garden. I coloured the image with my Copics and stamped the dots on the vase. I stamped my sentiment ('Congrats' in Finnish) onto a strip of pink cardstock, tied a twine into a bow on it and adhered it in place. I then stamped the brick wall with the background stamp Brick Wall by Penny Black straight onto my cardbase and adhered the panel onto it with foam adhesives. Lastly, I embellished my card with some sequins.

Penny Black Secret Garden: Springtime Sigh

It's time for a mid-way reminder at Penny Black Saturday Challenge where the theme is 'Anything Goes' with the optional theme of 'Think Spring'. There is a prize up for grabs as well, 1-2-3 Stitch is giving our winner a USD20 voucher.

I went with the optional Think Spring theme which I associate with flowers (oh I cannot wait to see flowers popping up!) and decided to use this gorgeous new floral stamp from Penny Black called Springtime Sigh. I watercoloured the image and fussy cut it out. I stamped the sentiment from the Blooming Sentiments set onto a little sign that I die cut with the new Sign set. For the background, I used a piece of patterned paper from Beau Jardins paper pad and added a pink panel die cut with Stitches of Love die. Lastly, I embellished my card with a ribbon tied into a bow and some enamel dots.

Penny Black Secret Garden: Herb Garden - and some news!

I have some lovely news to share today! I was accepted into the Penny Black Saturday Challenge Design Team! Woop woop! I've played along their challenges many times and it is so wonderful to be accepted into the DT. Thank you so much, PBSC ladies, for accepting me! :)

The theme over at PBSC is always 'Anything Goes' (as long as you use a Penny Black image) but there is always an optional theme as well, and in March it is 'Think Spring'. For me, spring means new growth, a time to (re-)pot plants and to eagerly wait for new growth and I chose my Penny Black stamp with this in mind. The stamp I used is a new one, it's called Herb Garden. I stamped it onto watercolour paper and coloured with my watercolours. I also added some watercolour splatters.  The sentiment I used comes with the Herb Garden stamp. After I stamped it, I matted the panel onto some dark brown cardstock before adhering it to the card base.

Tällä kertaa minulla on uutisia: minut hyväksyttiin Penny Black Saturday Challengen Design Teamiin! Olen osallistunut PBSC:n haasteisiin usein, joten Design Teamiin pääsy oli todella mukava yllätys :)

Aiheena PBSC:ssä on aina 'Anything Goes' eli kaikki käy, kunhan käyttää Penny Blackin leimoja. Vaihtoehtoinen aihekin on ja maaliskuussa se on 'Think Spring'. Minulle kevät merkitsee uutta kasvua, kasvien istuttamista ja niiden kasvun odottelua ja tämän perusteella valitsin käyttämäni leiman. Se on uusi leima nimeltään Herb Garden. Leimasin sen vesiväripaperille ja väritin vesiväreillä, muutaman roiskeenkin lisäsin. Tekstileima on samaisesta setistä. Paneelin kerrostin tummanruskealle kartongille ja lopulta korttipohjaan.

AAA Birthday: March - Maaliskuu

It's time for a new challenge at AAA Birthday and this time our theme is 'Flowers'. We also have two  Guest Designers joining us, Dhruvika and Tasha.

For my DT card I used a gorgeous floral stamp by MFT, this is called Floral Focus. I coloured it with my Copic markers and die cut it with its matching die. I wanted to keep the card simple, so I die cut a panel out of white textured cardstock with the new Penny Black die Simple Stackers. I then adhered the floral image in place, stamped my sentiment (it says 'Happy Birthday' in Finnish) and adhered the panel onto my cardbase. Lastly, I embellished the card with some enamel dots.

I'm back with another card for our current challenge at The Flower Challenge. The theme for February is 'Add Leaves' and we have as our Guest Designer the fabulous Galina Filippenko.

For my card, I used a floral stamp from the Straight Up Floral set by Stamping Bella and I added my leaves using the leaf stamp from the same set. I did my colouring with Copic Markers. For the background, I used a piece of patterned paper and a frame die cut with Stitches of Love frame dies by Penny Black. I stamped my sentiment (it says 'This is your day') on a strip of vellum and added some black Nuvo drops to embellish the card.

A new month means a new challenge at The Flower Challenge and during February we'd like you to 'Add Leaves' to your floral creations. As our Guest Designer, we have our winner from last August, the very talented Galina Filippenko.

For my card, I used Wild Roses stamps by Pretty Pink Posh. I coloured the images with my Copics and added a bit of white Gelly Roll pen to them. In addition to the stamped leaves, I also added some die cut leaves die cut with MFT's Leafy Greenery dies. For the background, I used some patterned paper and a frame die cut with Penny Black's Antique Frame dies. The sentiment says 'Congrats'.

Helmikuun haaste The Flower Challengessä on 'Add Leaves' eli lehtiä pitäisi kukkakorttiin lisätä. Omaan korttiini käytin Pretty Pink Poshin Wild Roses -leimasettiä, väritin kukat ja lehdet Copiceilla. Leimattujen lehtien lisäksi lisäsin vielä stanssattujakin lehtiä, stanssasin ne MFT:n Leafy Greenery -stansseilla. Taustalle kuviopaperia ja kehykset, jotka stanssasin Penny Blackin Antique Frame -setin stansseilla. Lopuksi vielä tekstin leimaus.

AAA Birthday: February - Helmikuu

A new month and a new challenge at AAA Birthday! The theme for February is 'Cute' so anything cute in the form of a birthday card is welcome. We have an amazing Guest Designer joining us this month, please visit Rachelle and leave her some love!

For my card, I decided to use this cute image by Stamping Bella called Blossom Loves Balloons. I coloured her with my Copics, die cut the panel with a Penny Black die (Stitches of Love) and before removing the die, I sponged some Distress Oxide ink to the edges of the image to leave a white frame around it. I then stamped my birthday sentiment and added some grass and tiny flowers die cut with Penny Black dies (Garden Edgers and Hanging Planters). Before attaching the panel to the card base, I added some pretty patterned paper by Lili of the Valley to it.

Helmikuun aihe AAA Birthdayssä on 'Cute' eli söpöjä synttärikortteja kaivataan. Oman korttini tein Stamping Bellan Blossom Loves Balloons -leimalla. Väritin leimakuvan Copiceilla ja stanssasin paneelin irti Penny Blackin stanssilla Stitches of Love. Ennen kuin irrotin paneelin stanssista, mustetin leimakuvan reunoja Distress Oxide -musteella. Lisäsin paneeliin ruohoa ja pikkuruisia kukkia, jotka stanssasin Penny Blackin stansseilla Garden Edgers ja Hanging Planters. Sitten leimasin tekstileiman, laitoin korttipohjaan Lili of the Valleyn kuviopaperia ja paneeli siihen kiinni.

AAA Birthday: January - Tammikuu

The first challenge of the new year and the new decade is starting at AAA Birthday and we have a fun one for you - a shaker card! As our Guest Designer, we have Vita Thai. I encourage you to check out her Instagram account and leave her some crafty love!

Instead of playing with foam adhesives, I decided to make a sort of a faux shaker card again. So I took a small cellophane bag, cut a piece of patterned paper that fitted inside it, and added my sequins in there. I really like it this way as the sequins won't fall to the bottom of the shaker part but instead 'float' around the cellophane bag. The stamped image I used is Curvy Girl Gardener by Stamping Bella, I love it and bought it for myself as a birthday treat :) I coloured it with my Copic markers and used the matching die to die cut it. For the background, I used patterned paper in pretty rainbow colours. The sentiment I used says 'Congrats' in Finnish, I stamped it onto a banner die cut with an MFT die.

On vuosikymmenen ensimmäisen haasteen aika AAA Birthdayssä ja teemana on shaker-kortit. Guest Designerina meillä on Vita Thai.

Sen sijaan, että olisin tehnyt perinteisen shakerin, päätin huijata hieman. Otin pienen sellofaanipussin, leikkasin sinne sisälle palan kuviopaperia ja lisäsin paljetit sinne. Tällä tavoin paljetit pysyvät "leijumassa" eivätkä putoa shaker-osion pohjalle. Raamit sille stanssasin Hero Artsin stansseilla. Leimakuvana käytin Stamping Bellan Curvy Girl Gardener -leimaa, jonka väritin Copiceilla. Taustalle hieman sateenkaaripaperia ja tekstileima MFT:n stanssilla stanssattuun banneriin ja kortti oli valmis.

Best cards of 2019 - The Flower Challenge

It's time to look back on last year and the cards I've made and choose my favourite cards that I made for The Flower Challenge during 2019. I love all styles of cardmaking but tend to lean towards the clean and simple (or clean and layered, depending on the definition) style and I think my cards reflect that. And looking at the cards I chose, I think we could also play a game called 'Guess my favourite floral colour'... LOL!

On aika katsoa vuoden 2019 kortteja ja erityisesti The Flower Challenge -haasteeseen tekemiäni DT-kortteja. Valitsin neljä itselleni mieluisinta korttia ja ajattelin, että samalla voisimme pelata helppoa peliä nimeltään "Arvaa Milla lempiväri", ha ha! Linkit kortteihin löytyy yltä, mikäli haluat katsoa niitä lähemmin. Toivottavasti osallistut myös tuleviin haasteisiimme!

AAA Birthday #8: December - Joulukuu

It's December, time for a new challenge at AAA Birthday and our theme this time is 'Balloons & Banners'. As our Guest Designer, we have the talented Maaike joining us.

For my card, I used the cute little mouse with his balloon from the Penny Black set It's Your Day. I coloured the image with my watercolours and added some details in my white Gelly Roll pen. I also sponged some Distress Oxide ink to the edges of the image. I then die cut the frame using Penny Black's Stitched Loops die and adhered it in place. The banner is by Lawn Fawn, I stamped and die cut it before watercolouring it. I stamped the sentiment ('Congrats') with tiny alphabet stamps by Papertrey Ink onto the banner and adhered the banner in place. Lastly, I embellished the card with clear sequins.

Omaan korttiini käytin suloista hiirtä ilmapalloineen Penny Blackin It's Your Day -setistä, väritin sen vesiväreillä ja lisäilin yksityiskohtia valkoisella Gelly Roll -kynällä. Reunoille mustetin Distress Oxide -mustetta. Kehykset stanssasin Penny Blackin Stitched Loops -stanssilla ja kiinnitin paikoilleen. Banneri on Lawn Fawnin, vesiväritin sen ja leimasin tekstin siihen Papertrey Inkin aakkosleimoilla.
