Ensimmäinen joulukortti! - First Christmas card!

Vuoden 2013 ensimmäinen joulukortti tulee tässä! Pikkasen myöhään ehkä aloitan mutta eihän tässä nyt kiire ole eikä tule, ei ei, ei todellakaan... eihän..?! ;D Tämä oli kuitenkin sen verran nopea tehdä, että näitä tulee varmasti tehtyä useampikin. Stanssasin tähän tuon tähtitaivaan Simon Says Stampin stanssilla ja maiseman Memory Boxin stanssilla, maiseman kiinnitin tarrapaloilla hieman koholle. Tekstileima Hero Artsin Cup O' Joe -musteella ja lisäksi hieman leipurinnyöriä.

I have finally made my very first Christmas card for this year! I might be a bit late starting but there's no hurry, is there... ;D This was rather quick to make so I might be doing a few of these to save some time. For this card, I die cut the starry sky with a Simon Says Stamp die and the scenery with a Memory Box die. I attached the scenery with foam adhesives so it's a bit raised from the background. The sentiment says 'It's Christmas Night' in Finnish and it's stamped with Hero Arts' Cup O' Joe ink. Then I just added a bit of baker's twine to the card and it was done! Quick and simple! :)

Paperikukkia pitkästä aikaa - Paperflowers and banners

Jotta saadaan aikajärjestys heittämään häränpyllyä, niin peruutetaanpas korttileirin ekan viikon ekaan päivään :D Tämä kortti seuraa yhtä annettua luonnosta ja on malliltaan suora kopio Jennifer McGuiren kortista, joka oli sen verran hauska, että se piti tehdä itsekin (tuntuu, että nyt tulee vain kopioitua muiden kortteja mutta josko ne siten jäisi paremmin takaraivoon ja niitä muistaisi hyödyntää myöhemminkin...). Tässä siis tuo kermanvärinen kartonki toimii korttipohjana, johon kirjoitetaan ja tuo viininpunainen fläppi peittää tekstin. Kortti siis aukeaa ylöspäin ja tuo fläppi on se aukeava osa. Leimasin fläpin Hero Artsin Envelope Pattern -taustaleimalla ja HA Shadow Inkillä. Stanssasin Papertrey Inkin Mat Stack 4 -stansseilla palat kermanväristä ja ruskeaa kartonkia, kerrostin ne päällekäin ja leimasin Stempelkellerin tekstileimalla tekstin. Lehtileimat on niinikään Papertrey Inkiä (Turning a New Leaf -setistä). Ja pitkästä, piiitkästä aikaa käytin koristeina paperikukkia, joihin laitoin timantit keskuksiksi.

This is a card I made for the first day of the Summer Card Camp 2. It follows one of the sketches given and is basically a copy of a card made by Jennifer McGuire (it seems that I'm just copying other people's cards on the Camp but maybe this way I'll remember them better and can use the ideas better in the future...). I thought the card design was so clever that I wanted to try and make one myself. Here the red banner is the front part of the card which covers the message that you can write on the inside, on the cream card base, so it is a version of a top folding card. I stamped the banner with Hero Arts 'Envelope Pattern' background stamp and Hero Arts Shadow Ink. The sentiment is stamped on the cardstock die cut with Papertrey Ink's Mat Stack 4 dies. I stamped the leaves with a stamp from the PTI 'Turning a New Leaf' set and as embellies I used paper flowers with rhinestones in their middle.

Kesäleirillä - On a summer camp

Kesä tarkoittaa paitsi lomailua, myös leirejä ja millä leirillä sitä askartelija olisi ellei korttileirillä?! Juu-u, Online Card Classesillä on taas menossa kurssi, Summer Card Camp 2, ja minä olen mukana. Taas :) Minkäs sille voi jos nettikorttikursseista tykkää.... :) Leiri alkoi jo viime viikolla mutta ehdin itse tehdä kortteja vasta viikonloppuna ja nyt alkuviikosta, tämä kortti on toisen viikon ensimmäisen päivän oppien mukaan tehty (postailen siis näitä kortteja nyt "epäaikajärjestyksessä" mutta sehän ei ole mitään uutta tässä blogissa ;D ) ja seuraa yhtä annetuista luonnoksista. Koitin saada korttiin hieman lisää mielenkiintoa tekemällä tuon reunan, eli kukkapaperi"raidan" ja washiteipin, kortin sisäosaan. Leikkasin siis kortin kannesta palan pois ja siirsin luonnoksessa olleen elementin sisäosaan niin, että se sieltä kuitenkin näkyy (oliko sekavasti selitetty? Hyvä :) ). Paperit tässä ovat My Mind's Eyetä ja Echo Parkia, tekstileima FinnStamperin, lisänä tosiaan washiteippiä, nappeja ja scrapper's flossia.

Well, it's summer now (or at least it's supposed to be, you couldn't tell that by looking at the weather we've been having these past few days...) and that means vacations and summer camps, right? And what summer camp does a crafter take part in if not a card camp? That's right, Online Card Classes is running a new online class called 'Summer Card Camp 2' and I'm taking part. Once again :) (Yes, I know, I'm a sucker for these online classes... :D ). The card camp started last week but I only got a chance to craft over the weekend and beginning of this week so I'm running a bit behind. This card was made for Day 1 of Week 2 (my cards for the camp won't be posted chronologically but that's nothing new to those familiar to my blog-o... ;) ) and it follows one of the sketches given. I tried to give the card a bit of 'oomph' by placing the sideborder, i.e. the piece of floral paper and the strip of washi tape, on the inside of the card and cut the front of the card a bit smaller so that the border still shows (I hope I explained that unclearly enough, hee hee..). Anyways, the patterned papers I used are by My Mind's Eye and Echo Park, the sentiment says 'congrats', and there are some buttons, some scrapper's floss and some washi tape, too.

Tirppaset - Tiny birdies

Pienenpieniä tirppasia tarjolle tällä kertaa :) Ostin Memory Boxin Resting Birds -stanssin hiljattain ja nämä pienet tirpat ovat niin ihania. Pää raksuttaa jo kovasti, mihin kaikkialle näitä voisikaan laittaa mutta aloitetaan nyt tirpat langalla -linjalla. Stanssasin siis nuo linnut tummanruskeasta kartongista (kuvassa tosin näyttää melko mustalta) ja yhden lintusen tuosta pinkistä. Sitten vain laitoin ne mustalle "langalle" ja leimasin tekstin (Papertrey Inkiä) mustalla ja lisäsin viereen pienen ruskealla ProMarkerilla värjätyn chipboard-sydämen. Kaistale pinkkiä kartonkia seuraksi ja siinäpä se. Tätä tehdessäni harmittelin (taas kerran...), kun suomeksi ei niin hurjaa valikoimaa ole noissa tekstileimoissa mutta toisaalta eipä kaikki taida ihan suomeksi kääntyäkään. "Ajattelen sinua, aina" -tekstissä saattaa olla hieman erilainen klangi kuin tuossa englanninkielisessä... ;D

Tiny tiny birds resting, that's what I have for you today. I recently bought the 'Resting Birds' die by Memory Box and I simply love these tiny little birdies, they're so cute. For this card, I placed the birds (die cut out of dark brown cardstock, not black as it may seem on the photo, and one birdie out of pink cardstock) on a little 'wire' and stamped the sentiment (by Papertrey Ink) with black ink. The little heart is a chipboard embellishment, I coloured it with a brown ProMarker. Then there's just a strip of pink cardstock on the side of the card to finish it off.

No niin, synttärikorttisarja jatkuu. Tässä on toinen tekemäni kortti 12 vuotta täyttävälle veljenpojalleni, koitin tehdä siitä eri tyylisen kuin ensimmäisestä kortista. Tähän meni kuviopapereita, washiteippiä, chipboard-kuvioita, numeroleimasimet 7Gypsiesiltä ja tekstileima Papertrey Inkiltä. Aika simppeli kortti mutta toivottavasti mieluinen. Pahoittelut muuten luokattoman huonosta kuvasta, jostain syystä valo väisteli minua ja korttia kuvanottohetkellä :/

OK, here's another birthday card I made for my nephew who'll turn 12 later this month. I tried to make this as different as possible from the first card, I think I succeeded. For this card I used some patterned papers, some washitape, some chipboard embellishments, stamps by 7Gypsies (the number 12) and Papertrey Ink (the sentiment). I'm sorry about the bad photo, for some reason I wasn't able to catch a good light for taking it :/

Yhdistelyä - Combining

Tässä kortissa ei paljoa muuta ole kuin paperia :D Testailin erikokoisten kuvioiden yhdistämistä toisiinsa ja lopputulos on alla. Paperit on October Afternoonia, tekstileima FinnStamperin. Koristeena on nappi, joka oikeasti on aika ihana vanha nappi, vaikka se ei kuvassa oikeuksiinsa pääsekään.

Patterned papers - that's pretty much all there is to this card :D I tried my hand at combining different sizes of patterns together and the result you can see in the piccie. The papers are by October Afternoon, the sentiment says 'many congrats'. The only embellishment is the button which in real life is a gorgeous, red vintage button but I'm afraid it doesn't show that well in the photo.

Kuvioperhonen - Patterned butterfly

Olen kovin tykästynyt tuohon aikaisemmin mainitsemaani Pattern Play -kurssiin. Kurssin ideat ovat loistavia ja mallikortit upeita, vielä kun olisi itsellä aikaa kortteilla niin paljon, kuin haluaisi, niin ei paremmasta väliä. Jotain olen kuitenkin ehtinyt väkertää ja tässä näytille väkerryksen tulosta. Eli ideana on käyttää "vaikeasti käytettävää kuviopaperia" (eli sellaista, jonka kuvio on syystä tai toisesta haastava/hurja/silmille hyppäävä) mutta vain vähän, koko korttia ei siis tarvitse paperiin peittää. Tällä idealla stanssasin kartonkiin Papertrey Inkin perhosen, kiinnitin taakse kuviopaperia ja kiinnitin korttipohjaan. Poimin kuviopaperista muutaman yksityiskohdan kortin koristeiksi: punaiset helmet ja raidallisen washiteipin. Lopuksi teksti FinnStamperin leimalla.

I'm really loving the Pattern Play card class that I mentioned earlier. The ideas shared there are brilliant and the card samples gorgeous - I'm so inspired to craft but am a little pushed for time. I have managed to create something though and the result you can see below. The idea here is to use a 'hard to use' paper (i.e. a patterned paper whose pattern is somehow overpowering and thus difficult to use) and just use a tiny bit of it. So here I die cut a butterfly with a Papertrey Ink die, attached some patterned paper behind the diecut negative and attached to a card base. Then I picked some details of the patterned paper and tried to use them as my starting point for embellishments: red pearls and striped washi tape. The sentiment says 'to a friend'.

Lumihiutale - Snowflake

Tällä kertaa P*skarteluhaasteessa oli vuorossa värihaaste ja aivan ihanat värit olivatkin, mutta silti jostain syystä älyttömän vaikeat. En meinannut millään saada niitä kaikkia samaan korttiin sopimaan enkä tiedä, olenko niinkään tyytyväinen tähän korttiin (vaikkakin tämä on paljon parempi kuin eka yritykseni! ;D ). Mutta tällä mennään kuitenkin. Korttipohjana siis harmaata kartonkia, jonka reunan leikkasin Marthan leikkurilla, paperi Bo Bunnyn paperikosta, keskipisteenä tummanharmaasta ja tuollaisesta sinertävänvihertävästä kartongista stanssatut ympyrät, jotka molemmat kiinnitin tarrapaloilla. 'Keskipisteen keskipisteenä' stanssattu lumihiutale ja siinä yksi timantti. Tähän tuli nyt ylimääräisenä värinä tuo valkoinen mutta josko neutraali väri sallitaan lisänä..?

I wanted to join in this week with the Finnish challenge blog P*skarteluhaaste because they have a wonderful colour challenge going. The colours are beautiful (please click the link below to see the colours) but for some reason it was unbelievably difficult for me to get them all in one card and to get them look at least half decent. I'm not sure I'm that pleased with my card but at least it's way better than my first attempt - hee hee! ;D Anyways, I folded the card base using pale grey cardstock and punched the bottom edge with a Martha Stewart punch. The patterned paper is by Bo Bunny. I die cut the circles in the middle from dark grey and teal coloured cardstocks and attached both with foam pads. Then I die cut the snowflake and added one single rhinestone to it. The white colour on the snowflake is additional colour and wasn't included in the challenge but I'm hoping an added neutral colour is ok..

Ajattelematta - Without thinking

Tämä kortti tuli tehtyä "kaikkea kivaa" -periaatteella. Laitoin siis korttiin sen kummemmin miettimättä kaikkea omasta mielestäni kivaa ja mitä nyt satuin pöydältä löytämään. Mielenkiintoisesti yhtäkään leimakuvaa tässä ei ole... ;) Sen sijaan tässä on hieman Dylusions ink sprayta, paperia ja aaltopahvia, washiteippiä, stanssattu huopasydän, gessoa, nappi ja narunpätkiä. Sen kummempaa ideaa tässä ei ole takana mutta joskus on kiva tehdä kortteja näinkin :)

I made this card simply by using all kinds of stuff that I like and that I found on my craft table without thinking too much. Didn't use any stamped images though (*shockhorror* ;) ), funny that... Instead you can find some Dylusions ink spray, some patterned paper and some corrugated cardboard, some washi tape, a die cut felt heart, some gesso, a button and some pieces of ribbon and twine on my card. I find it so much fun to make cards like this every once in a while, things made without too much thinking. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't but always I have fun :)

Polviorsia* ja rosetti - Chevron and a rosette

Ajattelin vaihteen vuoksi tehdä kortin ilman sen kummempaa leimakuvaa ja ottaa keskipisteeksi rosetin, niitä kun ei ole hetkeen tullut väännettyä. Vahvistin tuota rosettia pilkullisella washiteipillä ja liimasin napin päälle. Washiteippiä on myös tuo turkoosi raita, siinä laitoin teipin valkoisen kartongin päälle niin, että tuo taustapaperi ei kuultaisi teipin alta. Sitten vain pari onnea-tekstiä (ne olisi voinut näin jälkeenpäin ajatellen asetella niin, että toinen osoittaisi hieman alaspäin, mutta se on myöhäistä nyt ;) ), muutama timantti ja taustapaperiksi Crate Paperin paperia.

I thought I'd make a card without a stamped image for a change and put a rosette as the focal point, as I haven't used those for ages. As I made the rosette, I strengthened it a bit with a dotty washi tape and added a button as its centre. The turquoise strip is also washi tape, I just taped a piece of white cardstock with the tape so that it would be more opaque and not show the background paper (by Crate Paper) through.  The sentiment on the banners say 'congrats'. As further embellies there are a few rhinestones.

Poika olet tähti! - You're a Star!

Kevään synttärirumban aloittaa veljenpojistani vanhin, jonka syntymäpäivä oli kuluneella viikolla mutta juhlat huomenna. Tällä kertaa tein synttärisankarille yhteensä kolme korttia, yhden meiltä, yhden isovanhempiensa annettavaksi ja yhden isoisoäitinsä annettavaksi - tämä kortti on meiltä. Synttärisankari täyttää jo 11 vuotta, joten koitin tehdä korteista hieman erilaisia kuin aikaisemmin, hieman "isomman pojan" kortteja. Saa nähdä, onnistuinko.... (Onko muilla yhtä vaikeaa tietää, minkälainen kortti olisi omiaan minkäkin ikäiselle lapselle? Vai olenko minä ainoa, joka on niin hukassa eri ikäisten mieltymyksistä?) Tämän kortin idea lähti tuosta taustapaperista, joka on October Afternoonin 5 & Dime -paperikosta, siitä tulivat kortin värit ja tyyli. Tähdet stanssasin Spellbindersin stansseilla ja alla olevan mustan kartongin 'rei'itin' Memory Boxin stanssilla ja sen alle laitoin näkymään punaista kartonkia. Taustapaperiin roiskin hieman mustaa akryylimaalia ja samaa sotkin hieman tähtiinkin. Lisäksi vielä Holtzin Tiny Tabs and Tags -stanssilla tehty pieni tagi, jossa onnittelu. Tagin kiinnitin haaraniitillä.

In our family, spring is full of birthdays and the first to celebrate is the eldest of my nephews. His actual birthday was a few days ago but the birthday party is tomorrow, and this year I made him three cards in total, one from us, one for his grandparents to give to him, and one for his greatgrandmother to give to him. This card is from us. The birthday boy celebrates his 11th birthday and this time I tried to make his cards a bit more 'grown up', more suitable for a big boy - let's see if I succeeded.... (I always find it so hard to determine what kind of card is suitable for children of certain ages, I'm always afraid I make my cards either too childish or too grown up). The inspiration for this card came from the paper I used in the background, it's the '5 & Dime' series by October Afternoon. I die cut the stars with Spellbinders dies and the black cardstock behind it with a Memory Box die, I then placed a piece of red cardstock behind the black one so that it shows through the little holes. I die cut the tiny tag with a Tim Holtz die (Tiny Tabs and Tags) and stamped the sentiment, 'Congrats', on it and attached it with a black brad. I also splattered some black acrylic paint on the background paper and smeared it on the stars as well to give a bit of grungey feel. Tomorrow we'll see how the birthday boy likes it...

CAS perhosia - CAS butterflies

Tein tällaisen kortin taannoisen lahjontani mukaan. Yritin tehdä siitä mahdollisimman tyylikkään CAS-kortin, koska oletan lahjonnan voittajan pitävän CAS-tyylistä. Korttipohjan taittelin 4cc-kartongista (kiitos, SannaS! ;) ) ja leikkasin sen reunaan Memory Boxin Butterfly Delights -stanssilla rivin perhosia (yllättäen huomasin muuten, että tuo stanssi on yhden perhosen verran liian pitkä mahtumaan Cuttlebugin suusta sisään, eli sitä ei saa leikkaamaan suoraan tuohon kortin reunaan. Hieman harmittaa tämä....). Perhosten taustaksi laitoin pinkkiä kartonkia, josta leikkasin myös yhden ylimääräisen perhosen tekstin viereen. Tekstileima on Papertrey Inkin. Koristeeksi yksi helmi ja soon siinä! ;)

I made this card to go with my recent giveaway. I tried to make it as elegant and as CAS as I could because I imagine that the person who won my giveaway likes CAS cards. I folded the card blank from pure white cardstock and die cut the row of butterflies with a Memory Box die 'Butterfly Delights' (this is my newest die and I noticed when making this card that it can't fit through a Cuttlebug - the die is one butterfly too long to be placed straight along the edge of a 2-fold card! Dang it!). I placed some pink cardstock as the background for the butterflies and stamped the Papertrey Ink sentiment with black ink. I added one pink butterfly with a pearl body next to it. And that's it! :)

Napillinen CAS - CAS and a button

Ja lisää CAS-yritelmää.. Tämäkin on luonnoksen mukaan tehty ja tykkään kyllä kortin eri osista mutta en oikein tiedä, toimiiko kokonaisuus vai onko se turhan 'raskas' vasemmalta. Mutta eikö olekin ihana nappi?! Ostin joku aika sitten eräästä osto- ja myyntiliikkeestä laatikollisen vanhoja nappeja muutamalla eurolla ja maltoin jopa käyttää yhden napeista tähän ;) Mutta on se herkku, eikö? :) Paperin olen saanut, joten valmistajaa en tiedä (mutta sekin on ihana ;) ), nauha on tavallista satiininauhaa ja tekstileima FinnStamperilta. Olen muuten hieman harmitellut suomenkielisiä tekstileimasimia, toivoisin niin kovasti löytäväni tyylikkäitä (tyylikkäällä, ei siis hauskalla tai söpöllä, fontilla) tekstileimasimia muillakin teksteillä kuin onnea tai kiitos tai niiden variaatioilla mutta tuntuu, ettei niitä löydy. Esim. Hero Artsilla ja Papertrey Inkillä on todella kauniita tekstileimoja erilaisilla teksteillä ja sen tyylisiä haluaisin suomenkielisinäkin (tuntuisi jotenkin hassulta käyttää englanninkielisiä leimoja omissa korteissa, joten en ole noita Heroja yms. ostanut). Ja vielä kun olisivat akryylileimoja niin kaikki olisi kohdillaan. Vinkkejä siis otetaan vastaan! ;)

Another day, another CAS card. This is also for the Clean and Simple course and made using a sketch. I love the different elements of this card but I'm not sure if the whole card 'works' or not, maybe it's a bit heavy on the left side (maybe the paper is too busy?)? But what do you think of the button, isn't it gorgeous?! Some time ago I bought a box full of buttons from an antique/secondhand shop for basically nothing - what a find! :) This button is one of those buttons. I don't know the manufacturer of the paper but it's pretty too :) The satin ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment says 'congrats'.

Mulla on uusi ihastus! :) Washi-teipit! :) Löysin tieni Teippitarhaan ja ostin itselleni pari rullaa teippejä - nii-in, mulla on uskomaton mielenlujuus, sain rajoitettua ostokseni pariin rullaan... Järkyttynyt olen tästä minäkin! ;) Ajattelin koittaa tehdä mahdollisimman simppelin kortin, joissa pääosassa olisi washi-teippi ja tällainen siitä tuli. Sekä korttipohjan että tuon neliön reunat on kantattu teipillä, neliö kohotettu tarrapaloilla ja siihen liimasin stanssatun tähden. Lisäksi tekstileimaa Merjan ja Pammun setistä ja siinä se, taas kerran. Osallistun tällä seuraaviin haasteisiin:

I am smitten! On masking tapes/washi tapes (whichever term you want to use)! :) I went on a shopping spree in Teippitarha and, lo and behold, I was able to restrain myself - I only bought a couple of rolls of tape! I know, I'm shocked myself... ;D So, with my new loves at hand, I thought I'd make a really simple Christmas card. I applied the tape on the edges of the cardblank and on the square in the middle, glued a die cut bauble on the square (which, by the way, is raised with foam pads) and stamped the sentiment ('Christmas joy'). That was it, simples! Again! ;) I'll submit this card to the following challenges:

Tänään oli iloinen postipäivä. Voitin joku aika sitten Paolo Coelhon uusimman kirjan 'Alef' Coelhon nimikirjoituksella varustettuna (!) ja tänään se tuli postissa. Minä ainakin tiedän, mitä tulevina vapaahetkinä teen... ;) Tänään on hyvä päivä! :)

Kaikenlaista stanssattua - A die cut this and a die cut that

Tähän korttiin tuli käytettyä vähän kaikkea enkä loppuviimein tiedä, toimiiko koko kokonaisuus... Stanssasin tähän joulutähden Marianne Designin stanssilla, doilyn Papertrey Inkin stanssilla, nuo vellumin reunat Nellie Snellenin stanssilla, tagin leimasin 7Gypsiesin leimalla ja leikkasin irti ja tekstileima on Merjan ja Pammun setistä. Koristeina on kaikkea mahdollista helmistä ja tiu'uista nuppineulaan ja huopanappiin ja paperi on BasicGreytä. Ajattelin osallistua tällä P*skarteluhaasteeseen, jossa haluttiin käytettävän kakkupapereita. Hmm, ihan kaupasta ostettua paperista kakkupaperiahan tässä ei ole mutta mikäli stanssattu doily käy, niin mukana ollaan! :)

I used a bit of everything in this card and I'm not sure whether it works or not in the end... I used heaps of dies for this, a poinsettia die by Marianne Design, a doily die by Papertrey Ink, and a border die by Nellie Snellen (the edges of vellum are cut with it). The tag is a stamp by 7Gypsies, I stamped it on white paper and cut out and stamped the sentiment on it (which says 'Merry Christmas'). As embellies there are everything from pearls and bells to pins and felt buttons, and the paper is by BasicGrey. So, as I said, a little this and a little that! I'd like to submit this card to P*skarteluhaaste challenge blog where the challenge (ending tonight!) is to use a doily. I know there's no store-bought paper doily anywhere near my card but if a die cut doily is ok, then I'm in! :)

Ruusukkeella - With a rosette

Tässä näytille yksi simppeli kiitoskortti, jonka tein ennen kuin Maailman Suloisin Pieni Poika ja minä saimme kauhean flunssan :| Pohjan tähän tein vetelemällä Distress Inkiä (Dried Marigold) tyynystä suoraan paperille ja sen jälkeen leimaamalla päälle Hero Artsin Envelope Patternilla ja Tea Dye DI:llä, jota sudin hieman paperin reunoihinkin. Tea Dyella tein myös tuon ruskean "palkin", johon leimasin ruskealla Versafinella FinnStamperin kiitos-leiman. Koristeeksi väkersin ruusukkeen, jonka keskelle laitoin kohokuvioidun tähden (tosin se kohokuviointi ei taida sieltä kovin hyvin näkyä) ja ruusun. Lisäksi koristeina siellä täällä timantteja.

Here's a quick thank you card I made just before this awful flu hit the Cutest Little Boy in the World and I :| I made the background by sweeping Dried Marigold Distress Ink straight from the pad to white cardstock and then stamping it with Hero Arts' Envelope Pattern and some Tea Dye DI, I also added some of that to the edges of the cardstock. I coloured the brown banner also with some Tea Dye DI and stamped the sentiment ('thank you') with brown Versafine ink. As embellies I used a rosette I made, and added a dry embossed star (although the embossing probably doesn't really show..) and a rose to it. There are also some rhinestones here and there.

Piirrustelua - Doodling

Jo on aikoihin eletty - minä piirtelen korttiin! *järkytys* :D Mielessäni pyöri kuva clean and simple -tyylisestä kortista, joten kokeilin tehdä sen ihan piirtelemällä. Voitin tuossa joku aika sitten valtaisan setin kyniä Kuretaken blogista ja niitä käytin tähän. Pallot piirsin Crafter's Workshopin sapluunan avulla mustalla Millennium-kynällä, samalla kynällä piirsin reunuksen ja pallojen narut. Pallot väritin Kuretaken Writer-kynillä (jotka on kai tarkoitettu enemmänkin kirjoittamiseen mutta kyllä niillä nyt tällaiset pienet pallot värittää), lisäksi siniseen palloon laitoin Wink of Stella -kimallekynää. Harmi, kun nuo kimalteet yleensä näkyy niin huonosti kuvissa, mutta nuo Wink of Stellat on mielestäni yhdet parhaista kimallekynistä, joita minulla on ollut, niissä on juuri sopivasti kimalletta, ei liikaa mutta kuitenkin niin, että "luonnossa" ne säihkyvät nätisti. Vihreään palloon lisäsin Distress Sticklesiä (Rock Candy) ja punaiseen palloon laitoin Glossya. Tekstileima on Stempelkellerin. Ehdin osallistua tällä vielä viime tipassa Lauran korttihaasteeseen #1, haasteena on tehdä kortti syntymäkuukauden mukaan ja koska olen melko lailla keskellä joulukuuta syntynyt, niin joulukortilla sitten osallistun haasteeseen :)

Well, whaddaya know - I doodled on a card! *shockhorror* :D I had this idea of a clean and simple style of Christmas card that I wanted to doodle and as I won a set of pens from the Kuretake blog some time ago, I thought I'd make the card with them. I drew the Christmas baubles with the help of a Crafter's Workshop template using the black Millennium pen, I drew all the black bits with the same pen. I coloured the baubles with the Kuretake Writer pens (which are meant for writing, I guess, but are just ok for colouring small bits like these) and added a blue Wink of Stella glitter pen to the blue bauble. These glitter pens are probably the nicest I've ever had, I love the subtle glitter they give, it looks great in real life. I added some Distress Stickles (Rock Candy) to the green bauble and some Glossy Accents to the red one. The sentiment says 'Peaceful Christmas'. I'll submit this to the new Finnish challenge blog Lauran korttihaaste, the first ever challenge there is to make a card that has something to do with your birth month and as I was born right in the middle of December, I thought a Christmas card would be perfect fit for it.

Mutta mitä mieltä olet, toimiiko tämä vai kannattaisiko jättää piirustelut vähemmälle, rehellisiä mielipiteitä kaivataan! :) (Näin jälkeenpäin ajatellen nuo pallot ja teksti olisivat voineet ainakin olla hiukkapikkuisen alempana, ovat jotenkin liian keskellä nyt...) But now, give me your honest opinion, does this 'work' or should I just not doodle at all? :D I think those baubles and the sentiment should have been a little lower, they're somehow too in the middle now...

Pinkkejä roiskeita jouluksi - Pink splatters for Christmas

Jee, ensimmäiset joulukortit on tehty!!! Aloitin ihan tällaisella simppelillä linjalla, ei mitään ylettömän jouluista mutta joulukortti silti. Ostin joku aika sitten Suomalaisesta alennuksella muutaman kanvaasilehtiön, josta nyt sitten leikkelin korttiin taustan. Tuolle taustalle roiskin vedellä ohennettua pinkkiä akryylimaalia pensselillä. Pinkistä aaltopahvista leikkasin sitten neliön, jolle liimasin Marianne Designin stanssilla stanssatun joulupallon, jonka koristin yksinkertaisella satiinirusetilla - pinkillä tietenkin :) Olivat sen verran helppoja tehdä, että tein tällaisia heti muutaman. Ja koska P*skiksessa "sattui sopivasti" ;) olemaan aaltopahvihaaste, linkitän korttini sinne :)

Wahey, I've made my first Christmas cards for this year!!! I started with these simple and not-so-overly-Christmassy cards just to ease myself into the Christmas card mode, I'm hoping the mode will stay with me so I can get some Christmas cards done before the dreaded 'Christmas card panic' kicks in ;) Anyways, onto the card. I bought some canvas pads a while ago from the local bookshop (at a reduced price, I might add :) ) and now I cut the background for my card from the canvas and splattered some pink acrylic paint on it, I had dilluted the paint with some water to make it more "splatterable" (I'm sure that is an actual word... hee hee!). Then I cut a square from pink corrugated cardboard and adhered a Christmas bauble on it, I die cut the bauble with a Marianne Design die. Then I just decorated the bauble with a simple satin ribbon - pink satin ribbon, of course ;) These were so quick and easy to make that I made four of them while I was at it.
P*skarteluhaaste challenge blog just happens to host a challenge this week where you have to use corrugated cardboard in your make so I'll submit my card there.

Ja taas mennään kaksi vuotta vanhempaan synttärisankariin, tämä kortti meni siis miehen 18 vuotta täyttäneelle veljenpojalle. En oikein tiedä, mitä sain aikaan tämän kortin kanssa.... aluksi minulla oli johtoidea, sitten se tuntui katoavan, sitten tuli joku idea mutta en tiedä, sainko siitäkään oikein kiinni - tällainen lopputulos kuitenkin tuli. Tein taustan ColorCoren kartongilla, jonka päällyosa on musta ja alta tulee kaunis sininen (tästä kartongista kiitos Kissinialle!). Kohokuvioin sen siis Holtzin kohokuviointitaskulla ja hioin koholla olevat osat niin, että sininen näkyi sieltä hieman paremmin. Rattaat stanssasin niinikään Holtzin stansseilla, maalasin valkoisella crackle paintilla ja sudin aavistuksen sinistä mustetta päälle. Kiinnitin ne tarrapaloilla ja yhdistin palloketjulla. Numeron stanssasin Chip Block -stanssilla ja päällystin glossylla. Sitten koko komeus vain sinisestä kartongista taitellulle korttipohjalle ja siinä se.

And again we're moving on to an older birthday boy, this card went to hubby's nephew who turned 18. I'm not really sure about this card, I have to confess. At first I had a brilliant idea, then it kind of disappeared but I came up with another idea but then that seemed to vanish, too... and  this is what I ended up with. I made the background with a ColorCore cardstock that has a black surface and this beautiful shade of blue underneath (thank you, Kissinia, for this! :) ). I embossed it with a Tim Holtz embossing folder and then sanded it to highlight the embossing a bit more. Then I die cut the gears with a Tim Holtz die, painted them with white crackle paint and stained very lightly with blue ink. I attached them to the background with 3D foam pads and joined them with a chain. I die cut the number with Chip Block die and applied Glossy Accents on it. Then I just adhered the whole thing to a card blank that I had folded from blue cardstock.

Ajan rattaat - The gears of time

Vaikka sain postaukseen, jossa esittelin veljeni synttärikortin, vinkin, että veljeni saattaa joskus käydä blogissani (terve vaan! :) ), ajattelin silti uskaltautua postaamaan toisen hänelle tekemäni kortin ennenkuin hän sen saa. Synttäribileet pidetään jo huomenna, joten tuskinpa hänellä on nyt aikaa surffailla netissä (kuuluisat viimeiset sanat..? ;) ). Sen edellisen postaamani kortin veljelleni antaa vanhempamme ja tämän tämänkertaisen annamme me, siksi siis tein kaksi korttia.

As I told you earlier, my brother's 40th birthday is coming and eventhough I received a comment telling that he sometimes visits my blog on the post where I showed you a card I made for him, I think I'll be brave enough to show you another card I made for him before he receives it. His birthday party's held tomorrow so I'm pretty confident he doesn't have the time to surf the net just now (or so I hope... ;) ). The car card is given to my brother by our Mum and Dad and this one is given by us.

Tähän korttiin en käyttänyt oikeastaan mitään valmista vaan väkersin melkeinpä kaiken itse. Taustan tein Distress Inkeillä ja Tsukinekon Goosebumps -tekstuurispraylla - ensin siis paperille keltaista ja oranssia DI:ä, sitten Goosebumpsia päälle ja sitten vielä ruskeita DI:jä. Rattaat stanssasin Tim Holtzin stansseilla ja ne on kiinnitetty tarrapaloilla korttipohjaan. Isoimpaan rattaaseen tein hieman ruostetta Distress Inkeillä ja kirkkaalla kohojauheella ja vasemmassa yläkulmassa olevaan rattaaseen levitin Distress Inkin päälle kirkasta Crackle Paintia. Muut rattaat käsittelin musteilla ja eri tavoin ressaamalla. Numerot stanssasin Holtzin Chip Block -stansseilla ja mustetin DI:llä ja onnea-pallon leimasin FinnStamperin leimalla. Kiinnitin numerot ja pallon vanhoista korvakoruista irrottamillani ketjuilla. Lisäksi nurkkiin laitoin ruuvihaaraniitit. Osallistun tällä kortilla Theme Thursday Challengeen, teemana maskuliiniset kortit.

Basically everything on this card I made myself (except of course a couple quite obvious things..). I made the background with some Distress Inks and Tsukineko's Goosebumps texture spray - first I applied some yellow and orange DI to the cardstock, then sprayed some Goosebumps on it and then applied some brown DIs on top. The gears I die cut with Tim Holtz's dies and they're attached to the card with 3D foam pads. I made some "rust" on the biggest gear with DIs and clear embossing powder and even if I say so myself, I think it looks quite cool ;) I applied some DIs and clear Crackle Paint on the gear on the top left hand's side. The other two gears I distressed with DIs and various other ways including sanding, glueing, etc. I die cut the numbers with Holtz's Chip Block dies and applied some DI on them. I attached the numbers and the sentiment circle (it says 'congrats') using some old chain that I got from old pair of earrings. Then I just added the screw brads on the corners. I'd like to enter this card to the Theme Thursday Challenge, the theme this week is masculine cards.

Vielä ennenkuin lopettelen, ajattelin hehkuttaa, miten ylpeä olen Maailman Suloisimmasta Pienestä Pojasta :) Hän nukkui viime yön omassa huoneessaan ensimmäistä kertaa elämässään!!! Tähän asti poika on nukkunut kaikki yönsä meidän makuuhuoneessamme (eli korkeintaan käsivarren mitan päässä minusta..) mutta nyt hän siirtyi siis omaan huoneeseensa. Luulenpa, että hänelle muutos oli paljon helpompi kuin minulle... Minä nimittäin hermoilin pää kipeänä hänen pärjäämistään! ;) Mutta kaikki meni hyvin ja äiti on nyt niin kauhean ylpeä pojastaan! 8)

Before I go, I want to tell you just how proud I am of The Cutest Little Boy in the World :) Last night was the first night in his whole life that he slept alone in his own room!!! Before last night he had slept in our bedroom (i.e. from arm's length from me..) but now he slept in his own room. I think the change was far easier for him that it was for me... I was worried sick (literally! I had headache!) of how he'd cope alone but everything went just fine and now I'm sooo proud of him! 8)
