Scrap a Happy Christmas - Christmas Cards out of Craft Scraps! Challenge

Marraskuun ensimmäinen tuo mukanaan uutta haastetta... Nimittäin Korttikarkurissa alkaa uusi joulukorttihaaste ja nyt olisi tarkoitus käydä ronskilla kädellä siellä sälälaatikolla. Haaste on nimeltään Scrap a Happy Christmas - Christmas Cards out of Craft Scraps ja Korttikarkurin Nonni kuvailee sitä näin:

Let's make Christmas cards using leftovers! If you are nothing like me your paper scraps box is overflowing and you might even have some odd, forgotten embellishments... Let's be creative getting rid of our stash and make Christmas cards out of old bits and pieces. All styles are welcome!

Joulukortti tulisi tehdä siis ylijäämävarastoja hyödyntäen (esim. ylijääneet paperinpalat, vanhat koristeet jne). Tyyli on taas vapaa ja haaste on käynnissä marraskuun alusta jouluaattoon, joten aikaa osallistua on reilusti. Ja kyllä, taas on palkintoakin luvassa :)

Oman korttini tein vanhoista jouluaiheisista kuviopapereista, joista leikkasin sentin levyisiä soiroja, jotka punoin tuollaiseen tilkkutäkkityyliin. Stanssasin valkoiseen kartonkiin tähden, jonka alle kiinnitin tilkkutäkkini ja sitten koko paneeli korttipohjaan kiinni tarrapaloilla. Tekstileimasin on FinnStamperin (ja se on muuten sama, jota käytin edellisen, edelleen käynnissä olevan, haasteen mallikorttiin) ja leimattu Hero Artsin Shadow Inkillä.

Mutta nyt kannattaa kyläillä Korttikarkurin puolella ihailemassa muiden DT:läisten kortteja ja osallistumassa itse haasteeseen. Askartelun iloa! :)

It's the 1st of November which means it's time for a new challenge... Korttikarkuri is once again hosting a Christmas card challenge and now we're looking for Christmas cards made using scraps. The challenge is called 'Scrap a Happy Christmas - Christmas Cards out of Craft Scraps' and this is what Nonni says about it: 

 Let's make Christmas cards using leftovers! If you are nothing like me your paper scraps box is overflowing and you might even have some odd, forgotten embellishments... Let's be creative getting rid of our stash and make Christmas cards out of old bits and pieces. All styles are welcome!

The challenge runs from November 1st until Christmas Eve, December 24th so you'll have plenty of time to participate :) And yes, there'll be a prize, too... :)

For my sample card I used some old Christmas themed patterned papers which I trimmed so that they were about 1 cm wide each. Then I simply weaved them together and adhered to a piece of scrap paper. I die cut a piece of white cardstock with a star die and attached the 'quilt' underneath it. I stamped the sentiment (it says 'Merry Christmas Happy New Year' and it's the same stamp I used in this sample card for the previous challenge) with Hero Arts Shadow Ink, and attached the whole panel on my card base with foam adhesives.

Muistathan leimailla jouluun? :) - Remember to 'Stamp a Happy Christmas'! :)

Niin se vain aika juoksee, lokakuukin on jo puolessa - ja joulukorttien kanssa ei ole eikä tule kiirettä, ei ei... ;) Nyt onkin hyvä aika muistutella Korttikarkurin joulukorttihaasteesta Stamp a Happy Christmas, johon voi siis osallistua joulukortilla, joka on tehty pääasiassa leimaillen. Tekniikka ja tyyli on vapaa, kunhan leimailua löytyy. Haastehan jatkuu jouluaattoon asti, eli vielä on hyvin aikaa osallistua :) Tein tämän oman korttini sillä ajatuksella, että aina joulukortin tekoon ei tarvita varsinaista jouluaiheista (kuva)leimasinta vaan ihan tekstileimasinkin riittää. Leimasin siis valkoiselle kartongille FinnStamperin tekstileimalla ja Hero Artsin musteella (Red Royal) "sikin sokin" ja tein näin oman kuviopaperini. Sen alta näkyvän punaisen reunan tein vetämällä samalla musteella valkoisen kartongin reunat punaiseksi, näin se varmasti on samaa sävyä tekstin kanssa. Lisäksi vain leveää satiininauhaa ja kerrostus korttipohjaan.

It seems that time flies like mad these days, it's already mid-October and soon it'll be Christmas... Anyone else panicking with finding time to make Christmas cards? Or is it just me? Well, maybe this is a good time to remind you of the challenge over at the Korttikarkuri blog, 'Stamp a Happy Christmas'. As you might remember, all that is required is a Christmas card made mainly with stamping, that's all. Any style, any technique, just as long as stamping has the main focus. There's still plenty of time to enter as the challenge runs till Christmas Eve. The thought behind my sample card (yes, I know it's shocking but there is a thought! LOL!) is that you don't need fancy Christmas-themed stamps to make a Christmas card, all that you need is a good sentiment stamp. Here I've used a sentiment stamp that says 'Merry Christmas Happy New Year' in Finnish and stamped it repeatedly on white cardstock with Hero Arts shadow ink in 'Red Royal' and thus made my own patterned paper so to say. The red edge that you see peeking behind it is actually white cardstock that I coloured red with swiping the 'Red Royal' ink on the edges of plain white cardstock, this way it's sure to match with the stamping. Then I just tied some satin ribbon into a bow and matted everything on a card base.

Let's get inky - Stamp a happy Christmas! Challenge

Ja nyt jotain hieman erilaista... Nimittäin ihana Nonni Korttikarkuri-blogista järjestää joulukorttihaasteen ja hän pyysi minua haasteen DT-tiimiin (hurjaa! :) Kiitos, Nonni! :) ). Ja haaste siis kuuluu näin:

Let's create Christmas cards with stamping playing the main role! You could use fun techniques like masking and and combine background stamps with smaller stamps... Or how about using non-Christmas stamps for Christmas and playing with some embossing powders? Or stamping with watercolors? Or tone on tone stamping maybe? The possibilities are endless... Let's get inky and creative! You can choose any style from CAS to vintage, what ever you like the best... You can use embellishments too -just don't cover up your fabulous stamping completely!  

Eli tarkoitus on siis tehdä joulukortteja leimaillen! Kortissa käytetty tekniikka ja tyyli saa olla ihan mitä haluat, kunhan pääpaino on leimailussa. Koristeitakin saat käyttää, kunhan annat leimailun loistaa pääosassa. Haaste on voimassa 1.10.-24.12. ja siihen saat osallistua niin monta kertaa kuin haluat. Saat osallistua kortillasi samalla myös muihin haasteisiin, rajoituksia ei ole. Kannattaa siis osallistua, luvassa on inspiraatiota ja vauhtia joulukorttisavottaan ja kuka tietää, saatat myös voittaa palkinnon (arvotaan random.orgin ystävällisellä avustuksella).

Tässä oma mallikorttini. Leimasin kraft-korttipohjalle Hero Artsin Magical Background -taustaleiman Versamarkilla ja embossasin pehmeän valkoisella jauheella. Tekstileima (FinnStamperin) on niinikään embossattu tuollaiselle pienelle bannerille, jonka alla on toinen banneri vellumista. Joulukuusi on Hero Artsin ihana Shari's tree no. 2, leimasin sen kartongille ja väritin Prismacoloreilla, tähdessä on lisäksi hieman Wink of Stella -kimallekynää. Koristeiksi hieman timantteja. Kortin kannen stanssasin Simon Says Stampin stanssilla kaarevaksi ja kortin sisäosan reunaan laitoin hieman washiteippiä.

Ja nyt kannattaa käydä Korttikarkurissa inspiroitumassa muiden DT:läisten upeista korteista ja osallistumassa itse haasteeseen! Leimailun iloa! :)

Sounds fun, doesn't it? The challenge runs from October 1st until Christmas Eve, December 24th, so you'll have plenty of time to participate. You can enter as many times as you want and if you like, you can also combine this challenge with other challenges. There'll be a prize, too... :)  (Winner will be chosen at random with random.org so everyone has a fair chance). 

For my card, I used a kraft coloured card base and stamped 'Magical Background' by Hero Arts with some Versamark ink and heat embossed it with seafoam white embossing powder. I used the same powder to heat emboss the sentiment (it says 'Happy Christmas' in Finnish) on the little banner which I attached on a larger banner die cut from vellum. The gorgeous Christmas tree is a Hero Arts stamp called 'Shari's tree no. 2' which I stamped on some cardstock and coloured with Prismacolor pencils, there's some clear Wink of Stella glitter pen on the star as well. I embellished the tree with some rhinestones. I die cut the curved edge of the front of the card base with a Simon Says Stamp die, and used some washi tape to decorate the inside edge of the card.
