Talo - A house

Huomasin, että Craft Barnin blogissa on menossa järjestyksessä ensimmäinen art journal -haaste, joten pitäähän siihen osallistua. Haasteen aiheena on 'rakennukset' ja sen sai tulkita, miten haluaa. Aihe ei herättänyt minussa mitään henkilökohtaisia ahaa-elämyksiä, joten tutkailin netistä rakennuksiin tai taloihin liittyviä sitaatteja ja löysin sellaisen Ralph Waldo Emersonilta. Siitä kehittelin sitten tällaisen sivun (kooltaan muuten n. 14x14 cm), hieman enemmän ehkä hauskan ja söpöisen kuin erityisen taiteellisen mutta hyvä näinkin.

I noticed that there's an art journal challenge (the first of its kind, I might add) going on over at the Craft Barn blog with the theme of 'buildings'. I thought I'd go about this by searching the net for quotations regarding buildings or houses and came up with a quotation by Ralph Waldo Emerson. I thought it was nice so I made my page (which, by the way, is a square one, sized about 14x14 cm) around that. The page turned out quite cute and fun (rather that "seriously arty") but I guess that's fine, too.

Tepasteleva pukki - The jolly Santa

Taas pukkaa joulukorttia ja "yllättäen" taas DoodleFactoryn joulupukin kera. Tuo pukki on jotenkin niin reipas ja iloinen :) Pukin värittelin taas ProMarkereilla, paitsi kaikki valkoiset osat kirkkaalla Kuretaken Wink of Stella -kimallekynällä, ja kiinnitin tarrapaloilla. Lippunauhan tein washi-teipistä ja puuvillanarusta ja kiinnitin sen parilla haaraniitillä. Lisäksi tein washi-teipistä 'maan', jolla pukki tepastelee (mun mielestä tuo pukki ei kävele vaan nimenomaan tepastelee ;D ). Taustaksi hieman iäisyyden kaappien kätköissä pyörinyttä kuviopaperia ja valkoista Bazzillia ja toivotus FinnStamperin leimalla ja - nyt ne kuuluisat sanat... - siinä se! ;)

Well, whaddaya know - it's another Christmas card and, surprise surprise, with the DoodleFactory's Santa. I just love this santa, he looks so jolly :) I coloured the Santa with ProMarkers and attached him with foam pads. I made the little bunting with some washi tape and some cotton string and added a couple of brads to hold it down. I also used some stripey washi tape for the ground that the Santa prances on. Then there's just some age-old patterned paper that I've never really gotten around to use and some white Bazzill cardstock, and a sentiment that says 'Happy Christmas'.

Tervetuloa kevari! - Welcome light motorcycle!

14-vuotiaasta pari vuotta vanhempaan.. Tällainen kortti meni miehen 16 vuotta täyttävälle veljenpojalle. Kyseinen nuori mies on hehkutellut kevaria jo jonkin aikaa ja ajaa parhaillaan kevarikorttia, siitä se ajatus sitten lähti ;) Polkupyörä on DoodleFactoryn leima, väritin sen ProMarkereilla ja ruksit sen päälle tein ihan paperisuikaleilla. Tähtipaperi on October Afternoonia, ruskea kartonki ColorCorea, numero ja kirjaimet Holtzin Chip Block -stanssilla tehty ja 'tervetuloa' on ihan vain dymotettu.

We're moving on to older birthday boy.. This card went to hubby's nephew who turned 16. The young man in question has been enthusiastic about light motorcycles for a while now and is at the moment in driving school to study for a driving licence for light motorcycles (16 is the age limit for that in Finland) - that's where my inspiration for this card came from! ;) The bicycle stamp is by DoodleFactory, I coloured the image with ProMarkers and added the red cross on it . The starry paper is by October Afternoon and the brown cardstock is by ColorCore. I die cut the number and the word 'kevari' (that's the Finnish colloquial term for a light motorcycle) with Tim Holtz's Chip Block die and the word 'tervetuloa' ('welcome' in Finnish) I wrote with a Dymo. So goodbye to bicycle and welcome to light motorcycles! :)

Maksukortteja - Cards as payment :)

Tässä taannoin ystäväni antoi Maailman Suloisimmalle Pienelle Pojalle (tunnetaan myös meidän poikanamme ;) ) valtavan kasan hänen pojiltaan pieniksi jääneitä vaatteita eikä suostunut ottamaan maksua niistä. Kun ei raha kerran kelvannut, niin tyrkytin hänelle sitten edes korttejani ;) Joidenkin jo valmiiden korttien lisäksi tein hänelle kolme korttia, hän tarvitsi synttärikortteja tytöille, joten niitä sitten tein.

Some time ago my friend gave The Cutest Little Boy in the World (a.k.a. our son ;) ) a huge pile of clothes that her boys had grown out of. She refused to take any money from us so I made her take some of my cards in exchange (aren't I awful?! ;) ). So in addition to a couple of 'old' cards I had at the ready, I made her three new ones. She needed birthday cards for girls so that's what I made.

Ensimmäinen kortti meni vuoden täyttävälle tytölle. Leimakuvaksi tähän valitsin DoodleFactoryn Squirtin, jonka väritin ProMarkereilla. Doilyn Squirtin taakse tein Papertrey Inkin Delightful Doilies -setin leimalla ja stanssilla, kohotin sen sitten tarrapaloilla korttipohjasta. Paperit ovat October Afternoonia tavallisella keltaisella kartongilla höystettynä ja tarra-aakkoset ovat Pink Paisleeta (yhtäkään v:tä ei ollut enää jäljellä, joten leikkasin tupla-w:tä hieman ja tein siitä tavallisen v:n).

The first card I made was for a girl on her first birthday. The stamped image is Squirt by the DoodleFactory and I coloured her with ProMarkers. I made the doily behind her with a die and a stamp from the Papertrey Ink set Delightful Doilies, and raised it from the card blank with 3D foam pads. The papers I used were by October Afternoon and I added some regular yellow cardstock 'here and there'. The alphabet stickers are by Pink Paislee - I didn't have any v's left so I had to cut a w smaller and make a v out of that.

Seuraavista korteista en enää muista, kumpi meni 8 vuotta ja kumpi 10 vuotta täyttävälle, mutta tämä kortti meni kuitenkin poikatytölle, eli prinsessoja ja pinkkiä ei saanut käyttää ;) Käännyin sitten taas Doodlejen puoleen ja ajattelin tämän pirteän Squip-oravan olevan sopiva. Väritys on jälleen kerran ProMarkereilla ja kaikki paperit ovat niinikään October Afternoonia, kartongit ColorCorea. Koristeiksi hieman haaraniitteja, muutama ristipisto ja tähtiklemmari, tekstileima Merjan ja Pammun setistä.

The following cards went to an 8-year-old resp. a 10-year-old but I can't remember which card went for whom anymore. However, this next card went to a tomboyish girl so no princesses and no pink colour! ;) Again I chose a DoodleFactory image, this Squip the Squirrel fitted the bill (or so I hope! ;) ). I coloured Squip with ProMarkers and raised him with 3D foam pads. The papers are again by October Afternoon with some ColorCore cardstock. As embellies I used a couple of brads, a few stitches and a star-shaped paper clip. The sentiment says something like 'to a wonderful gal'.

Seuraava kortti sai sitten olla vähän tyttömäisempi, joten leimakuvaksi valikoitui The Greeting Farmin Dahlia, jonka väritin taas ProMarkereilla. Stanssasin leimakuvan Spellbindersin stanssilla ja lisäsin tytsyn ympärille hieman Distress Inkiä. Paperina October Afternoonia (huomaatko, miten tästä alkaa muodostua näkyviin tietty kaava... ;D ) ja tavallista kartonkia, tekstileima Taitopuoti Paperinauhan setistä. Koristeina sydännapit narulla höystettynä.

The next card is a little more girly. The stamped image is Dahlia by The Greeting Farm, I coloured her with ProMarkers and die cut the image with a Spellbinders die and added some Distress Ink to it. The papers I used are by October Afternoon (see a pattern forming here...? ;D ) and some regular red cardstock. As embellies just a couple of heart-shaped buttons and white twine. The sentiment says something like 'to the birthday girl'.

Sellaiset olivat ne "maksukortit", toivottavasti olivat mieluisia päivänsankareille. Mukava, kun piipahdit blogissani, kommentoi ihmeessä jos ehdit (ja minä kiitän :) ). Hauskaa viikonalkua! :)

Distressiressiä - Stress with Distress

Tulin taannoin puhuneeni varomattomasti ;) Sanoin nimittäin, etten osaa kuvitellakaan värittäväni doodlea muilla kuin ProMarkereilla. Kuinka ollakaan Pammu nappasi tuosta kiinni ja heitti ilmoille haasteen doodlen värittämisestä Distress Inkeillä ja minä menin ottamaan haasteen vastaan... :| Jo koko jutun ajatteleminen aiheutti valtaisaa distressistressiä mutta eipä auta, härkää sarvista ja sitä rataa... Tässä siis distressidoodleja, olkaa hyvä!

Some time ago I spoke a bit carelessly ;) I said that I couldn't imagine colouring a DoodleFactory image with anything else than ProMarkers. As it turned out, the lovely Pammu decided to throw me a challenge: to colour a DoodleFactory image with Distress Inks. And what did I do?! I accepted the challenge! Oh, pity me! I had some considerable stress with Distress (hee hee!) but I have to be a woman of my word... So here come the Distress Doodles!

Ajattelin aloittaa varovaisesti ja värittää pienen doodlen ja hieman verrytellen mennä kohti isompia doodleja. Otin työn alle Caramellon, tuon ihanaisen doodlekarkin, jonka väritys sujuikin ihan mukavasti ilman suurempia ongelmia. Caramellon kuorrutteeksi lisäsin hieman Rock Candy Sticklesiä ja taustaksi BasicGreytä ja ColorCore-kartonkia. Koristeeksi laitoin napin, jonka päälle laitoin siihenkin Rock Candy Sticklesiä ja Glossya, lisäksi hieman narua ja timantin.

I decided I should start off gently and colour a small Doodle and thus ease my way towards the bigger Doodles. So I coloured Caramello - without big problems. I topped Caramello with some Rock Candy Stickles and put her on top of some yummy BasicGrey papers and ColorCore cardstock. As embellie I used a button which I covered in Rock Candy Stickles and some Glossy Accents and added a ribbon and a rhinestone to it.

Sitten kohti isompaa doodlea. Tämä ihanainen on Rose, jonka kanssa sai jo hieman lisätä varjostuksiakin. Ja vaikka itse sanonkin, niin mielestäni onnistuin Rosen kanssa melko hyvin! :) Tämä taitaa itse asiassa olla  yksi parhaita värityksiäni ja olen kyllä melko ylpeä siitä! :) Rosen seurana on October Afternoonin paperia, tavallista kartonkia, vanhaa pitsiä, timantteja ja Stempelkellerin tekstileima. Tämä kortti meni muuten lopulta syntymäpäiväkortiksi pinkistä pitävälle 85 vuotta täyttävälle rouvalle, joten lisäsin siihen pyynnöstä numeron 85, jonka leikkasin kartongista, värjäsin Distresseillä ja päälle lisäsin Glossya. Numeron kiinnitin tuon beigen kartongin oikeaan alareunaan, jossa oli sopivasti tyhjää tilaa. Harmi vain en ehtinyt napata kortista numeroineen kuvaa :/

Then towards a bigger Doodle. This is the lovely Rose to whom I could add some shading as well. And if I may say so, I coloured Rose quite well! :) Actually I think this is one of my best colourings to date and I'm quite proud of it! :) Besides Rose I used some October Afternoon paper, some basic beige coloured cardstock, some old lace, rhinestones and a sentiment that goes something like 'Congrats/happiness to this day, congrats/happiness to days to come'. In the end, this card went to a lady who turned 85 and who likes pink and by request I added the number 85 to the card (to the right corner on the beige cardstock ). I cut the number out of cardstock, coloured with pink Distress Ink and added some Glossy Accents on top of it. I just didn't have time to photograph the card with the number :/

Silloin, kun sanoin nuo kohtalokkaat sanat doodlen värittämisestä, ajattelin oikeastaan niitä creatures-tyylisiä doodleja, joten pitihän minun yksi sellainenkin värittää. Tämä on Snargle, joka toivottelee tässä onnea pian 8 vuotta täyttävälle veljenpojalleni. Snarglen seurana on October Afternoonin papereita, ruskeaa kartonkia, nappeja ja dymotettu teksti.

When I said that I couldn't think of colouring a Doodle with anything else than ProMarkers, I was actually thinking more of the Creatures type of DoodleFactory image. So, I had to colour a Creature as well. This is Snargle and he's congratulating my nephew who soon turns 8. I also used some October Afternoon papers, some brown cardstock, some buttons and a sentiment typed with a Dymo that says 'Congrats, congrats'.

No niin, siinä ne olivat, distressidoodlet. Mitä mieltä olet? Itse taidan hieman laimentaa käsitystäni doodlejen värittämisestä, ehkä niitä voi värittää muillakin kuin tusseilla ;) No, jos totta puhutaan, niin oikeastaan niitä oli ihan kiva värittää Distresseillä, jotenkin niihin sai erilaista fiilistä. Saattaa toki olla, että edelleen tulee automaattisesti kurkoteltua kohti ProMarkereita, kun on kyse doodlen värittämisestä mutta toivottavasti käsi eksyy useammin myös Distresseihin - ellei muuten, niin ihan urautumisen estämiseksi! ;) Kiitos, kun haastoit, Pammu! (Ja tästä lähin olen varovaisempi siitä, mitä sanon.... ;D )

So there they were, the Distress Doodles. What do you think? I think I have to broaden my views a bit when it comes to colouring a DoodleFactory image in the future, maybe they can be coloured with other mediums as well ;) Well, to be honest, I had such fun using the Distress Inks, somehow they gave a whole different feeling to the Doodles than ProMarkers do. I might still reach towards the ProMarkers in the future with Doodles just out of habit but I hope I'll remember the Distress Inks as well when thinking about colouring them - if for nothing else then to avoid being stuck in a colouring rut! ;) And thanks to Pammu for challenging me! :) (Although from now on I'll be a bit more careful with what I say... ;D ).

Hurraa!!! - Hooray!!!

Seurasin eilen Britannian kuninkaallisia häitä tv:stä (kuten ilmeisesti muutama muukin...) ja olihan ne ihanat, morsian oli todella kaunis puvussaan, sulhanen varsin komea ja kaikkinensa häät oli hurmaavat (pieni rojalisti minussa hihkui onnesta ja prinsessasaduista pitävä osa minussa hihkui vielä enemmän ;) ). Kuitenkin astetta tärkeämmät juhlat vietettiin meillä joku aika sitten: meillä oli nimittäin 1-vuotissynttärit! Kyllä, Maailman Suloisin Pieni Poika täytti vuoden!!! Hurraa!!! :) Uskomatonta, miten nopeaan vuosi on kulunut ja miten ihanaa mutta samalla aavistuksen katkeransuloista, että minulla ei ole enää vauvaa vaan taapero.

I watched the royal wedding in Britain on TV yesterday (as I'm sure did a few besides me...) and I loved every minute! The bride was so beautiful in her amazing dress, the groom was ever so dashing and every little detail of the wedding was just gorgeous (yes, the little royalist in me was screaming with joy and the part of me which just loves princesses, princes and fairytales was screaming even more ;) ). However, I might be a bit biased but a party of a little more importance was held at our house some time ago: we celebrated the first birthday of our son!!! Hooray, the Most Wonderful Little Boy In The World (yes, that's his name ;) ) turned one!!! :) Can't believe how quickly the year has passed... It's wonderful but at the same time a bit bittersweet to realise that I no longer have a baby, I have a toddler...

Meidän juhliin juhlaväki kutsuttiin paikalle ihan oikealla kutsulla (kuten varmasti niihin eilisiinkin juhliin... ;) ), jonka taittelin valkoisesta Bazzillin kartongista (kutsu aukeaa ylöspäin). Leimakuvan valmistajaa en tiedä, sain sen aikoja sitten ja käytin vasta nyt ensimmäistä kertaa. Väritin kiraffin Distress Inkeillä ja kohotin tarrapaloilla. Taustan ykkösen leikkasin kartongista ja kohokuvioin Cuttlebugin kansiolla.

I made the invitation (which opens upwards) from white Bazzill cardstock. I used a giraffe stamp I got yonks ago but whose manufacturer I don't know and coloured it with Distress Inks. I then raised the giraffe with 3D foam pads. The number one I cut out of green cardstock and embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.

Synttärikortiksi tein elämäni ensimmäisen spinner-kortin ja leimakuvana käytin DoodleFactoryn Beeboa (ajattelin, että vauva-aika saa näin pyöriä pois ;) ), jonka väritin ProMarkereilla. Beebon käteen laitoin ykkösen, jonka leikkasin kartongista ja jonka reunoille piirsin sinisellä ProMarkerilla reunat, että saisin siihen hieman syvyyttä. Päälle lisäsin aimo kerroksen Glossy Accentsia. Papereina käytin October Afternoonia ja koristeina vain nauhaa ja yhtä nappia.

For his birthday card I made my very first spinner card and used Beebo of DoodleFactory as the image (I thought I'd let the babyhood just spin away ;) ). I coloured Beebo with ProMarkers and attached a number one to his hand. I made the number by cutting it out of blue cardstock and then I drew a line on its edges with a blue ProMarker to get some depth, then I just added quite a bit of Glossy Accents on top of it. The papers I used are by October Afternoon and as embellies I just used some ribbon and a button.

Perfect 10*

Näyttää siltä, että kevät on vihdoinkin tullut: lumi on sulanut hurjaa vauhtia, joesta on jäät lähteneet (satuttiin poikaisen kanssa olemaan joen varrella kävelyllä juuri, kun ottivat ja lähtivät :) ), on näkynyt joutsenauroja, lokkeja, perhosia ja pihan poikki on juossut kesäasuinen lumikkokin ja, mikä mahtavinta, tennarit on saanut ottaa käyttöön! Huisaa!! :D Kevät tuo mukanaan myös varsinaisen synttäriputken, jonka aloittaa veljenpojistani vanhin, joka täytti nyt huimat 10 vuotta! Tein hänelle kaksi kortti, toisen meidän ja toisen mummonsa annettavaksi.

The spring's here, hooray! Snow's melting like mad, the river is free of ice, we've seen swans, seagulls, butterflies and a weasel in his summer fur running through our backgarden and, what's best, I've been wearing sneakers again (that's a sure sign of spring! :) )! Hooray for spring! :) In our family, spring is a time for several birthdays and the first to celebrate is my eldest nephew who turned 10 this spring. I made two cards for him, one for us to give and one for his grandma to give to him.

Tähän ensimmäiseen stanssasin pari tähteä ja leikkasin numeron 10 pahvista. Numeroihin laitoin Distress Inkejä ja hieman vettä perään. Kohotin tähdet ja numerot tarrapaloilla pohjasta, joka on sekin ihan vain ColorCore-pahvista.

For the first card I cut a couple of stars with Spellbinders dies and also cut the number 10 out of cardstock to which I added some Distress Inks and water. I raised the stars and the number with 3D foam pads. The background is made of ColorCore cardstock (as are the stars).

Toiseen korttiin pääsi DoodleFactoryn Pogue, jonka hämmentyneen järkyttynyt ilme kuvaa varsin hyvin sitä, miltä minusta tuntuu se, että veljenpoikani täyttää jo 10... ;) Poguen väritin ProMarkereilla, samoin kuin tuon piirtämäni puhekuplan. Tähden stanssasin kraftista ja kohokuvioin 'puukuosiseksi' ja puun syitä korostin vielä Distress Inkillä. Numerot ja välimerkit ovat BasicGreytä ja Pink Paisleetä, paperit October Afternoonia. Mukana myös muutama pikkuniitti ja ommel.

The second card features Pogue of the DoodleFactory and I think that his facial expression mimics quite well mine when I realised that my nephew actually is already 10 years of age... ;) I coloured Pogue with ProMarkers as I did the speech bubble which I hand drew. I cut the star out of some kraft cardstock with a Spellbinders die and embossed it and highlighted the embossing with some Distress Ink. The numbers and the punctuation marks are stickers by BasicGrey and Pink Paislee, the papers are by October Afternoon. As embellies there are some tiny staples and some stitches.

Hyvää Ystävänpäivää! - Happy Valentine's Day!

Hurttia huumoria ystävälle! :D Käytin tähän korttiin iki-ihanaa DoodleFactorya ja tarkemmin sanottuna iloista pikku Twinkxia, jonka värittelin ProMarkereilla (jännä, että en osaa edes kuvitella värittäväni doodleja muilla kuin tusseilla... Rajoittuneisuutensa kullakin ilmeisesti.. ;D ). Twinkxin silmiin laitoin Glossya (siksi meinasinkin laittaa tämän postauksen otsikoksi 'Hullunkiilto silmissä'... ;D ) ja kruunuun kimallekynää ja timantteja, joita muutenkin lisäilin korttiin melko vallattomasti. Lisäksi laitoin muutaman paljetin ja tähtiklemmarin. Paperit on October Afternoonin ja tekstileima on Merjan ja Pammun setistä.

Hope my friend has her sense of humor intact..! I used Twinkx of the DoodleFactory for this card I made for my lovely friend and I coloured him/her (??) with ProMarkers (I just can't colour DoodleFactory stamps with anything else than markers.. funny that.. ;D ). For Twinkx's eyes I added some Glossy Accents and applied some glitter pen and rhinestones for his/her (which is it, really..) crown. For embellies I used rhinestones quite freely and some sequins and a star-shaped paper clip. The papers are by October Afternoon and the sentiment says 'I'm lucky to have a friend like you'.

Joulupukki matkaan jo käy - Santa Claus is coming to town

Mikäänhän ei tietenkään estä polkkaamasta vaikka kahdesti päivässä, joten tässä päivän toinen kattaus! ;D Näihin pariin korttiin pääsi DoodleFactoryn hauska joulupukki, jonka väritin ProMarkereilla ja kohotin tarrapaloilla. Paperit ovat BasicGreytä ja kahden kuviopaperin väliin laitoin tavallista punaista kartonkia tuomaan selkeyttä. Koristeina on paljetteja, nappeja ja narua, tekstileima molemmissa sama ja löytyypi Merjan ja Pammun setistä.

I'm on a roll here so you get a second set of cards for today! ;D For these I used the DoodleFactory Santa which I coloured with ProMarkers and raised with 3D foam pads. The papers are by BasicGrey and I added some basic red cardstock there, too. As embellies I used some sequins, buttons and ribbon, the sentiment on both the cards says 'Christmas joy'.

Doodlepuut - The DoodleFactory trees

Tänä vuonna tekemistäni joulukorteista nämä ovat ehkä eniten itselleni mieleen, vaikka niissä ei olekaan "joululeimasinta" eivätkä ne nyt erityisen jouluiset ehkä muutenkaan ole. Mutta kuitenkin :) Näissä on siis DoodleFactoryn puuleima embossattu kullalla, taustalle levitin Distress Inkejä ja suihkautin hieman vettä päälle. Puun "hedelmiksi" laitoin dew dropseja. Paperit ovat Graphic45:n ja nauha kangaskaupasta.

Of all the Christmas cards I've made this year, I think these two are my favourites - regardless of the fact that there's no Christmassy stamp, no Christmas sentiment, and well, they're not exactly Christmassy as such. But anyway, me likes them :) I embossed the DoodleFactory's tree stamp with gold powder and added some dew drops as pieces of "fruit". I made the backgrounds with some Distress Inks and spritzed some water on them. The papers I used are by Graphic45.

Lisäyksenä vielä: Unohdin mainita, että kopioin tähän korttiin omaa korttiani! ;) Mielessäni pyöri tämä kortti embossattuna, joten ajattelin koittaa sitä joulukortiksi. Lisäksi baula kyseli rusetin solmimisesta. Olen oikeasti aivan onnetton rusettien kanssa, mutta Dawnin vinkeillä saan jonkinlaisia rusetteja aikaan :)

ETA: I forgot to mention that I copied my own card for this! ;) I was thinking how this card would look great embossed and would be good as a Christmas card, so I had to give it a go. I also got a question about my bow tying. I have to say that I suck at tying bows but with Dawn's help even I can make a decent bow ;)

Valkoparta, vanha ukki - Jolly Santa

Mihinkäs sitä kortintekijä joulukorteista pääsisi... Tuntuu, että tästä jouluun asti voisi tehdä vain ja ainoastaan joulukortteja ja silti niitä ei varmaankaan ehtisi tehdä tarpeeksi (miksi se joulu tulee niin yllättäen joka vuosi..?!). P*skarteluhaasteessa on tällä kertaa haasteena tehdä kortti vain yhdellä värillä ja sen eri sävyillä. Joulukortin kun tein niin valitsin väriksi perinteisen punaisen vaikkakin tuossa itse leimakuvassa nyt on paria muutakin väriä melkeinpä pakosta (toisaalta pinkkipartainen pukki saattaisi olla melko rock... ;) ) mutta se sallittaneen (?). Oli muuten jännä huomata, miten vaikea oli löytää papereita, joissa olisi vain yhtä väriä ja sen eri sävyjä, melkeinpä jokaisessa tuntui olevan jotain muutakin väriä (ellei muuta, niin ainakin valkoista tai mustaa). Tässä paperit on BasicGreytä ja Fancy Pantsia, leimakuva DoodleFactoryn Santa, jonka kohotin 3D-tarroilla, lisänä nappeja ja tussilla väritettyjä tähtitarroja ja suoraa ääriviivaboordia (peitin sillä paperien reunat tuossa stanssilla leikatussa ympyrässä, tuli vähän siistimmän näköinen). Kortin sisälle laitoin korttipohjan väristä kartonkia peittämään noita ympyrän papereita. Niin, ja pukin nenä on punainen ihan vain siitä syystä, että pukki viettää paljon aikaa ulkona kylmässä :D

Pikainen kysymys leimakuvan leikkaamisesta ääriviivoja myöten... Mitä paperia käytät, jos leikkaat leimakuvan irti? Itse olen käyttänyt Canson Illustrationia, koska sille on aivan loistava värittää mutta tuo paperi on melko paksua, jolloin ainakin minun on hankala leikata leimakuvaa siististi (jotenkin tuntuu, että leimakuvan reunoja on sitä vaikeampi leikata siististi mitä paksumpi paperi on). Vaihdanko siis paperia vai hankinko uuden terän paperiveitseen/uudet pinsettisakset?

Well, whatta ya know, it's a Christmas card again! Feels like one should be making these like mad now, otherwise there won't be enough cards come Christmas time (funny how Christmas comes so suddenly every year...). The Finnish challenge blog P*skarteluhaaste has a challenge now where you should make a card with only one colour and its different hues. I chose red as my colour although there are a couple of other colours in the stamped image (a Santa with a pink beard might be a bit too rock... ;) ). The papers are by BasicGrey and Fancy Pants and the image is Santa from the DoodleFactory, Santa is attached with 3D foam stickers. As embellies there are some buttons and stickers that originally were silver but which I coloured red with a marker. I also placed some red cardstock on the inside of the card to cover the backsides of the papers that are in the circle.

Velhomaista - Wizardry

Pääsin juurikin eilen päivittelemästä, että koskahan viimeksi olen nukkunut kokonaisen yön heräämättä kertaakaan enkä edes uskaltanut ajatella, koska seuraavan kerran olisi sellaiseen mahdollisuus mutta annas olla niin meillä nukuttiin viime yö kokonaan ilman yhtäkään yöherätystä! :) Uskomatonta, tältäkö tuntuu, kun ei väsytä..? Mahtavaa, mahtavaa! :) :) :)

Just yesterday I tried to remember when was the last time I've slept a whole night without waking up one single time and I didn't even want to guess when would be the next time I could experience such a joy. But lo and behold! last night the baby slept all night without waking up one single time! And that, of course, means that I didn't have to wake up and now this strange feeling I'm experiencing must mean that I'm not tired... Wohoo! :)

Nyt asiaan pirteänä kuin peipponen! Tässä tulee taas veljenpoikani 5-vuotiskortti, jonka tein äitini tilauksesta. Tein tämän hieman "samaan sarjaan" kuin oman korttini ja laitoin korttiin nököttämään Earwick the Wisen, DoodleFactoryn viisaan velhon. Väritin Earwickin ProMarkereilla ja lisäsin hänen hattunsa tähteen, samoin kuin noihin kahteen Fiskarsin leikkurilla leikattuun tähteen, Sticklesia (jokaisen velhon ympärillähän on hohtoa ;) ). Lisäksi hieman turkoosia punchinellaa, papereita (olisikohan BasicGreyta ja Bazzillia) ja tekstit Merjan ja Pammun setistä.

But now onwards and upwards! :) I made this card for my mother to give to my nephew for his 5th birthday. The lovely wizard is Earwick the Wise of DoodleFactory coloured with ProMarkers. The stars I punched with a Fiskars punch and added some stickles to them and to the little star on Earwick's hat. The papers are by BasicGrey and Bazzill (if I remember correctly...) and the sentiment says 'congrats to a top guy'. There's also some punchinella for added sparkle.

Koti Sir Silimukselle - A home for Sir Silimus

Veljenpojallanikin on syyskuussa synttärit ja kuin tilauksesta StampARTicilla on haaste tehdä kortti linna-sabluunalla. Tuumasta toimeen ja Sir Silimus sai kämpän! :) Leikkasin ensin sabluunan avulla linnanmuotoisen korttipohjan ja sen jälkeen leikkasin linnan eri osat kuviopaperista ja colorcoresta ja pyyhkäisin hieman mustetta reunoihin. Koska en osaa piirtää, tein ikkunat leimaamalla DoodleFactoryn torni-leimalla pari kertaa paperille ja leikkaamalla ikkunat irti tätä linnaa varten. Kaikki muutkin leimat ovat DoodleFactoryn paitsi kirjaimet ovat Finnstamperin, väritys on ProMarkereilla. Lisäsin Glossy Accentsia Sir Silimuksen seipääseen, lintujen pesään ja sienten hattuihin. Lisäksi hieman valkoista kynää sinne tänne. Mielestäni kortista tuli kiva ja sitä oli todella hauska tehdä! :)

My nephew has his birthday in September and as StampARTic has a challenge where you should make a castle card with a template I decided to give Sir Silimus of DoodleFactory a home! :) First I cut the card blank in the shape of the castle, then I cut the different parts of the castle out of designer paper and colorcore cardstock and added some ink on the edges. All the stamps used are by DoodleFactory, except the letters which are by Finnstamper, and are coloured with ProMarkers. I made the windows by stamping a DoodleFactory castle twice on paper and then cutting the windows out for this castle (I just cannot draw to save my life so I had to think of another way to make the windows! ;) ). I added some Glossy Accents to Sir Silimus' spear, the birds' nest and the mushrooms and some white pen here and there. I think the card turned out nice and it was such fun to make! :)

Asennekissa - A cat with an attitude

Pikainen postaus kortin kera tällekin aamulle. Tein viikolla synttärikortin nuorelle miehelle tällä DoodleFactory Tobiaksella. Tobias on niin täynnä coolia asennetta, että yritin tehdä kortistakin eleettömän coolin (tiedä sitten, onnistuinko). Osallistun tällä P*skarteluhaasteeseen, sillä vaikka tässä ei paljon paperia olekaan, on ne vähät jämälaatikosta (mukaanlukien tuo paperi, jolle Tobias on leimattu!).

Just a quick post today to show you a card I made last week. I needed a birthday card for a young man so I reached for Tobias from the DoodleFactory. Tobias is such a cool cat that I tried to make the card as cool as he is (dunno if I succeeded though). I'll enter this to the Finnish challenge blog P*skarteluhaaste, the challenge this week is to use some leftover pieces of paper that all crafters probably have more than a lot.

Love is in the air!

Tein tuossa eräänä päivänä pari korttia, jotka molemmat periaatteessa sopivat kihla- tai hääkortiksikin. Tässä ensimmäisessä käytin Kort og Godtin fillaroivia tenavia (ihana leimasin! :) ) ja jätin kortin taas melko simppeliksi (tuo leima on melko iso, joten kovin paljoa muuta siihen ei edes mahdu ja toisaalta noin kaunis leima saa mielestäni ollakin pääosassa). Embossasin leiman mustalla kohojauheella, joten se on hieman koholla ja kiiltää pikkuisen. Molemmista jätin tekstileiman vielä pois, leimaan ne mahdollisesti sitten, kun tiedän, mihin kortteja tarvitsen!

The other day I made a couple of cards which both could serve as an engagement or a wedding card. In this first I used Kort og Godt's stamp Barn på sykkel (love it! :) ) and left the card quite simple without much fuss (the stamped image is quite big so not much else fits on a card and if the stamped image is as beautiful as this - why not let it take the pride of place!). I left the sentiment out of both the cards, I'll stamp them later when I need the cards.

Tämä toinen on sitten "hieman" eri tyylinen... ;) DoodleFactoryn Pip ja Oggyhan se tässä, ihanat lintuset! Leimasin tipuset suoraan värilliselle paperille, joten niitä ei tarvinnut värittää. Ostin aikoinaan omia häitäni varten askartelukaupasta puusydämen (jota en sitten tarvinnutkaan...), käytin sitä sabluunana tuohon sydämeen. Lisäksi pari pikkuniittiä, nappi ja Glossy Accentsia lintujen nokkiin.

This second card is somewhat different in style... ;) It's Pip and Oggy from the DoodleFactory, the lovely lovebirds! I stamped them on some coloured paper so I didn't have to colour them. I bought this wooden heart for my own wedding "ages ago" ;) but I didn't need it then. Here I used it to outline and cut out the heart for this card. Then I just added a couple of tiny staples, a button and some Glossy Accents for the beaks of the birds.

Halinalle - Huggable

Tai ainakin jonkin sortin haliotus on tämä seuraava. Jälleen kerran DoodleFactorya (lupaan, että seuraavaksi tulee jo jotain muuta! ;) ), tällä kertaa kyseessä on Spinkle Creatures II -setistä. Spinkle on saanut hiukan kiiltoa iloisen pinkkiin otsikseensa Glossy Accentista ja eksyipä sinne pari hitusta kultaista kohojauhettakin mutta kukapa ei tykkäisi hiukan "bling-blingistä" tukassaan! ;)

Here's a creature for hugging! Once again I have a DoodleFactory card to show you (promise I'll have something else next time..! ;) ), this one is Spinkle from the Creatures II set. Spinkle has a bright pink fringe with nice and healthy shine thanks to some Glossy Accents and a couple of specks of gold embossing powder - a touch of "bling bling" ;) The sentiment says 'hugs'.

Lisää doodleja - More DoodleFactory

Kuten edellisessä postauksessa lupasin (uhkasin..?!), doodleilla jatketaan. Tällä kertaa uutena tulokkaana on Clowd, toisessa kortissa on jo kertaalleen korttiin päässyt Cappie (miten se voikaan näyttää niin suloisen hämmentyneeltä..? :) ). Muuten jatketaan taas melko perinteisillä linjoilla, sama pohja mutta eri värit/paperit, nappeja, pompulanauhaa ja niitä pikkuniittejä - ei kai niillä voi kovin metsään mennä?! ;)

As I promised in the last post, here comes a couple more DoodleFactory cards. This time there's Clowd who appears for the first time in my cards, and the ever-so-sweet but slightly confused looking Cappie who I'm using for the second time (can't resist him, he's so sweet!). Otherwise these are pretty basic cards, the same layout in both, different colours/papers, some pom-pom ribbon and the tiny staples - can't go much wrong with them, can you? ;) The sentiment in the first card says '25 - again?!' and in the second one 'You probably thought I forgot. You're wrong - I just didn't remember!'.

Omituisten otusten kerho - Creatures

Lisää DoodleFactorya! Ja lisää pikkuniittejä! ;) Edellisen kortin kommenteissa (joista iso kiitos!) huomattiinkin kortissa käytetyt pikkuniitit - paljastuin siis: olen hankkinut uuden lelun, Tim Holtzin pikkunitojan, ja ihastunut siihen ikihyviksi. Nyt niitä niittejä on sitten vähän joka kortissa... Mutta jotenkin DF:n otukset ja pikkuniitit vain sopivat yhteen! Ensimmäisen kortin hemmo on ihana Gumbo ja toisen kortin jamppanen on Flob, molemmat siis DoodleFactoryn Creatures II -setistä.

More DoodleFactory! And more tiny staples! ;) I've bought myself a new toy, the Tim Holtz tiny attacher, and I'm loving the tiny little staples and the effect they give. The only "problem" is that now I can't seem to make a card without them... ;) But somehow the DoodleFactory creatures and the tiny staples just seem to go together well. The dude in the first card is the lovely Gumbo (the sentiment says 'Congrats') and in the second there's Flob (the sentiments are 'Congrats' and 'Hugs'), both from the DoodleFactory Creatures II set.

Näitä DF-kortteja (niiteillä ja ilman ;) ) on valmistunut viime aikoina tiuhaan tahtiin, joten niitä tulee seuraaviinkin postauksiin. Toivottavasti ei kuitenkaan kyllästymiseen asti! ;D Mutta kiitos taas ajastasi tänään ja kiitos, jos ehdit kommentoida! Toivokasta torstaita!

I'm driving only three wheels these days...*

Mitä tekee pienen vauvan äiti kuuden maissa aamulla sunnuntaina syötettyään ja röyhtäytettyään vauvan? No aloittaa kortteilun tietenkin!! Niinpä, niin kova into oli tehdä kortteja, että aamulla en malttanut enää mennä nukkumaan vaan rupesin väsäämään mm. tätä korttia. Ei taida minulla olla ihan kaikki muumit enää laaksossa.... :D Tein tämän P*skarteluhaasteeseen, jossa haasteena on käyttää kortissa keltaista ja tässähän sitä on. Leimakuvana on syötävän suloinen Cappie DoodleFactoryn Creatures II -setistä.

What does a mother of a little baby do at 6 a.m. on a Sunday morning? Starts making cards of course!! I felt the urge to make cards this morning so instead of going back to sleep after feeding the Tiny One, I made e.g. this card. (Yes, I must be going slightly mad... ;D ). Portaita - Steps

Veljenpoikani täyttää piakkoin 9 vuotta ja halusin tehdä hänelle hieman erilaisen kortin kuin yleensä. Näitä side step -kortteja (porraskortti? sivuporraskortti?) olen ihaillut muiden blogeissa ja nyt päätin kokeilla sellaisen tekoa itse. Ohjeen löysin täältä (ohjeessa mitat on senteissä, joten säästyin tuuma-sentti-rumbalta) ja jälleen kerran kortti mielestäni näyttää monimutkaisemmalta kuin se itse asiassa onkaan (tai sitten kaikenlaiset taittelukortit vain häikäisevät minut niin helposti ;) ).

My nephew has his 9th birthday soon and I wanted to make him a special card. I've admired these side step cards in others' blogs and now I thought would be a great time to try one myself. I found the tutorial for the card here and once again the final card seems so much more complicated than it actually is to make (either that or all kinds of folded cards just amaze me so easily ;) ).
