On one leg

Jatketaas taas art journalilla, tällä kerralla hieman simppelimpää linjaa. Hieman lehdistä saksittuja kuvia ja viisauksia, washiteippiä, kreppipaperia, spray inkiä ja leimaa ja onnekkaasti viereisen sivun teosta mukaan tulleet mustat roiskeet.

Another art journal page, this time somewhat simpler one. There's just some magazine clippings (the text says 'if you think about the next step too much, you'll spend all your life standing on one leg"), some washi tape, some crepe paper, some spray ink and stamping and some black splatters of ink that came about when I was making the page next to this one - a lucky mistake!

Step away

Tätä art journal -sivua lähdin vain tekemään sen kummemmin miettimättä, mitä teen (juu-u, joskus ihan oikeasti mietin etukäteen, mitä teen... ;D ). Lisäilin vain väriä sivulle - yllättäen tuota lempparikomboa, keltaista ja pinkkiä - maalia ja spray inkiä, neocolor II:a ja musteita. Suoraan sivulle, sabluunan läpi, roiskien ja leimaten. Lisäilin vähän washiteippiä ja leimakuvaa (Zettiology), valkoista kynää, mustaa kynää ja Prismacoloreita. Lopuksi vähän tekstiä aakkosleimoilla. Ehkä tämä sivu voi toimia muistutuksena itselle, että sieltä mukavuusalueelta tosiaan voisi joskus hilata itsensä pois, sen ulkopuolella saattaa olla hauskempaa ;)

This art journal page just happened, I didn't really think what I was doing (yes, I know it's surprising but sometimes I actually do think beforehand what I'll do... ;D ). I just started adding colour to the page, pink and yellow of course, no surprises there as it's my favourite combination at the moment. I added paint, I added spray inks, I added Neocolor II, I added inks. Straight to the page, through a stencil, as splatters, with rubber stamps. I added some washi tape and a stamped image (Zettiology), some white pen, some black pen and some Prismacolor pencils. Then some journaling with alphabet stamps. Maybe this page serves as a note to myself to sometimes drag myself out of my comfort zone, things might just be a bit more fun that way ;)

When your heart is on fire

Viime aikoina on tullut tehtyä enemmän art journal -sivuja (-sotkuja..?! ;D ) kuin kortteja, jotenkin on ollut hauskempaa nyt vain tehdä huolettomammin kuin miettiä turhan tarkkaan (kortteja siis yleensä mietin tarkempaan ja mittaan papereita millilleen, nämä sivut on jotain ihan muuta... ;D). Ihan kaikkia sivuja en ole vielä ehtinyt näyttää mutta tässä tulee taas yksi. Tämä alkoi keltaisesta maalista ja pinkistä spray inkistä, jotka olin sivuun pyyhkinyt joitain muita sivuja tehdessäni. Siihen sitten lisäilin hieman mustetta sabluunan läpi, washiteippejä, leimailua (Dina Wakleyn sydän, Suzi Blun tyttö, Wycinankan sydänrivi ja Dylusionsin boordi, Papertrey Inkin aakkoset), paljettia jne. Tuon typsyn leimasin vanhaan kirjan sivuun, teksti tuo hauskasti 'kerrosta' tyttöön. Tuo journaling-osa tuli vähän "pakosta" tuohon, näin nimittäin pöydälläni vanhan lappusen, johon olin sen kirjoittanut jostain muistiin. Heti perään näin saman tekstin mainoksessa eräässä lehdessä ja ajattelin, että on kai sitten parempi laittaa se tähän sivuunkin, kun se nyt joka puolelta esiin hyppii :) (Teksti näkynee hieman huonosti tuosta kuvasta, siinä siis lukee "You light up the world when your heart is on fire").

Recently, I've been art journaling more than making cards, for some reason at the moment I enjoy the freedom of making a page much more than the exactness of making a card (usually I think much more when I make a card and I cut papers etc very carefully - all that goes out of the window when I'm making an art journal page :D ). I haven't had a chance to blog all my pages yet but here's one I made yesterday. This page started with the yellow paint and the pink spray ink that were on the page, I had mopped them up on this page while making another. Then I just added some ink through a stencil, some washi tapes, some rubber stamping (a Dina Wakley heart, a Suzi Blu girl, a row of hearts by Wycinanka, a Dylusions border, Papertrey Ink alphabet), a sequin, etc. I stamped the girl on an old book page and let the words show through the colouring, I think it adds a nice layer to her. The journaling part was a funny coincidence: I had an old piece of paper on my desk with that quote on it, and right after seeing it I looked through a magazine and noticed an ad with the same quote on it! So I thought it might be best if I just used it as my journaling :) (In case you can't see it clearly, it says 'You light up the world when your heart is on fire').

Words

The Artistic Stamperin toukokuun haaste on 'words' ja tein siihen tämän art journal -sivun. Tähän meni taas vähän kaikkea, struktuuripastaa, akryylimaaleja, gessoa, spray inkejä, washiteippejä, leimoja (The Artistic Stamper, Zettiology), paljetteja jne. Tuo teksti on lainaus Englantilaisesta potilaasta.

The May challenge over at the Artistic Stamper blog is 'words' and I made this art journal page for it. Once again, I used a bit of everything to make this page: modeling paste, acrylic paints, gesso, spray inks, washi tapes, rubber stamps (The Artistic Stamper, Zettiology), sequins, etc. The journaling is a quote from Michael Ondaatje's 'The English Patient'.

Taas aukeama art journalistani. Ja taas kerran siihen tuli kerroksia kaikesta mahdollisesta, maalista Distress Stainiin, washiteipistä sabluunaan ja lyijykynään. Kaiken kruunaa lehdestä leikattu lause 'All Is Well'. Näin kai se on :)

Here's another spread from my art journal and once again there's a bit of everything there, acrylic paints, Distress Stains, washi tape, stencil, pencil and so on. And to top it off, a sentence from a mag, 'All Is Well'. I guess that's true, all is well :)

She started to live in colour

En ole aikaisemmin koskaan osallistunut Simon Says Stamp and Show -haasteeseen mutta nyt satuin huomaamaan tämänviikkoisen haasteen, joka oli 'colour' ja sen verran värit kutkuttivat, että päätin osallistua. Tein haasteeseen tämän art journal -sivun, johon meni taas vähän kaikkea: gessoa, akryylimaaleja, spray inkejä, vanhan kirjan sivuja, washiteippiä, leimoja (Zettiology, The Artistic Stamper, Prima Marketing), Inktense-kyniä jne. Varsinainen sekasoppa siis mutta ainakin väriä löytyy! :)

This is my first time taking part in Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge. I happened to spot this week's challenge theme and was inspired by it so I made this art journal page. Once again, there's a bit of everything on this page: some gesso, acrylic paints, spray inks, some modeling paste, pages from an old book, some washi tapes, rubber stamps (by Zettiology, The Artistic Stamper, Prima Marketing), some Derwent Inktense pencil etc. You name it, it's there, basically, but at least the page has colours! ;)

Do not beige

Taas art journalia ja taas keltaista - kun sitä jumittuu johonkin, niin sitä sitten jumittuu! :D Tähän meni akryylimaaleja, musteita, leimoja, washiteippiä ja outoa kieltä (olen hyvinkin varma, että sanaa beige voi  käyttää myös verbinä...), joka kylläkin minulle sanoo paljon.

Another art journal page and yet again some yellow - I think I'm well and truly stuck! :D This page ate some acrylic paints, some inks, stamps, some washi tape and odd wording (I'm pretty confident you can use the word 'beige' as a verb... ha ha!). Odd wording or not, it speaks to me. It really does.

Kun nyt kerran päästiin vauhtiin, niin laitetaanpa lisää art journal -sivuja näytille. Tässäkin sivussa on "yllättäen" keltaista, tuntuu etten saa tarpeeksi keltaista vaikka uisin siinä, niin kovasti pelittää se väri nyt :) Olen jotenkin tykästynyt myös ihan tavalliseen lyijykynään, sen jälki näyttää kauniilta. Mutta siis kaikkinensa tässä on maaleja, suihkeita, sabluunoita, washiteippiä, lehdestä saksittua kuvaa ja sitä lyijykynää jne. Ja huonosti leimattu päivämäärä mutta antaa olla :)

Another art journal page to show you (I'm on a roll here! ;) ). I've used yellow on this page, too, for some reason I'm really loving yellow now, can't get enough of it. And another thing I'm liking at the moment is a basic pencil, love the look it gives. But all in all, this page has some acrylic paint, some spray inks, stencils, some washi tape, a magazine cut out, etc. And a badly stamped date but it can be, I won't try to make it look better.

Hidden

Taas vaihteeksi art journalia. Ja taas vaihteeksi SODAliciouksen haaste :) Tällä kertaa aiheena on 'hidden' ja alla näkemykseni siitä. Tein sivun vaakatasoon A5-kokoiseen journaliin ja käytin siihen aika lailla kaikkea: gessoa, harsokangasta, Distress Inkiä, akryylimaaleja, sabluunoita (Crafter's Workshop), washiteippiä, erinäisiä leimoja (mm. Zettiology, Wycinanka, The Artistic Stamper), Dylusions ink sprayta jne. Eli väkerretty on :)

Here's another art journal page, for another SODAlicious challenge :) The theme is 'hidden' and this is my take on it. The journal I used is A5 in size and the page is landscape in orientation. There's a bit of everything on this page: gesso, cheese cloth, Distress Ink, acrylic paints, stencils (The Crafter's Workshop), washi tape, rubber stamps (Zettiology, Wycinanka, The Artistic Stamper among others), Dylusions ink spray, etc. Hope you like it! :)

Destiny

SODAliciouksen art journal -haasteen #23 aiheena on 'destiny', alla minun tulkintani siitä. Tämän aukeaman tekeminen vaati verta, hikeä ja kyyneleitä - tai no, ei ehkä hikeä eikä kyyneleitä mutta verta sitäkin enemmän! Ensin tuikkasin itseäni saksilla sormeen ja sitten viilsin toiseen sormeen muovisella sabluunalla. Ihme, että sivulle ei verta päätynyt... Sivulle päätyi kuitenkin Dylusions-suihkeita, akryylimaalia, sabluunoita (sekä SODAliciouksen että Crafter's Workshopin), washiteippiä, Neocoloreita ja leimakuvia (Suzi Blu/Unity, Prima Marketing, Paperbag Studios). Mikäli käsialastani ei saa selvää ;) niin journaling sanoo 'I'm taking my ride with destiny, willing to play my part'. Kyseessä ei tosin ole minun aivoitukseni vaan sanoitusta eräästä biisistä.

The theme of SODAlicious' art journal challenge #23 is 'destiny' and this is my interpretation of it. The making of this spread took blood, sweat and tears - well, maybe not sweat or tears but blood, and lots of it! First I stabbed myself in the finger with my scissors and then I cut another finger with a plastic stencil. Ouch! It's a surprise there's no blood on the page itself... However, on the page there are some spray inks by Dylusions, some acrylic paint, stencils (both SODAlicious and The Crafter's Workshop), washi tape, Neocolor crayons and stamped images (Suzi Blu/Unity, Prima Marketing, Paperbag Studios). If you can't read my handwriting ;) the journaling says 'I'm taking my ride with destiny, willing to play my part' and no, they're not my wise words, they're lyrics from a song.

Omakuva - Self-portrait

Idea tähän art journal -sivuun tuli eräänä aamuyönä puoli neljän aikaan, kun keinuin keinutuolissa perheen pienimmän kanssa. Hän tuskaili vatsavaivojaan ja minä väsymystäni. Pitääkseni itseäni hereillä rupesin askartelemaan tätä sivua mielessäni ja sitten myöhemmin, kun pääsin ihan oikeasti askartelupöytäni ääreen, kokosin sivun mielikuva-askartelun pohjalta (tuplailo askartelusta: ensin mielessä ja sitten ihan oikeasti... ;D ). Niin, ja vetäkää liput salkoihin: otin ja piirsin ja vielä käytinkin piirtämäni kuvan! Kysyin muuten mieheltä, näyttääkö tuo minulta ja vastaus oli "ei, tolta puuttuu lasit". Eli muuten ilmeisesti kyllä.... Kuvittele siis tuohon lasit ja jos näet sen näköisen tyypin haahuilevan vastaan, ei muuta kuin käsi pystyyn, se olen minä! :D

The idea for this journal page came to me one morning at around 3.30 am as I was rocking in our rocking chair with the baby. He was awake with tummy ache after feeding and I was trying to stay awake, feeling dead tired. So to keep myself awake, I started to craft in my mind and 'made' this page and then later when I actually got to sit down at my craft table, I just assembled this page (it's the double joy of crafting: first crafting in my mind and then actually physically crafting ;D ). Oh, and three cheers for me: I drew a picture and even used it for this page! I asked hubby if it looked like me and he said "no, you have glasses". So apart from that, I guess that looks like me...

I Never Dare

Yleisön pyynnöstä ;) lisää journal-sivuja (tosin sitä mukaa, kun näitä laitan, vähenee lukijat tuosta oikean puolen laatikosta... Hmm...). Tuossa syksyn puolella sain postissa paksun kirjekuoren Englannista ja mietin jo kuumeisesti, mitä ihmettä olin tilannut ja unohtanut tilanneeni. No, homma selvisi, kun avasin kuoren: se oli arvontavoitto Craft Stamper -lehdestä, 8 settiä uusia Lynne Perrella -leimasimia! :) En ole ehtinyt niitä käyttää tätä ennen, mutta nyt tässä nuo tytsyt on yksi niistä uusista leimasimista. Muuten tässä sivussa on taas vähän sitä sun tätä: kuviopaperisuikaleita, paloja lehden ja kirjan sivuista, gessoa, washiteippiä, sabluunaa ja Distress Inkiä, Distress Stainia, leimasimia jne. Ja lopputulos on taas tällainen :)

Another page from my art journal. It seems that when I post these pages here, I lose a follower or two but I think I'll post them anyway... ;) Last autumn I received a big fat envelope from the UK in the post. Naturally, I thought what on earth had I ordered now and from where and how come I had forgotten about it. Well, when I opened the envelope it turned out that it was a giveaway prize from the Craft Stamper magazine: 8 sets of new Lynne Perrella rubber stamps! Wohoo! I haven't had the chance to use them until now, here the row of the ladies is one of the new stamps. Otherwise this page has a bit of this and a bit of that again: scraps of patterned paper, pieces of magazine and book pages, some gesso, some washi tape, a stencil used with some Distress Ink, some Distress Stain, rubber stamps, etc. And the outcome is as follows :)

Silly Nelly

Vaihteeksi hieman art journalia... Tähän sivuun on mennyt kaikenlaista: revitty pala kirjansivua, gessoa, akryylimaaleja, modeling pastea sabluunan läpi, washiteippiä, maalarinteippiä, leimakuva (Zettiologyn ihana kissa), Prismacolor-kynää jne, jne, ja kokonaisuus on... no, tällainen :)

For this page I used a bit of everything: a torn page of a book, some gesso, some acrylic paint, some modeling paste applied thru a stencil, some washi tape, some ordinary masking tape, a stamped image (the lovely cat face by Zettiology), some Prismacolor pencils etc., etc., and the end result is... well, see for yourself :)

Pitkästä aikaa - Long time

...art journal -sivu! Enpä ole sitten kesäisen mojon menettämisen jälkeen tehnyt sivuja art journaliin (paitsi tietenkin tämän sivun), alkuun ei huvittanut ja sittemmin tuli kaikenlaisia korttikiireitä. Mutta nyt joulukorttiähkyn vastapainoksi tein sivun ja kivaa oli :) Käytin tähän erinäisiä akryylimaaleja, musteita, spray inkejä, Prismacoloreita, Goldenin Glass Bead Geliä, leimasimia, sabloonaa, washi-teippiä (Teippitarhasta) jne. Ja jos joku ihmettelee, että missä kuplassa kellun, niin raskaushormonihuuruissahan minä... :)

...no art journaling! (Well, except for this page) But that changed over the weekend as I made a page in my brand new journal (a gorgeous Derwent journal with thick pages and just the right size - love!). I got fed up with making Christmas cards so this gave me a welcome break :) For this page, I used various acrylic paints, inks, spray inks, Prismacolor pens, Glass Bead Gel by Golden, rubber stamps, a stencil, some washi tape (from Teippitarha), etc. Oh, and just in case you're wondering why I'm floating around in a bubble, let me just say 'pregnancy hormones'... ;)

Jotain ihan muuta - Mail Art

Ihana Kissinia järjesti tuossa kesällä hauskan leikin, Mail Art Exchange Gamen. Tarkoitus oli koristella kirjekuori tavalla tai toisella ja lähettää se ja saada vastalahjaksi koristeltu kuori - mail art:ia siis. Tällaisen kuoren lähetin itse Kissinialle. Maskasin siihen tuon paneelin post-it-lapuilla ja värjäsin Distress Inkeillä ja sitten leimasin kukkasia Hero Artsin leimoilla A Real Long-Stemmed Wildflower ja A Real Wild Poppy.

The lovely Kissinia hosted a fun game during the summer, a Mail Art Exchange Game. The meaning was to decorate an envelope and send it and then get a decorated envelope in the post in return - that's mail art in short. This is the envelope I sent to Kissinia. I masked the panel with post-it notes and added some Distress Inks to it and then stamped the flowers with the Hero Arts stamps A Real Long-Stemmed Wildflower ja A Real Wild Poppy.

Kuoren mukana lähetin tällaisen kortin. Kohokuvioin tuon pinkin kartongin Cuttlebugin kohokuviointitaskulla, leikkasin irti sydämen ja asetin kortin sisään palasen vanhaa kirjan sivua, johon olin ensin leimannut Hero Artsin shadow stampilla neliön ja siihen päälle FinnStamperin leimalla talon. Kanteen lisäsin tuon new home -bannerin ja pienen linnun.

This is the card I sent with the envelope. I dry embossed the pink cardstock with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, cut out the heart and attached a piece of old book page on the inside of the card, stamped it with a Hero Arts shadow stamp and on top of that, I stamped a house with a FinnStamper stamp. Then I just added the tiny birdie and the banner on the card.

Ihana Kim Dellow pyysi minua vaihtamaan 'mail artia' kanssaan ja tällaisen kuoren lähetin hänelle. Tein tuon auringon stanssatun ympyrän negatiivilla ja Distress Inkeillä ja leimasin heinät (joita edelleen pidän enemmänkin rukiina kuin heinänä.... ;) ) Hero Artsin leimalla Silhouette Grass.

The lovely Kim Dellow also asked me to exchange some mail art with her and this is the envelope I sent to her. I created the sun with the negative of a circle die cut and some Distress Inks and then stamped the grass (which to me looks like rye.... ;) ) with the Hero Arts' stamp Silhouette Grass and some brown Archival Ink.

Kuoressa lähetin tällaisen pienen tagin. Taustaksi sudin hieman gessoa, sitten leimasin kukat Archival Inkeillä ja tekstin Papertrey Inkin aakkosleimoilla. Lisäksi laitoin tagiin hieman washi-teippiä, juuttinarua ja muutaman timantin.

This is the tag I sent with the envelope to Kim. I brushed some gesso on a kraft tag, stamped the flowers with Archival Inks and the text with Papertrey Ink's alphabet stamps. As embellies there's some washi tape, some jute twine and a few rhinestones.

Täytyy myöntää, että hieman jännitti lähettää mitään näille naisille, sen verran taitavia ovat molemmat. Pientä rimakauhua siis oli koettavissa... Toivottavasti molemmat kuitenkin pitivät kuoristaan :) Mutta sellaista tällä kertaa. Kiitos, kun kävit katsomassa ja kiitos, jos kommentoit. Mukavaa tiistaita! :)

I have to admit I was more than nervous sending anything to these two ladies, they're both talented beyond any measure and I wasn't feeling talented at all... But I do hope they both liked their envelopes :) Thanks for your visit and for any comment you may wish to leave. Enjoy your day! :)

Ajattelematta - Without thinking

Tämä kortti tuli tehtyä "kaikkea kivaa" -periaatteella. Laitoin siis korttiin sen kummemmin miettimättä kaikkea omasta mielestäni kivaa ja mitä nyt satuin pöydältä löytämään. Mielenkiintoisesti yhtäkään leimakuvaa tässä ei ole... ;) Sen sijaan tässä on hieman Dylusions ink sprayta, paperia ja aaltopahvia, washiteippiä, stanssattu huopasydän, gessoa, nappi ja narunpätkiä. Sen kummempaa ideaa tässä ei ole takana mutta joskus on kiva tehdä kortteja näinkin :)

I made this card simply by using all kinds of stuff that I like and that I found on my craft table without thinking too much. Didn't use any stamped images though (*shockhorror* ;) ), funny that... Instead you can find some Dylusions ink spray, some patterned paper and some corrugated cardboard, some washi tape, a die cut felt heart, some gesso, a button and some pieces of ribbon and twine on my card. I find it so much fun to make cards like this every once in a while, things made without too much thinking. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't but always I have fun :)

Koulun alkuun - School's back!

Ihan ensimmäiseksi iso kiitos kaikille teille, jotka kommentoitte edelliseen postaukseeni ja onnittelitte. Ihania olette! :)

Yksi veljenpojistani aloitti koulun tänä syksynä ja tapamme mukaan annoimme hänelle pienen koulunaloittajaislahjan (eihän kyniä ja kumeja voi koskaan olla liikaa? ;) ). Lahjan kylkeen tein pienen, simppelin tagin. Pohjan suihkin parilla eriDylusions ink sprayllä ja laitoin hieman soft gel mediumia (onko sille suomenkielistä nimeä..??) sapluunan avulla. Leimat ovat kaikki DoodleFactorya, paitsi tuo koulu-teksti, jonka leimailin Papertrey Inkin aakkosilla. Lisänä hieman washi-teippiä, pikkuniittejä ja narua. Niin, ja tähtitarra Snarglen rintamuksessa - kyllähän nyt jokainen pieni koululainen tähden rintaansa ansaitsee :)

One of my nephews started school this autumn and as usual, we gave him a little present to mark the occasion (one can never have too many cool pencils or erasers, right? ;) ) and I made this simple little tag to go with it. I used some Dylusions ink sprays and some soft gel medium to make the background and then stamped and coloured some DoodleFactory images to be the focal points. The text on the sign says 'school' and is stamped with Papertrey Ink alphabets. As embellies there's some washi tape, mini staples and some twine. And that's pretty much it - simples, right? ;)
