Muffinsseja - Cupcakes

Tämänpäiväinen kortti on tällainen perusonnittelukortti. Muffinsit ovat Greeting Farmin Susie Surprise -setistä, niissä on päällä hieman fun flockia/glitter velvetiä (alimman ja ylimmän muffinsin pitäisi kimaltaa hieman ;) ) ja alimman muffinssin kirsikassa on hieman glossy accentsia. Paperit ovat BasicGreyn Romani-sarjaa. Kortin sisäpuolella on tekstinä "paljon onnea". Tämä oli ensimmäinen kerta pitkään aikaan, kun teen ns. tavallisen C6-kokoisen kortin, sillä olen nyt pitkän pitkän aikaa tehnyt noita 13,5x13,5 cm:n neliökortteja. Tämä oli ihan mukavan kokoinen ja muotoinen vaihteeksi, pitääkin koittaa tehdä enemmän näitä.

Today's card is a simple birthday card. The cupcakes are from The Greeting Farm's Susie Surprise set and I decorated them with some fun flock/glitter velvet (the top and the bottom cupcake should be glittering a little ;) ). The cherry on top of the bottom cupcake has some glossy accents on it. The papers are Romani by BasicGrey. Inside the card there's a text saying "congrats". I haven't made a card using this shape and size (ca. 10,5x14,5 centimetres) for a long time and it felt really nice for a change. I usually do square cards the size 13,5x13,5 centimetres but I guess I'll have to try to make more of these as well.

Värejä! - Colours! (Color Inspiration #56 & Stamp Something)

En ole koskaan aikaisemmin osallistunut värihaasteeseen, joten pitihän sitäkin koittaa! Kristina Werner pitää blogissaan Color Inspiration -haasteita, jossa tällä kertaa väreinä onJotta homma ei kävisi liian helpoksi, yhdistin tähän korttiin vielä toisenkin haasteen, nimittäin Stamp Somethingin uusimman luonnoksen, jota tosin käänsin hieman.

I have never before taken part in a colour challenge, so of course I had to try it! Kristina Werner hosts Color Inspiration challenges in her blog and this time the colours you have to use are the ones above. To make things a bit more challenging I combined another challenge with it, namely Stamp Something's newest sketch which I kind of turned around a bit.

Leimakuvana kortissa on Dahlia, The Greeting Farmin hurmaava neitokainen. Paperit ovat jälleen kerran BasicGreytä (Ambrosia), kukka, dew dropsit, nauha ja napit ovat kaikki varastojeni kätköistä.

The rubber stamp I used is Dahlia, The Greeting Farm's lovely young lady. The papers are once again by BasicGrey, Ambrosia this time, and the flower, the dew drops, the ribbon and the buttons are from my stash.

Koin tänään melkomoisen yllätyksen, sain nimittäin Paulalta ihanan tunnustuksen! :)
Olen hirvittävän otettu tästä, kiitos Paula!! Minun pitäisi nyt valita, kelle annan tämän... Mietin pitkään, annanko tätä ylipäätään eteenpäin, koska valinta on niin vaikea (kaikki seuraamani blogit ansaitsisivat tämän!) enkä oikein edes tiedä, onko tässä rajoituksia, kuinka monelle tämän voi antaa. Päätin kuitenkin, että annan tunnustuksen viidelle mahtavalle blogille. Ensinnäkin annan tämän takaisin Paulalle, joka tekee huimia kortteja, todella kauniita ja persoonallisia taideteoksia. Annan tämän myös Miialle, jonka blogi on ideoita ja innoitusta täynnä. Myös Xing ansaitsee tämän, Xingin blogista olen saanut monta ahaa-elämystä ja uutta ideaa askartelun saralla (tuntuu vain, etten ehdi kokeilla kaikkea, mitä haluaisin, sillä uusia ideoita ja vinkkejä tulee niin paljon :) ). Laura on meidän ihana Suomi-vahvistus Australiassa, Laura ansaitsee tunnustuksen niin upeilla korteillaan ja leiskoillaan kuin mukavalla persoonallaan, jotka kaikki näkyvät hänen blogissaan. Viides, jolle tämän haluan antaa, on Leanne, ihana ihminen, jonka taide on yksinkertaisesti uskomattoman kaunista, Leannen blogi on elämys!

I got quite a surprise today - Paula had given me this lovely award! :) I am really grateful for this award, thank you Paula!! Now I should choose to whom I want to give the award. I thought long and hard about whether to give it to anyone at all because it's so hard to choose (all the blogs I follow deserve this!) and I'm not even sure if there are restrictions as to how many people I can give this to. However, I decided to give this award to five amazing blogs. First of all, I want to give it back to Paula who makes amazing cards, beautiful works of art! Next I'll give it to Miia whose blog is full of inspiration and great ideas. Xing deserves this award as well, I've gotten so many new ideas from her (I just feel that I don't have the time to try out every new idea even if I want to because she keeps coming up with them all the time! :) ). Laura is our lovely Finnish lady in Australia and she deserves this award not only because she makes gorgeous cards and layouts but also because she is such a lovely lovely person, all this comes out in her blog. And the 5th person I want to give this to is Leanne, lovely lady whose art is simply unbelievably beautiful - her blog is an experience!

Tri Shutter Card

Aloitin eilen tekemään tätä korttia ja sain sen valmiiksi tänään. Kyseessä on tri shutter card, jolle en tiedä suomenkielistä nimeä, mutta ohjeen sille löysin täältä. Aluksi ohje vaikutti hieman hankalalta, mutta loppuviimein se olikin melko helppo tehdä ja siitä sai varsin hauskannäköisen ja hieman ehkä erikoisemmankin kortin. Kuitenkin se on tavallisen kortin kokoinen ja menee siis C6-kuoreen.

I started making this card yesterday and finished it today. This one is called tri shutter card and I found a tutorial for it here. It appeared to be slightly difficult to make at first but eventually it turned out to be pretty easy and the finished card looks quite fun and not your run-of-the-mill card.

Tuo Inkadinkadon lintuleimasin on yksi suosikkilintuleimasimistani, leimasin sen Versafinen harmaalla musteella ja embossasin kirkkaalla jauheella. Paperiin linnun taustalla leimasin Hero Artsin kukkakuvioisella taustaleimasimella ja embossasin sen valkoisella jauheella. Perhoset on leikattu Martha Stewartin leikkurilla ja koristeltu Kaisercraftin timangeilla, myös helmet ovat Kaisercraftin. Korupiikin tein itse. Paperit ovat taas BasicGreytä, Porcelainia tällä kertaa. Pitsi on alkujaan mummon varastojen kätköistä.

The bird stamp is by Inkadinkado, it's one of my favourite bird stamps ever. I stamped it with Versafine's Smokey Grey ink and embossed with clear powder. I stamped the paper behind the bird with Hero Arts' floral background stamp and embossed it with white embossing powder. The butterflies are made with a Martha Stewart punch and embellished with Kaisercraft rhinestones. The pearls are also by Kaisercraft and the pin I made myself. The papers are once again by BasicGrey (Porcelain). The lace is from my granny.

Tämä kortti oli vaikea kuvata, joten otin sitten useamman kuvan (jollain logiikalla tässä on järkeä... ;) ). Tässä kortti on täysin auki ja "makuullaan".
It was quite diffucult to take pictures of this card, so I ended up taking several (yes, there is a logic to it... ;) ). Here the card is fully open and lying down on its back.


Tässä kortin "kansi" näkyy parhaiten. Tuo pitsi on oikeasti kermanvärinen sekä etukannessa että tuolla kortin viimeisessä osassa, se taisi vain napata vaaleanpunaista tuosta taustapaperista tähän kuvaan.
Here's a view of the front panel of the card. The lace is actually cream coloured both on the front and the last panel, I guess the background paper just gave it the pinkish colour it has on the front panel in this piccie.

Here's the middle part of the card. The text says "For you on your birthday" and on the righthand's side panel it says "Congrats".

Kävimme muuten eilen katsomassa uuden Ice Age 3 -leffan miehen ja kahden veljenpoikani kanssa. Leffa oli todella hauska, siinä oli naurun aihetta sekä aikuisille että lapsille (ja luulenpa, että aikuisten hauska siinä meni lapsilta ohi...). Hauskin sekä lasten että meidän aikuisten mielestä oli Jyrsiksen tangon tanssiminen, siinä oli tunteen paloa! :) Kannattaa käydä katsomassa tuo leffa, sen verran hauska se oli! :)

Hubby and I took two of my nephews out to see the new Ice Age 3 yesterday. It was actually really funny film, both children and adults laughed a lot. We all loved Scrat's tango dancing the best, oh the emotion that went into it! :) Go see it if you have the opportunity, it is worth it! :)

Jehkotar CardChallenge #65

Tässä taas kortti Jehkotar CardChallengeen. Luonnoksen on tällä kertaa tehnyt Elinarsku - kiitos loistavasta luonnoksesta, taas löytyi haastetta!

This is my card for the Jehkotar CardChallenge. Elinarsku is the lady behind the sketch this time - thanks for the super sketch!

Sovelsin Elinarskun luonnosta hieman, sillä en saanut kaikkea mahtumaan neliökorttipohjaan eikä minulla ollut tähän haasteeseen paremmin sopivaa pitkulaista korttipohjaa. Leimasin on taas ihanaista Sugar Nellietä, Leanne Ellisin Dreamer. Paperi on BasicGreyn LilyKatea (paperissa oleva kukkaoksa osui sopivasti luonnoksen kiekuran kohtaan!), nauha We R Memory Keepersiä, kukka ja dew dropsit on varastojen kätköistä. Kovin vaaleaa tällä kertaa, mutta käyhän se vaihtelusta.

I couldn't follow Elinarsku's sketch completely because I couldn't fit every element in my card - a square card blank isn't the best choice for this sketch but it was the only one I could use at that moment. The rubber stamp is once again by the ever so lovely Sugar Nellie, Dreamer by Leanne Ellis. The paper is LilyKate by BasicGrey (the flowery branch in the paper fitted the sketch perfectly!), the ribbon is by We R Memory Keepers and the flower and the dew drops are from my stash. The card became very light and airy this time but I think it's ok for a change.

Ja kuten kuvasta huomaa, opin hiukan leikkimään kuvankäsittelyohjelmalla! Sain jopa lisättyä nimeni alareunaan - sen jälkeen olenkin ollut rinta rottingilla...! ;)

And as you can see in the piccie, I have learnt to play with the photo editing programme! I even managed to add my name to the piccie - what a proud moment it was...! ;)

Terveisiä nääs! - Greetings!

Olimme siis parin päivän reissulla Tampereella ja kotiuduimme eilen. Matkalla tutustuimme mm. Istuvaan Härkään ja minä perehdyin kenkiin samalla, kun mies tutustui suomalaisen jääkiekon historiaan ja täytyy sanoa, että oli mielenkiintoista! Varsinkin tuo Istuva Härkä -näyttely oli todella hyvä, tykkäsin kovasti. On jotenkin jännä tunne katsoa esinettä, jonka joku on joskus kauan sitten tehnyt omaan käyttöönsä omassa maailmassaan ja todellisuudessaan ja nyt minä seison omassa ajassani, omassa maailmassani ja todellisuudessani ja katson juuri sitä samaa esinettä. Siinä tuntuu syntyvän jokin outo yhteys johonkin, mihin itsellä ei sinänsä ole mitään yhteyttä - juuri tästä syystä pidän museoista!

Hubby and I came home yesterday from a couple of days' trip to Tampere where we, among other things, learnt about Sitting Bull and I looked at some shoes while hubby got excited about Finnish icehockey. I really enjoyed the exhibition about Sitting Bull, it was so interesting. It's a funny feeling to know that someone in another world and another reality made something for themselves ages ago and now I, in my world and my reality and time, look at the very same thing. You feel this strange connection to something and someone that you actually are not connected to at all, and that feeling is the reason I enjoy museums.

Mutta mitä tekee ihminen tultuaan kotiin matkalta? No askartelee tietysti! ;) Pitihän sitä nyt, varsinkin, kun kotona odotti muutama uusi Greeting Farm -leimasin :) Tässä kortissa käytin Susie Surprise -setin tyttöstä, jonka ilme on niin iloinen että. Taustapaperi on October Afternoonin Ducks in a row'ta ja keltainen kartonki Bazzill Basicsin Dotted-sarjaa. Lisäksi hieman kukkaa, perhosta ja pom pom -nauhaa.

What does one do after coming home from a trip? Well, makes a card of course! ;) I had to make one especially as I had a couple of new stamps from the Greeting Farm waiting for me when I came home :) I used the girl from Susie Surprise set - doesn't she look ever so happy?! The paper is from the Ducks in a row set by October Afternoon and the cardstock is Bazzill Basics' Dotted yellow. I also added a flower, a couple of butterflies and some pom pom ribbon.


Kortin sisäpuolella on teksti ja Susie Surprise -setin muffinssi. Kirsikkaan laitoin hieman Glossy Accentsia.
Inside there is a text saying Congrats on your birthday and a muffin (or a cupcake? I'm not sure what the difference between the two is...) from the same Susie Surprise set. I added some Glossy Accents to the cherry on top of the muffin.


Taidanpa taas mennä värkkäämään korttia, olihan tässä muutaman päivän pakollinen tauko kortteilussa ja nyt siis pitää paikkailla vieroitusoireita ;) Mukavaa lauantai-iltaa ja kiitos, kun poikkesit blogissani!

Assistenttini - My assistants

Tänään minulla ei ole näyttää korttia, mutta ajattelin esitellä assistenttini, nuo ihanuudet, jotka viikset väpisten ovat paikalla siellä, missä tapahtuu. Papereilla on assistentteihini erityinen vetovoima, sillä siellä, missä on paperia levällään, on myös vähintään yksi assistentti lappeellaan mahdollisimman tarkasti koko paperin peittäen. Muovipusseilla ja -kääreillä on erityinen sija assistenttieni sydämissä, mutta niiden puuttuessa myös nauhat, napit ja kynät kohtaavat ylenpalttista hellyyttä heidän taholtaan. Mikäli assistenteillani on muita kiireitä eivätkä he ehdi henkilökohtaisesti paikalle, jättävät he ystävällisesti jälkeensä erinäisen määrän karvoja, joita minä sitten saan nyhtää irti kaksipuoleisesta teipistä, tarrapaloista ja leimasimista - mitäpä muuta sitä ihminen askarrellessaan haluaisikaan tehdä...?

I don't have a card to show you today, but instead let me introduce you to my assistants, those lovely little creatures who are always there where something happens. Papers have a special appeal to them - if there is paper on the table, you are sure to find one or both of my assistants lying there covering the whole paper. Plastic bags and wrappers have a special place in their hearts, but ribbons, buttons and pens of all kinds are also dear to my assistants. If my lovely assistants are busy and cannot be there for me personally, are they kind enough to leave hair behind, enough hair to stick to double-sided tape, 3D foam squares and rubber stamps - pulling the hairs out of anything sticky is surely what you really want to do when you pretend to be busy crafting..?

Tässä kuvallinen todiste avuliaiden assistenttieni panostuksesta korttien kuvaamiseen (kortti on siis valkoisen paperin päällä ja toisen assarin alla...). Saanko siis esitellä: Topi (vasemmalla) ja Tulppa, meidän ihanat pyhät birmat!

Here is a proof of the helpfulness of my lovely assistants when I'm trying to photograph a card (which is, in case you didn't notice, on top of the white paper but under the other assistant...). So let me introduce you to: Topi (on the left) and Tulppa, our wonderful Birman cats!

StampARTic: heinäkuun haaste - July challenge

Kun tässä nyt on haasteisiin ruvettu osallistumaan, niin osallistutaan sitten urakalla! :) Tällä kertaa tein kortin StampARTicin heinäkuun haasteeseen, johon kivan luonnoksen on tehnyt Marianne. Lisähaasteena oli sinisen ja ruskean käyttö kortissa. Kiitos Mariannelle mahtavasta luonnoksesta!

Challenges, challenges, challenges - I'm really getting into the swing of things with them! :) This time I'm taking part in StampARTic's July challenge. The lovely sketch is by Marianne and as additional challenge comes the use of brown and blue. Thank you, Marianne, for this wonderful sketch, I had fun with it!

Poikkesin kortissani hieman luonnoksesta, sillä käytin ympyrää ovaalin sijaan - toivottavasti tämä sallitaan! Leimasimena on Whiff of Joyn juhliva Henry-hiiri (tämä veikkonen on niin onnellisen näköinen muffinssinsa kanssa :) ). Muffinssin päällysen koristelin irtosametilla, jossa on hieman glitteriä ja tulenliekkiin laitoin hieman Glossy Accentia, mutta jälleen kerran näitä on turha yrittää nähdä kortissa (jos sinulla on vinkkejä siihen, miten tällaiset yksityiskohdat saa erottumaan kuvissa, niin kerrothan..!). Molempien leimakuvien ympärille laitoin hieman Distress Inkin Vintage photoa. Paperit on BasicGreyn Offbeat ja Cupcake, sininen kartonki on Core'dinationsia. Haasteluonnoksessa noiden kahden paperin alla oli vielä yksi isompi neliönmallinen paperi - itse en halunnut korttiin enää lisää värejä, joten korvasin sen paperin piirtoheitinkalvolla! Se näyttää itse asiassa ihan kivalta kortissa, kun se heijastelee valoa. Muutenkin tykkään, kun kortissa on erilaisia pintoja, jotka tuntuvat erilaisilta sormeen.

I hope it doesn't matter, but in my card I slightly deviated from the sketch: I used a round shape instead of an oval one. The rubber stamp is Henry the celebrating mouse by Whiff of Joy (I just love the happy look on this little fella's face! :) ). I decorated the muffin (or is it a cupcake?) with yellow glitter velvet and added some Glossy Accent to the flame, but once again you can't really see them in the piccie (if you have any ideas as to how I can get these little details to show in the picture, please do tell me..). The papers are BasicGrey's Offbeat and Cupcake and the blue cardstock is by Core'dinations. In the sketch, there was one more layer of paper underneath the two rectangular papers but I didn't want to add another colour to my card, so instead of paper I used a clear transparency (of the kind you use with overhead projectors). It may sound funny, but it actually looks kinda nice when it catches the light and I like it when cards have different textures you can feel with your finger.

Sisäpuolelle laitoin valkoisen paperin, jonka reunoille laitoin hieman mustetta.

I decorated the inside with simple white paper, the sides of which I distressed with Vintage photo ink.
