Sukkersött Sommer #3

Työviikko on takana enkä ole ehtinyt postailla blogiin mitään, haipakkaa on pitänyt. Kortteja olen saanut tehtyä viikon aikana ihan kiitettävästi ja tässä niistä nyt ensimmäinen, tämä menee miehen 60 vuotta täyttävälle tädille. Osallistun tällä kortilla myös Sukkersöttin Sommer #3:een, jossa haasteena on käyttää itsetehtyjä kukkia.

The working week is over now and I haven't had time to post anything during the week, I've been so busy. I have made a few cards and here's the first of them, this one goes to hubby's aunt for her 60th birthday. I submit this card to the Sukkersött Sommer #3 where the challenge was to make something using self-made flowers.

Kukat tein Artemion ruusu- ja lehtileimasimilla Memory Boxin kullanväriselle paperille, embossasin ne kullanvärisellä jauheella, leikkasin irti ja kiinnitin osan 3D-tarrapaloilla. Lisäksi embossasin samaisella kultajauheella embossaamiseen sopivaa kaksipuolista teippiä - kokeilin sitä ensimmäistä kertaa ja olin melkoisen tyytyväinen, sillä sai helposti näyttävän näköisen koristeen korttiin. Paperit ovat taas BasicGreytä, perhospaperin reunan koristelin paper piercing -menetelmällä (onko sillä suomenkielistä nimeä?).

I stamped the flowers and the leaves with Artemio's stamps on some golden Memory Box paper, embossed them with gold embossing powder, cut them out and raised some of them with 3D foam cushions. I also embossed some doublesided tape with the embossing powder - this was the first time I tried it and I really liked the effect it gave. The papers are once again by BasicGrey. I used paper piercing to decorate the edges of the butterfly paper.


Sisäpuolen koristelin samaisella embossatulla teipillä, kullanvärisillä tarrahelmillä ja ääriviivatekstillä.
I decorated the inside of the card with the same doublesided, embossed tape, some golden pearls and peel off sticker text.


Sain tällä viikolla mukavaa postiakin. Osallistuin viime viikonloppuna Whiff of Joyn blog hoppiin ja yllätyksekseni voitin Camillan blogissa yllätys-blog candyn: WOJ:n uuden leimasimen, Thomasin. Thomas kotiutui eilen ja mukaan kiltti Camilla oli laittanut kauniita paperikukkia. Ihanaa postia, kiitos Camilla! :)

I got some great post this week. I did the Whiff of Joy blog hop last weekend and to my surprise I won some blog candy in Camilla's blog: the new party animal stamp by WOJ, Thomas. Thomas came home yesterday and the lovely Camilla also sent some beautiful paper flowers with him. How wonderful post, thank you Camilla! :)

Friday Sketchers 62 + Secret Crafter #42, Sukkersött Sommer #4

Lisää joulukortteja pukkaa! :) Kun kerran vauhtiin pääsin, niin mikäpäs siinä. Tällä ensimmäisellä kortilla osallistun kahteen haasteeseen: Friday Sketchersiin ja Secret Crafter Saturday Challengeen. Ensimmäisessä haasteena on luonnos, jonka näet linkistä ja toisessa haasteena on käyttää 3 nappia, 2 design paperia ja 1 nauha. Leimakuvana tässä on Whiff of Joyn Charlotte decorating Christmas tree, jonka väritin pitkästä aikaa Derwentin vesivärikynillä. Tähteen, koristeköynnökseen ja Charlotten hiuskoristeeseen lisäsin hieman Gelly roll -kimallekynää. Paperit ovat Fancy Pantsin Happy Holidays -paperikosta. Napit ovat Woodwarelta ja nauha varastoista.

These Christmas cards just keep on coming! :) But let them come, I say! I submit this first card to two challenges: Friday Sketchers and Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge. In the first the challenge is the sketch which you can find if you click on the link and in the second the challenge is to use 3 buttons, 2 design papers and 1 ribbon. The stamp I used is Whiff of Joy's Charlotte decorating Christmas tree which I coloured with Derwent watercolour pencils (haven't used them for ages!). I applied a little Gelly roll glitter pen to the star, the decorative garland and Charlotte's hair band. The papers are from the Happy Holidays set by Fancy Pants , buttons are by Woodware and the ribbon is from my stash.


Tällä toisella kortilla osallistun Sukkersöttin Sommer #4 luonnoshaasteeseen. Leimakuvana tässä on Whiff of Joyn Molly the Celebrating Sheep, jonka niinikään väritin vesivärikynillä. Paperit ovat samaa Fancy Pantsia, lisänä hieman punchinellaa ja dew dropseja. Kortti aukeaa "ylöspäin".

I submit this next card to Sukkersött's Sommer #4 sketch challenge. The stamp I used is Molly the Celebrating Sheep by Whiff of Joy and I coloured it with the watercolour pencils as well. Again the papers are by Fancy Pants, and I added some punchinella and dew drops. The text says 'Merry Christmas'. Sweet and simple!



Tänään on sitten viimeinen kesälomapäivä ja huomenna pitää taas töihin, voi kurjuutta! Kuinka neljä viikkoa voi mennä näin nopeasti?! Vaikkakaan eipä sitä oikein voi valittaa, kun vielä on työpaikka, jonne mennä, näinä aikoina kun se ei tunnu olevan aina niin varmaa. En siis valita, jään vain hiljaa kaipaamaan aamuja, joina voi nukkua pitkään..! ;)

So today is the last day of my summer hols and tomorrow I'm off to work again, oh woe is me! How can four weeks go by so fast?! Although I can't really complain as I still have a job to go to, these days it seems that you can't really take it for granted that you have a job, so I really should just count my blessings here. So no more complaining! (I'll just quietly miss the slow mornings when you can sleep for as long as you want to... ;) )

Ensimmäiset joulukortit tälle vuodelle on tehty! Kerrankin ajoissa liikkeellä... ;) Nyt niitä pitäisi vain tehdä tasaista tahtia, ettei tule kiirettä. Nämä joulukortit ovat varsin yksinkertaisia toteutukseltaan, mutta toivottavasti kuitenkin ihan kivan näköisiä. Paperit ovat BasicGreyn jouluista Wassail-sarjaa ja kauniisti hohtava nauha on varastojen kätköistä. Ensimmäiseen korttiin sitä riitti rusetille asti, mutta toiseen tein vain löysän solmun.

I have made my first two Christmas cards for this year! For once I've started making them early enough and now I should just keep making them so that I won't have to hurry. These ones are quite simple but hopefully OK to look at as well. The papers are BasicGrey's Wassail-series and the beautiful shimmery ribbon is from my stash. I managed to make a bow in the first card but then there wasn't enough ribbon left so I just had to make a loose knot in the second card.

The Sugar Bowl Challenge #15

On taas aika osallistua Sugar Bowl -haasteeseen. Luonnoksen on tehnyt Gayle ja lisähaasteena tällä kertaa on nauhojen ja/tai rusettien käyttö. Tämänkertainen luonnos on kauniin yksinkertainen, kiitos siitä! Tulen varmasti käyttämään sitä uudelleen.

It's time again for another Sugar Bowl Challenge. This time the sketch is by Gayle and the 'please include' option is the use of ribbons and/or bows. I liked this sketch, it was simple yet beautiful, thank you Gayle! I'm sure I'll use it in the future as well.

Leimakuva on Leanne Ellisin suunnittelema Sugar Nellie -leimasin nimeltään Blossom. Kuvasta ei varmaankaan näy, mutta Annien hame on leimattu keltaiselle mulperipaperille, leikattu ääriviivoja myöten irti ja liimattu paikalleen. Siitä tuli mukava kosketuspinta korttiin :) Paperit ovat October Afternoonin ihanaa Cherry Hill -sarjaa, nauha varastojen syövereistä ja korupiikit itse tehty. Tekstileimasin on Finnstamperin. Käänsin tuota haasteen luonnosta hieman ja korvasin tuon yhden "palkin" nauhalla, joten ihan yksi yhteen ei tällä kertaa menty.

The stamp I used is a Leanne Ellis design for Sugar Nellie and called Blossom. You probably cannot see it in the piccie, but I stamped Annie's skirt on yellow mulberry paper, cut it out and glued it on. The papers are October Afternoon's wonderful Cherry Hill -series, the ribbon is from my stash and the pins I made myself. The text says "For a friend". I deviated from the sketch ever so lightly as I twisted it around a bit and replaced the element that's on the left hand's side in the original sketch with the ribbon. Hope it's ok! :)

Muffinsseja - Cupcakes

Tämänpäiväinen kortti on tällainen perusonnittelukortti. Muffinsit ovat Greeting Farmin Susie Surprise -setistä, niissä on päällä hieman fun flockia/glitter velvetiä (alimman ja ylimmän muffinsin pitäisi kimaltaa hieman ;) ) ja alimman muffinssin kirsikassa on hieman glossy accentsia. Paperit ovat BasicGreyn Romani-sarjaa. Kortin sisäpuolella on tekstinä "paljon onnea". Tämä oli ensimmäinen kerta pitkään aikaan, kun teen ns. tavallisen C6-kokoisen kortin, sillä olen nyt pitkän pitkän aikaa tehnyt noita 13,5x13,5 cm:n neliökortteja. Tämä oli ihan mukavan kokoinen ja muotoinen vaihteeksi, pitääkin koittaa tehdä enemmän näitä.

Today's card is a simple birthday card. The cupcakes are from The Greeting Farm's Susie Surprise set and I decorated them with some fun flock/glitter velvet (the top and the bottom cupcake should be glittering a little ;) ). The cherry on top of the bottom cupcake has some glossy accents on it. The papers are Romani by BasicGrey. Inside the card there's a text saying "congrats". I haven't made a card using this shape and size (ca. 10,5x14,5 centimetres) for a long time and it felt really nice for a change. I usually do square cards the size 13,5x13,5 centimetres but I guess I'll have to try to make more of these as well.

Värejä! - Colours! (Color Inspiration #56 & Stamp Something)

En ole koskaan aikaisemmin osallistunut värihaasteeseen, joten pitihän sitäkin koittaa! Kristina Werner pitää blogissaan Color Inspiration -haasteita, jossa tällä kertaa väreinä onJotta homma ei kävisi liian helpoksi, yhdistin tähän korttiin vielä toisenkin haasteen, nimittäin Stamp Somethingin uusimman luonnoksen, jota tosin käänsin hieman.

I have never before taken part in a colour challenge, so of course I had to try it! Kristina Werner hosts Color Inspiration challenges in her blog and this time the colours you have to use are the ones above. To make things a bit more challenging I combined another challenge with it, namely Stamp Something's newest sketch which I kind of turned around a bit.

Leimakuvana kortissa on Dahlia, The Greeting Farmin hurmaava neitokainen. Paperit ovat jälleen kerran BasicGreytä (Ambrosia), kukka, dew dropsit, nauha ja napit ovat kaikki varastojeni kätköistä.

The rubber stamp I used is Dahlia, The Greeting Farm's lovely young lady. The papers are once again by BasicGrey, Ambrosia this time, and the flower, the dew drops, the ribbon and the buttons are from my stash.

Olen hirvittävän otettu tästä, kiitos Paula!! Minun pitäisi nyt valita, kelle annan tämän... Mietin pitkään, annanko tätä ylipäätään eteenpäin, koska valinta on niin vaikea (kaikki seuraamani blogit ansaitsisivat tämän!) enkä oikein edes tiedä, onko tässä rajoituksia, kuinka monelle tämän voi antaa. I got quite a surprise today - Paula had given me this lovely award! :) I am really grateful for this award, thank you Paula!! Now I should choose to whom I want to give the award. I thought long and hard about whether to give it to anyone at all because it's so hard to choose (all the blogs I follow deserve this!) and I'm not even sure if there are restrictions as to how many people I can give this to. However, I decided to give this award to five amazing blogs. First of all, I want to give it back to Paula who makes amazing cards, beautiful works of art! Next I'll give it to Miia whose blog is full of inspiration and great ideas. Xing deserves this award as well, I've gotten so many new ideas from her (I just feel that I don't have the time to try out every new idea even if I want to because she keeps coming up with them all the time! :) ). Laura is our lovely Finnish lady in Australia and she deserves this award not only because she makes gorgeous cards and layouts but also because she is such a lovely lovely person, all this comes out in her blog. And the 5th person I want to give this to is Leanne, lovely lady whose art is simply unbelievably beautiful - her blog is an experience!

Tri Shutter Card

Aloitin eilen tekemään tätä korttia ja sain sen valmiiksi tänään. Kyseessä on tri shutter card, jolle en tiedä suomenkielistä nimeä, mutta ohjeen sille löysin täältä. Aluksi ohje vaikutti hieman hankalalta, mutta loppuviimein se olikin melko helppo tehdä ja siitä sai varsin hauskannäköisen ja hieman ehkä erikoisemmankin kortin. Kuitenkin se on tavallisen kortin kokoinen ja menee siis C6-kuoreen.

I started making this card yesterday and finished it today. This one is called tri shutter card and I found a tutorial for it here. It appeared to be slightly difficult to make at first but eventually it turned out to be pretty easy and the finished card looks quite fun and not your run-of-the-mill card.

Tuo Inkadinkadon lintuleimasin on yksi suosikkilintuleimasimistani, leimasin sen Versafinen harmaalla musteella ja embossasin kirkkaalla jauheella. Paperiin linnun taustalla leimasin Hero Artsin kukkakuvioisella taustaleimasimella ja embossasin sen valkoisella jauheella. Perhoset on leikattu Martha Stewartin leikkurilla ja koristeltu Kaisercraftin timangeilla, myös helmet ovat Kaisercraftin. Korupiikin tein itse. Paperit ovat taas BasicGreytä, Porcelainia tällä kertaa. Pitsi on alkujaan mummon varastojen kätköistä.

The bird stamp is by Inkadinkado, it's one of my favourite bird stamps ever. I stamped it with Versafine's Smokey Grey ink and embossed with clear powder. I stamped the paper behind the bird with Hero Arts' floral background stamp and embossed it with white embossing powder. The butterflies are made with a Martha Stewart punch and embellished with Kaisercraft rhinestones. The pearls are also by Kaisercraft and the pin I made myself. The papers are once again by BasicGrey (Porcelain). The lace is from my granny.

Tämä kortti oli vaikea kuvata, joten otin sitten useamman kuvan (jollain logiikalla tässä on järkeä... ;) ). Tässä kortti on täysin auki ja "makuullaan".
It was quite diffucult to take pictures of this card, so I ended up taking several (yes, there is a logic to it... ;) ). Here the card is fully open and lying down on its back.


Tässä kortin "kansi" näkyy parhaiten. Tuo pitsi on oikeasti kermanvärinen sekä etukannessa että tuolla kortin viimeisessä osassa, se taisi vain napata vaaleanpunaista tuosta taustapaperista tähän kuvaan.
Here's a view of the front panel of the card. The lace is actually cream coloured both on the front and the last panel, I guess the background paper just gave it the pinkish colour it has on the front panel in this piccie.

Here's the middle part of the card. The text says "For you on your birthday" and on the righthand's side panel it says "Congrats".

Kävimme muuten eilen katsomassa uuden Ice Age 3 -leffan miehen ja kahden veljenpoikani kanssa. Leffa oli todella hauska, siinä oli naurun aihetta sekä aikuisille että lapsille (ja luulenpa, että aikuisten hauska siinä meni lapsilta ohi...). Hauskin sekä lasten että meidän aikuisten mielestä oli Jyrsiksen tangon tanssiminen, siinä oli tunteen paloa! :) Kannattaa käydä katsomassa tuo leffa, sen verran hauska se oli! :)

Hubby and I took two of my nephews out to see the new Ice Age 3 yesterday. It was actually really funny film, both children and adults laughed a lot. We all loved Scrat's tango dancing the best, oh the emotion that went into it! :) Go see it if you have the opportunity, it is worth it! :)
