'What's in a name?'*

Tässä tulee taas niitä minulta tilattuja kiitoskortteja. Tällä kertaa tilaajana oli vanhempi rouva, joten ajattelin ruusujen sopivan kortteihin kuin nenä päähän. Tähän ensimmäiseen korttiin leimailin ja leikkailin ruusuja ja jätin kortin muuten melko simppeliksi, jotta ruusut olisivat pääosassa.

Here are a few thank you cards that someone asked me to make. The person who ordered these cards is an elderly lady so I thought roses would suit her cards perfectly. For this first card I just stamped and cut out some roses but left the card otherwise quite simple so that the roses would play the main role.

Tässä seuraavassa kortissa jätin kauniit paperit pääosaan enkä raaskinut peittää niitä oikein mitenkään. Simppeliä taas mutta kortista tuli mielestäni ihan nätti.

In this second card I wanted the beautiful papers to have the main focus. Once again this is quite simple but nice, I think.

Tästä viimeisestä kortista tuli ehkä itselleni mieluisin. Kukka on leimattu akvarellitekniikalla vesiväripaperille, taustalla on vain  yksi paperi ja muutenkin koristeet ovat melko vähäiset (mikä lie minimalistinen vaihe minulle on oikein iskenyt..? ;) ).

This last card is probably my own favourite. I stamped the flower on some aquarelle paper using the aquarelle technique, used just one patterned paper on the background and kept the embellishments to the minimum (I don't know what's come over me, a minimalist phase of some sort..? ;) ).

Minulta pyydettiin korttia 18 vuotta täyttävälle nuorelle naiselle ja toiveena oli, että kortissa olisi vaaleanpunaista jossain muodossa. En ollut ihan varma kortin tyylistä, joten tein sitten kaksi, joista valita - toivottavasti jompi kumpi kelpaa! Tämä ensimmäinen on tyyliltään suloisempi ja hempeämpi kortti mutta toivottavasti ei kuitenkaan liian ällösöpö ;) Osallistun tällä kortilla myös pariin haasteeseen, Penny Black Saturday Challengessa haasteena #92 on keväiset värit ja Crafty Cardmakersillä haaste on 'a feminine celebration' eli kortissa pitää olla jotain naispuolista.

I was asked to make a birthday card for a young lady turning 18 and the only wish was that there be pink in some form. I wasn't sure what kind of card to make so I made two! This first one is a cutesy one but hopefully not too cute... I also submit this card to two challenges, Penny Black Saturday Challenge #92 is 'spring colours' and Crafty Cardmakers' challenge is 'a feminine celebration'.

The second card has a slightly different feeling... I used DoodleFactory stamps but kept the card otherwise quite simple. I submit this card to P*skarteluhaaste (a Finnish challenge blog), their challenge for the week is 'dots and circles'.

Kiitoskorteilla jatketaan. Tämä ensimmäinen on ehkä maailman yksinkertaisin kortti mutta mielestäni siitä tuli kuitenkin todella kiva, itse ainakin tykkään siitä. Ja voiko olla ihanempia värejä kuin vaaleanpunainen ja tummanruskea... :)

I have a couple of thank you cards to show you again. This first one is perhaps the simplest card in the history of mankind but me thinks it turned out quite nice, I like it. And pink and dark brown - can there be prettier colours... :)

Seuraavasta kortista en ole ihan niin varma. Idea oli hyvä, mutta jotenkin tuntuu, että toteutuksessa jokin mättää... Leimasin siis ensin nuo linnut suoraan korttipohjaan ja laitoin niihin väritöntä kohojauhetta, sen jälkeen leikkasin osan kortista pois ja laitoin liilaa kartonkia taustaksi. Sitten vain muutama dew drops, kiitos-teksti ja se oli siinä. (Olimme muuten taas Bloggerin kanssa eri mieltä siitä, miten päin kuva tulisi blogiin laittaa, joten jouduin taas rajaamaan kuvan oudosti).

I'm not so sure about this next card. I think the idea was good but maybe there's something lacking with the end result... I first stamped the birds to white card blank and embossed them with clear powder, then I cut away pieces of the card blank and placed them with lilac cardstock. Then I just added a few dew drops and stamped the sentiment (which says 'Thank you') and that was it. (Once again I disagreed with Blogger in regards to how the piccie should be placed in my blog so again I had to frame the piccie this way).

Hohtoa - Shimmer

Tein vielä toisenkin kortin sillä CPS:n luonnoksella, jolla tein edellisen postauksen kortinkin. Tässä kortissa pääsin käyttämään noihin ympyröihin uutta leluani, nimittäin maailmalta minulle kotiutunutta Cuttlebugia! 8) On se kätevä vehje... :)

I made another card with the same CPS's sketch that I used to make the card in the previous post. With this card I got to use my new toy for the first time - my new lovely Cuttlebug! 8) See how perfectly the circles are cut..? ;)

Käytin perhosessa ja noissa ympyröissä Perfect Pearlseja, tässä lähikuvassa niiden hohto näkyy hieman paremmin.
I used Perfect Pearls for the butterfly and in the circles, here's a close up where their shimmer can be seen better.

Keväisiä värejä - Spring-like colours

Minulta tilattiin kiitoskortteja, joista tässä ensimmäinen. Pohjana käytin Card Positioning Systemsin haasteluonnosta #157 ja väreiksi valikoituivat melkein vahingossa varsin keväiset sävyt - toisaalta ihmekö tuo, kun ulkona räystäät tippuvat vettä ja aurinko paistaa! :)

I was asked to make a few thank you cards and this is the first of the batch. I based the card on the sketch by Card Positioning Systems (challenge #157) and almost accidentally picked quite spring-like colours for it - I guess the weather outside is affecting me, at the moment the sun is shining and snow is melting! :)

(Jouduin rajaamaan kuvan hiukan hassusti, kun Blogger halusi välttämättä vääntää kuvan/kortin pystyasentoon eikä vaakaan, kuten sen pitäisi olla. Ainoa keino, jolla pystyin välttämään sen, oli tällainen rajaus. Onko sinulla vinkkiä siihen, miten Bloggeria voisi estää kääntämästä kuvia "väärinpäin" tai miten kuvia voisi bloggeriin lataamisen jälkeen vielä kääntää?
I had to frame the piccie this way because Blogger tried to place it as a portrait and not horizontally as I wanted it, and framing the piccie this way was the only way I could avoid it. )

Cool cat*

Osallistun nyt jo toista viikkoa putkeen P*skarteluhaasteeseen (tästähän tulee aivan tapa! ;D ). Tällä kertaa haasteena #29 on käyttää pastellivärejä. Yritin tässä kortissa käyttää mahdollisimman paljon pastellivärejä päätymättä kuitenkaan liian hempeään lopputulokseen ja mielestäni onnistuin. Värityksessä käytin ProMarkereita ensimmäistä kertaa pitkään aikaan. Muutama niitä minulla on mutta en ole oikein koskaan oppinut niitä käyttämään, joten ei kannata nytkään odottaa mitään värityksellistä mestarillisuutta... ;)

I'm submitting this card to the Finnish challenge blog P*skarteluhaaste for the second time in a row (I seem to be growing a new habit... ;D ) and this time the challenge is to use pastel colours. In this card, I tried to use pastel colours without ending up with a card that's too cutiepie sweetie in colours, hope I succeeded. I coloured the stamped image with ProMarkers, something I haven't done in ages. I do have a few ProMarkers but I've never really learnt how to use them properly so please don't expect masterful colouring... ;)

Katulamppu - A street light

Sukkersöttissä on tällä kertaa mukava luonnos haasteena (#74), joten innostuin tekemään sillä kortin. Suhteellisen yksinkertaisella toteutuksella taas matkassa (ei leimakuvien värityksiä tms.) mutta joskus on mukava tehdä tällaisiakin kortteja.

There's a lovely sketch over at the Sukkersött challenge blog this week (challenge #74) so I decided to make a card using it. This is a fairly simple card (no colouring of stamped images etc.) but sometimes it's nice to make cards like this as well.

Leimakuvan embossasin mustalla kohojauheella, jossa on kimalletta mukana ja siitä tuli mielestäni ihan kivan näköinen.

I embossed the stamped image with black embossing powder that has some glitter in it and I think it turned out quite nice.
