Rippikortti - Card for Confirmation party

Tulevana viikonloppuna on miehen veljenpojan rippijuhla, joten tein hänelle kortin (yllätys, yllätys... ;) ). En ole koskaan aikaisemmin tehnyt rippikorttia ja kun kortti vielä tulee teini-ikäiselle pojalle, oli siinä haastetta kerrakseen. Mietin aluksi, teenkö uskonnollista korttia ollenkaan vaiko vain jonkin "neutraalin" kortin, mutta päätin sitten pelata varman päälle ja mennä uskonnolliseen suuntaan. Jätin kortin melko yksinkertaiseksi ja ilman sen suurempia koristeita, josko se olisi enemmän poikien mieleen. Leimasimet ovat Inkadinkadoon setistä Spiritual sketches.

My hubby's nephew has his Confirmation party this coming weekend and - surprise, surprise! ;) - I made him a card. This was quite a challenge as I have never made such a card before and as it was for a teenage boy... phew! I decided to make a traditional card with spiritual image, just to be on the safe side, and I left the card quite simple, hopefully to suit a boy's taste. The stamps used are from Spiritual sketches set by Inkadinkado.

The Sugar Bowl #36

Tervehdys vaipparallin keskeltä! ;) Olen päässyt muutamaan otteeseen irtautumaan Pienestä Tärkeästä sen verran, että olen jokusen kortin ehtinyt väsäillä vaikkakaan en ole niitä blogiin asti ehtinyt laittaa. Tämän kortin yritän nyt pikaisesti blogata, koska osallistun sillä uudistuneeseen Sugar Bowl -haasteeseen. Luonnoksen on tehnyt Lilian ja teemana on pinkki, valkoinen ja musta. Onneksi teemaa ei ole pakko seurata - minun kortissani musta nimittäin muuttui harmaaksi! Koska sattuneista syistä johtuen yritän nykyään nopsaan blogata, en luettele kortin aineksia enää sen tarkemmin - mikäli niistä tulee kysyttävää, kysy pois! Leimasin on tällä kertaa kuitenkin Leanne Ellisin Sugar Nellielle suunnittelema Belle Flower.

Greetings from behind piles of diapers! ;) I have managed to tear myself away from The Tiny One enough to make a few cards although I haven't had time to post them in my blog. I'll post this one quickly as I'll submit it to the "new and improved" Sugar Bowl challenge. The sketch is by Lilian (and what a fab sketch it is!) and the theme is pink, black and white. Fortunately for me it's not obligatory to follow the theme as black turned out to be grey in my card! ;) From now on I won't list the ingredients of my cards as I only have limited amount of time to spend blogging but if you have any questions regarding the ingredients (or anything else for that matter!), please ask. The stamp, however, is by Leanne Ellis for Sugar Nellie and it's called Belle Flower.

Maailman tärkein - The most special one

Viime sunnuntain äitienpäivä oli erityinen minulle - se oli nimittäin ensimmäinen, jota itse juhlin äitinä! Viime kuun loppupuolella meille syntyi Pieni Tärkeä, suloisista suloisin pieni poika, meidän silmäterämme. Tästä syystä en ole pahemmin ehtinyt postailemaan blogiin saati kortteilemaan, joitakin valmiita kortteja on postaamatta ja uusia teen, jahka aika ja Pieni Tärkeä antavat myöten. Postaustahti tulee varmastikin hiljenemään ainakin näin aluksi, mutta toivottavasti silti jaksat joskus piipahtaa blogissani - jokainen vierailu ja jokainen vierailija blogissani on kuitenkin ilon lähde minulle. 

The Mother's Day last Sunday was a special one for me as it was the first I celebrated as a mother! The Tiny Special One, the cutest boy, our son was born at the end of last month and that's the reason I haven't really had time to post anything or to make cards. I have a few cards I haven't shown you yet and I'll make new ones when I have the time but I probably will not be able to post anything on my blog as often as before (although I will do my best!). However, I do hope you'll pop by my blog every now and again as I do appreciate each and every one of my visitors.

Murjottaja? - Sulker?

Tässä tulee vielä yksi veljenpojalleni mennyt synttärikortti, joka minua pyydettiin tekemään. Olen melko harvoin käyttänyt tätä Whiff of Joyn leimaa, joten päätin tehdä kortin sillä. Minulla ei kuitenkaan ole mitään leimasinta, jolla leimata "istuma-alustaa" (tuolia, aitaa, porttia tms), joten käytin istuimena Taitopuoti Paperinauhan tekstileimasinsetissä olevaa onnea-neliötä, jonka päällystin kolmeen kertaan UTEE:lla - pitäähän istuimen nyt kiiltää.. ;)

Here's another card that went to my nephew and that I was asked to make. I haven't used this Whiff of Joy's stamp that often so I chose it for the card. As I don't have any chair/brick wall etc. stamp on which the boy could sit I decided to use a square stamp that says "congrats*congrats*congrats..." as a chair. I glaced it three times with UTEE to make it pop (although you can't see it in the piccie...).

Tein kortin sisäpuolelle taskun rahalahjaa varten./I made a little pocket inside the card for the gift (money). The sentiment says something like 'Congrats to a top guy'.

Jäin näin jälkeenpäin miettimään tuota leimakuvaa, josko poika näyttää liian mietteliäältä, sillä synttärisankarin veli kysyi kortin nähdessään, että miksi se poika murjottaa... Ei ihan se fiilis, jota korttiin hain ;) Onneksi synttärisankari itse ei ollut sitä mieltä, että poika näyttäisi murjottavalta!

I've been thinking if the boy in the stamp looks a bit too serious or like he's too deep in his thoughts as the birthday boy's brother asked when he saw the card: why the boy in the card sulks... Not quite the feeling I had in mind when I made the card ;) Luckily the birthday boy himself didn't share his brother's view of the card!

Portaita - Steps

Veljenpoikani täyttää piakkoin 9 vuotta ja halusin tehdä hänelle hieman erilaisen kortin kuin yleensä. Näitä side step -kortteja (porraskortti? sivuporraskortti?) olen ihaillut muiden blogeissa ja nyt päätin kokeilla sellaisen tekoa itse. Ohjeen löysin täältä (ohjeessa mitat on senteissä, joten säästyin tuuma-sentti-rumbalta) ja jälleen kerran kortti mielestäni näyttää monimutkaisemmalta kuin se itse asiassa onkaan (tai sitten kaikenlaiset taittelukortit vain häikäisevät minut niin helposti ;) ).

My nephew has his 9th birthday soon and I wanted to make him a special card. I've admired these side step cards in others' blogs and now I thought would be a great time to try one myself. I found the tutorial for the card here and once again the final card seems so much more complicated than it actually is to make (either that or all kinds of folded cards just amaze me so easily ;) ).

Kerubi - Cherub

Melko viime tippaan jää tämänkertainen osallistuminen Sugar Bowl -haasteeseen mutta koska mukaan ehdin, niin haitanneeko tuo. Tällä kertaa haaste oli hieman erilainen, sillä nyt sai itse valita aikaisemmista luonnoksista sen, jolla haluaa tällä kertaa osallistua. Itse valitsin luonnoksen #20, joka oli mielestäni yksinkertainen ja kaunis. Ja tällainen kortti siitä syntyi.

This is almost a last minute thing but I'm submitting this card to the Sugar Bowl Challenge # 32. This time you got to choose your favourite of the past sketches and I chose sketch # 20 - I thought it was simple and beautiful. And this card is what I came up with.

(Jouduin rajaamaan kuvan taas hieman oudosti - osa scrapper's flossia jäi kuvan ulkopuolelle - mutta jälleen kerran Blogger yritti puolestani päättää, miten päin kuva blogiin tulee. Emme olleet samaa mieltä ja tässä on tulos ;)
I had to frame the piccie a bit oddly - part of the scrapper's floss got left out of the piccie - but Blogger and I had some disagreements as to how the piccie should be placed in my blog and the result of the disagreement is what you see ;) )

Easel-kortti - Easel card

Monessa blogissa on näkynyt näitä easel-kortteja (mitä lie ovat suomeksi), joten ajattelin minäkin yrittää sellaisen tekoa. Yllättävän helppo taittelukortti tämä oli, vaikka näyttääkin monimutkaiselta. Tämä kortti oli tilauskortti ja meni 60-v. onnittelukortiksi, toivottavasti oli mieluinen.

I've seen these easel cards in many blogs and always found them fascinating so I decided I wanted to try to make one myself. Easel cards look quite complicated but I think this was easy to make. This was a made to order card for someone turning 60, I hope they liked it.
