Iso, isompi, JUMBO - Big, bigger, JUMBO

Tuntuu, että tulen jotenkin hitaasti mukaan näihin askartelu"trendeihin" mutta nyt sitten löytyy jumbokukkanen täältäkin ;D Katselin kauan näitä leimasimia ja ihastuin lopulta tähän Stampendousin jumbopioniin ja pitihän se saada :) Tähän korttiin embossasin tuon kukkasen kirkkaalla jauheella ja väritin Distresseillä. Sitten vain kasasin kartonkeja päällekkäin, kiinnitin kukan 3D-tarroilla ja lisäsin helmet. Ja siinä se, jälleen kerran! :)

I feel I'm a bit slow to pick up on trends in crafting but now finally I too have a jumbo sized flower stamp in my stash :D I took fancy to this Jumbo Peony by Stampendous and just had to have it ;) For this card I heat embossed the stamped flower with clear powder and coloured it with Distress Inks. Then I just matted a few cardstocks, attached the flower with foam mounting pads and added the tiny pearls. And that was it, once again! :)

Heroa haasteeseen - Who's the Boss?

Tämä Hero Artsin Hydrangea-leimasin on sitten ihana! :) Ja kun en ole sitä hetkeen käyttänyt, ajattelin tehdä sillä kortin A Blog Named Heron tämänkertaiseen haasteeseen, jossa kaivattiin jonkin sortin embossausta/kohokuviointia. Tähän kohokuvioin ihan vain (tylsästi) tuon kartongin. Taustan kuviopaperi on My Mind's Eyen ja leimasin tosiaan Hero Artsia, väritetty Distress markereilla. Kukkien keskustoihin lisäsin hieman kimalletta Kuretaken Wink of Stella -kynällä, mutta se ei oikein kuvassa näy.

I just love this Hydrangea stamp! :) As I haven't used it much lately, I thought I'd make a card with it for the challenge over at A Blog Named Hero, the challenge is to use some form of embossing. For this card, I dry embossed the lilac cardboard. The patterned paper is by My Mind's Eye and the rubber stamp is by Hero Arts. I coloured the stamped image with Distress Markers and added a little bit of glitter to the centres of the tiny flowers with a Wink of Stella pen by Kuretake (although it doesn't really show in the photo).

Tömpsäyttelyä - Staining it

"Put a STAMP on it" on Simon Says Stamp Challengen aiheena tällä kertaa ja eipä näissä korteissa paljon muuta olekaan. Ajattelin kokeilla yhtä uutta leimasintani tälläisiin yksinkertaisempiin kortteihin ja vaikka itse sanonkin, tykkään lopputuloksesta aika lailla :) Leimasin siis Paperbag Studiosin Balloons-leiman mustalla StazOnilla korttipohjaan, samoin leimasin tuon tekstin. Leimakuvan "väritin" sitten tömpsäyttämällä kolmea eri Distress Stainia leimakuvan päälle. Ja siinä se! Jälleen kerran yksinkertaista....

'Put a STAMP on it', is the challenge this week over at Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog. And stamps are pretty much all I have on these cards ;) I thought I'd try one of my new rubber stamps for these CAS style birthday cards and I ended up liking the cards quite a lot. So I just stamped the Balloons stamp by Paperbag Studios with black StazOn on a card blank and 'coloured' the stamped image by hitting it with three different Distress Stains. The sentiment is stamped with black StazOn as well and it says 'congrats'.

The second card is similar to the first, the only differences are the tiny black rhinestone I added to the heart and the sentiment (which is just another way of saying 'congrats' in Finnish).

Kukkia ja perhosia - Flowers and butterflies

Osallistuin tuossa kesällä Online Card Classesin Stretch Your Stamps -kurssille ja tein kortin erään kurssilla olleen mallikortin inspiroimana. Ideana tässä on siis se, että tuohon kortin kanteen stanssataan aukko ja stanssia vastaavalla leimalla leimataan (tässä tapauksessa) kukka, joka sitten liimataan kortin sisäosaan niin, että se näkyy aukosta. Tuosta aukosta ja kukasta olisi tullut hieman näyttävämpi, jos olisin tehnyt korttia ajatuksella ;) ja kaventanut korttipohjaa ennen tuon kuviopaperin liimaamista - tällä tavalla olisin voinut stanssata aukon ja laittaa kukan reippaammin ulos kortista, kuten tarkoitus oli, ja se olisi silti mahtunut kuoreen. No, toisella kertaa sitten... ;) Muuten tässä ei sen erikoisempaa ole, kukkastanssi ja -leima on Papertrey Inkiä, kehysleima 7Gypsiesiä ja perhoset Marthan leikkurilla leikattuja ja Kuretaken Wink of Stella -kynällä väritettyjä, tekstileima FinnStamperia. Pallopaperi on Bazzill Basicsiä.

During the summer, I took part in the Stretch Your Stamps class hosted by Online Card Classes and made a card inspired by one of the cards in the class. The idea here is to use die cutting and stamping to create a window on the card front and then to attach the matching stamped image to the inside of the card so that it peaks through the window. It would have looked better if I had cut the card blank a bit narrower before attaching the patterned paper to it - that way I could have placed the window+matching stamp a little more outside of the card (as it was intended) but was I thinking when I made this card? Of course I wasn't.... Oh well, there's always the next time, isn't there? ;) Otherwise this card is quite simple, not much to it. The die and the matching stamp is by Papertrey Ink, the frame stamp is by 7Gypsies and the butterflies I punched with a Martha Stewart punch and coloured with a Wink of Stella pen by Kuretake. The sentiment says 'congrats'. The dotty paper is by Bazzill Basics.

Koulun alkuun - School's back!

Yksi veljenpojistani aloitti koulun tänä syksynä ja tapamme mukaan annoimme hänelle pienen koulunaloittajaislahjan (eihän kyniä ja kumeja voi koskaan olla liikaa? ;) ). Lahjan kylkeen tein pienen, simppelin tagin. Pohjan suihkin parilla eriDylusions ink sprayllä ja laitoin hieman soft gel mediumia (onko sille suomenkielistä nimeä..??) sapluunan avulla. Leimat ovat kaikki DoodleFactorya, paitsi tuo koulu-teksti, jonka leimailin Papertrey Inkin aakkosilla. Lisänä hieman washi-teippiä, pikkuniittejä ja narua. Niin, ja tähtitarra Snarglen rintamuksessa - kyllähän nyt jokainen pieni koululainen tähden rintaansa ansaitsee :)

One of my nephews started school this autumn and as usual, we gave him a little present to mark the occasion (one can never have too many cool pencils or erasers, right? ;) ) and I made this simple little tag to go with it. I used some Dylusions ink sprays and some soft gel medium to make the background and then stamped and coloured some DoodleFactory images to be the focal points. The text on the sign says 'school' and is stamped with Papertrey Ink alphabets. As embellies there's some washi tape, mini staples and some twine. And that's pretty much it - simples, right? ;)

Sivun sanomaa - A telling page?

Oliko ikävä?! :) No joo, enpä ihmettelisi, vaikka kukaan ei enää muistaisikaan minua saati pientä blogiani mutta täällä ollaan taas :) Blogissa on ollut melko hiljaista koko kesän (minkä kesän...?) ja osasyynä on ollut ihan vain kesä. Puutarhaa on laitettu (meillä on nyt vihdoin nurmikko, kukkapenkki ja muutama puukin on istutettu! Hurraa!), kotimaassa on matkusteltu ja mustikoita on poimittu omalta takapihalta (keskellä metsää asumisen pieniä etuja :) ). Kesästä on siis nautittu, minkä on ehditty mutta on blogihiljaisuuteen ollut muukin syy: surullisenkuuluisa mojo otti ja lähti kesän alussa enkä siis ole askarrellut oikeastaan mitään muutamaan kuukauteen. Tällä kertaa en tosin ole siitä niinkään stressannut, sillä mojottomuuteen on ollut mojova syy. Ai mikäkö? Hmm, valottaisiko tämä journal-sivu asiaa.... ;)

Well, did you miss me?! :) I wouldn't be surprised if no-one remembered me or my little blog-o anymore, but here I am *waving hand* :) My blog has been hibernating all summer (yes, pun intended!) partly because of the said summer (and I use the word 'summer' quite ironically here....). I have been busy 'building' our garden (we now have a lawn! And a flowerbed! And we've even planted some trees as well! Hooray!!), travelling a little around Finland with my hubby and the Cutest Little Boy in the World, and picking fresh wild blueberries from our backyard (that's one of the perks of living basically in the middle of the forest :) ). So, we have enjoyed the summer but there's another reason to my blogsilence as well: my mojo left me in the beginning of the summer which means I haven't really crafted for months. But this time I didn't really mind losing my mojo as there is a good reason for it. What's that, you might ask. Well, let's see if this art journal page can shed a little light on that.... ;)

(Kuvan nainen en tosin ole minä vaan joku nätti mahakas nainen H&M:n kuvastosta, minun vatsassani ei ole hintalappua :)

The woman on my journal page is not me but some pretty pregnant lady from the H&M catalogue, hence the price tag on her belly :) )

Näppiksen takana meitä on tällä hetkellä siis kaksi, minä ja pieni masuasukki! :) Tätä uutta ihanaa ihmistä odotamme saapuvaksi ensi tammikuussa. Tähän asti kaikki on mennyt varsin hyvin ja toivottavasti jatko on samanlaista. Ja nyt se mojokin alkaa palailla, joten ehkä täällä tullaan näkemään hieman askartelujakin. Saatanpa vielä yllättää kaikki ja blogihypellä kommentoidenkin ;)

So yes, we are expecting our second child! :) This wonderful little one should see the light of day in late January 2013, so there's a few months to go still. So far everything's gone smoothly and I hope the rest of the journey will be plain sailing as well. And I think my mojo's making a return, too, so maybe you'll see some crafty things on the blog as well. You might even see me bloghopping now and leaving some comments, you never know ;)
