The Flower Challenge #45: Reminder - Muistutus

We're midway through our June challenge at The Flower Challenge with the theme of 'Navy + One Other'. Our Guest Designer is Jenny Hall.

This time I went with navy and grey as my colours with white as the neutral colour.  I used Country Charisma stamp set (30-690) by Penny Black with the matching dies (Country Charisma Cut Out 51-634), and coloured the images with my Copics. For the background, I die cut a frame with Framed (51-622) die set by Penny Black. For the sentiment I combined a stamp from Only You (30-666) sentiment set with the die cut 'you' cut with For You dies (51-105), I heat embossed the stamped part of the sentiment.

The Flower Challenge #45: June - Kesäkuu

The June challenge is starting at The Flower Challenge and this month we have a colour challenge to inspire you, we're asking you to use 'Navy + One Other'. Our Guest Designer is the fabulous Jenny Hall.

I decided to go with die cuts this time and used a Penny Black die called Playful Posies and die cut my very dark navy florals with it. My one other colour is white and I die cut two frames with Penny Black's Simple Stackers dies. After adhering everything in place, I stamped my sentiment ('Congratulations') in navy ink.

Omaan korttiini käytin Penny Blackin ihanaa kukkastanssia, Playful Posies, ja stanssasin kukkaset tummansinisestä kartongista. Toinen värini on valkoinen, joten stanssasin Penny Blackin Simple Stackers -stanssilla pari paneelia ja kiinnitin kaiken paikoilleen. Tekstileiman leimasin navy-musteella.

The Flower Challenge #44: Reminder - Muistutus

We're mid-way through our May challenge at The Flower Challenge and our theme is 'Monochrome'. Our wonderful Guest Designer is Nonni.

I went for yellows for my reminder card. The stamp I used is 'Together' by Penny Black. Using yellow Distress Markers, I coloured straight to the stamp and stamped onto watercolour cardstock several times using a Misti. I sponged some yellow Distress Oxide ink to the edges of the panel, stamped my sentiment (it says 'Sunshine to your day') and matted the panel onto some dark brown cardstock before adhering it to yellow card base.

Käytin korttiini Penny Blackin leimaa Together. Väritin Distress Markereilla suoraan leimaan ja leimasin kuvan useampaan kertaan Mistillä. Reunoja mustetin Distress Oxide -musteella, leimasin tekstileiman ja kerrostin ruskealle kartongille ennen kuin kiinnitin paneelin korttipohjaan.

The Flower Challenge: May - Toukokuu

New month - new challenge at The Flower Challenge. Our theme for May is 'Monochrome' and as our Guest Designer we have the very talented Nonni.

I went for greys in my monochrome card and as much as the photo looks black and white, I can assure you it is actually a colour photo! :D Anyways, I used Penny Black stamps for my card, the watering can is from Country Charisma set and the flowers are from Exquisite Envelope set. I coloured them with my Copics and die cut them with the matching dies. I used dark grey card base and I die cut a rectangle frame out of the same grey cardstock. The sentiment is die cut with a Simply Graphic die.

Käytin kortissani harmaan sävyjä ja vaikka kuva näyttää mustavalkoiselta, se on ihan oikeasti värikuva! Leimakuvat ovat Penny Blackiä, kannu on Country Charisma -setistä ja kukat Exquisite Envelope -setistä, väritin ne Copiceilla. Harmaaseen korttipohjaan stanssasin kehyksen samasta harmaasta kartongista, tekstin stanssasin valkoisesta kartongista Simply Graphicin stanssilla.

The Flower Challenge #41: Reminder - Muistutus

I'm back with another card for our current challenge at The Flower Challenge. The theme for February is 'Add Leaves' and we have as our Guest Designer the fabulous Galina Filippenko.

For my card, I used a floral stamp from the Straight Up Floral set by Stamping Bella and I added my leaves using the leaf stamp from the same set. I did my colouring with Copic Markers. For the background, I used a piece of patterned paper and a frame die cut with Stitches of Love frame dies by Penny Black. I stamped my sentiment (it says 'This is your day') on a strip of vellum and added some black Nuvo drops to embellish the card.

The Flower Challenge #41

A new month means a new challenge at The Flower Challenge and during February we'd like you to 'Add Leaves' to your floral creations. As our Guest Designer, we have our winner from last August, the very talented Galina Filippenko.

For my card, I used Wild Roses stamps by Pretty Pink Posh. I coloured the images with my Copics and added a bit of white Gelly Roll pen to them. In addition to the stamped leaves, I also added some die cut leaves die cut with MFT's Leafy Greenery dies. For the background, I used some patterned paper and a frame die cut with Penny Black's Antique Frame dies. The sentiment says 'Congrats'.

Best cards of 2019 - The Flower Challenge

It's time to look back on last year and the cards I've made and choose my favourite cards that I made for The Flower Challenge during 2019. I love all styles of cardmaking but tend to lean towards the clean and simple (or clean and layered, depending on the definition) style and I think my cards reflect that. And looking at the cards I chose, I think we could also play a game called 'Guess my favourite floral colour'... LOL!

Valitsin neljä itselleni mieluisinta korttia ja ajattelin, että samalla voisimme pelata helppoa peliä nimeltään "Arvaa Milla lempiväri", ha ha! It's time for a new challenge at The Flower Challenge and this time we're asking you to add spots or stripes to your floral creation. This month we're being sponsored by Top Flight Stamps who are kindly giving our winner an e-gift card for $25. We also have a Guest Designer, the talented Tracy is joining us for the month of November.

For my card, I used this gorgeous peony cluster from Newton's Nook's Peony Dreams which I coloured with my Copic markers. I added spots in the form of patterned paper by Lili of the Valley. The sentiment stamp I used says 'Congrats'. I also rounded the bottom corners of the card with my corner chomper and added a few clear sequins to embellish the card.

For my card I used the Casual Comfort stamp set. I heat embossed the image and sponged some Distress Oxide ink around it. I then cut out the panel, die cut the window with Penny Black's Stitched Circles die and stamped the sentiment before adhering the panel onto cardbase.

The Flower Challenge #37

It's time for the October challenge at The Flower Challenge and this time we're asking you to make a CAS card - a clean and simple floral card. We're sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays Stamps who are very generously giving our winner a prize of $25 to spend in the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps online store. We also have a Guest Designer, the fabulously talented Tina Magnusson, joining us this month.

For my DT card, I used the Casual Comfort stamp set. I stamped the images on the upper part of the card, heat embossed them in white and then sponged some Distress Oxide ink in Tattered Rose on the panel. The sentiment comes from the same stamp set, I stamped it with Memento ink in Toffee Crunch. Lastly, I matted the panel onto brown cardstock and then onto my cardbase.

The Flower Challenge #36: Reminder - Muistutus

We're midway through our September challenge at The Flower Challenge with the theme of Anything Goes. This month we're sponsored by My Favorite Things who will kindly give our winners (yes, we'll have TWO winners!) a gift card of USD 25 each. As a Guest Designer, we have the incredibly talented Michele Ferguson.

I used the pretty Wildflowers set by MFT for my card. I stamped and die cut the images before colouring them with my Copic markers. I then cut my panel and die cut the openings to it as well as to a piece of craft foam that I adhered behind the panel. After I had adhered the panel to the card base, I adhered the flower and the leaf to their places with some liquid glue. Lastly, I heat embossed my sentiment from the Geometric Greenery set and adhered the sentiment strip in place.

The Flower Challenge #36

It's time for a new challenge at The Flower Challenge and this month it's an easy one - Anything Goes! Yes, two winners and each will get USD 25 gift card for MFT - how fab is that!? As our Guest Designer we have the funny and very talented Michele Ferguson.

For my DT card, I used the gorgeous Fresh-Cut Flowers Background by MFT, it's such a beautiful floral image. I heat embossed it in white and watercoloured the image. I then sponged some Distress Oxide ink in Antique Linen to the edges of the panel before die cutting and adhering the frame (it's die cut with MFT's Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge Frame). I stamped my sentiment on the panel, it says 'Congrats'. I folded my card base out of pink card stock and stamped it with Typewriter Text Background stamp (although you can barely see it from behind the panel..) before adhering the panel to it. Lastly, I finished my card with a few clear sequins.

We're midway through our August challenge at The Flower Challenge and the theme for August is 'Use Your Favourite Flower'. We're sponsored by Clearly Besotted who will kindly give our winner a gift certificate of 20 GBP! Our Guest Designer is the very talented Therese Calvird.

I love peonies and chose to use Peonies in Bloom set by Mama Elephant. I watercoloured the peonies and die cut them out. I added some gold splatters with my watercolour brush and Sheer Shimmer Spritz to my card base before arranging the flowers and the leaves. Lastly, I stamped my sentiment ('Congratulating You').

It's time for a new challenge at The Flower Challenge and in August we'd like to see you use your favourite flowers on your cards. We are sponsored by Clearly Besotted who are giving our winner an e-gift card worth 20 GBP! As our Guest Designer we have the fabulous Therese Calvird.

I have to say I love pretty much every flower there is but if I had to choose one favourite, it would be gerbera daisies. Such gorgeous, happy flowers! I don't have any gerbera daisy stamps, so I decided to use Sending Sunshine stamp by our sponsor, Clearly Besotted. I know these flowers are sunflowers but let's just pretend they are gerbera daisies now... I coloured the flowers with my Copics  (I know the centers of gerbera daisies are different, not yellow, but that went so beyond my talents I just made them yellow..) and stamped my sentiment - it's Finnish for Happy Birthday. I then matted the panel onto pink cardstock before adhering it onto my card base. No embellishments here as I thought the flowers were enough on their own.

Itse pidän aika lailla kaikista kukista, mutta jos lemppari pitää valita, niin gerbera on sellainen. Kuinka ollakaan, minulla ei ole gerbera-leimaa, joten päätin käyttää tätä Sending Sunshine -leimaa Clearly Besottedilta. Auringonkukkiahan nämä oikeasti ovat mutta leikitään, että ovat nyt gerberoita... Väritin kukat Copiceilla (oikeasti gerberoiden keskusta on erilainen, mutta väritin ne nyt keltaisiksi, koska taitoni eivät veny oikeiden gerberan keskustojen värittämiseen..) ja leimasin tekstileiman. Paneelin kerrostin pinkille kartongille ja kiinnitin korttipohjaan. Mitään koristeita en korttiin laittanut, kukat riittävät.

It's reminder time at The Flower Challenge as we are mid-way through July already. This time we're asking you to use "Pretty Pastels" in your floral creations and we have a prize for the winner - Uniko is kindly giving away a stamp set to our lucky winner! As a guest designer, we have the fabulous Michelle Lupton.

For my card, I used the stamp Beautiful Friend by Clearly Besotted, I coloured it with my Copics and die cut it using the matching die. For the background I sponged some Distress Oxide ink and lastly, I stamped my sentiment (it's in Finnish and means 'Congratulations').

The sweet Bev from Uniko is offering our lucky winner a stamp set of their choice, how fab is that! As a Guest Designer, we have the talented Michelle Lupton joining us this month.

For my DT card, I used a stamp from the gorgeous Pure Florals: Peony set by Uniko. I coloured it with my Copics and fussy cut it out. For the background, I masked the bottom of the card and sponged Distress Oxide ink very lightly to the top section of my card base after which I stamped my sentiment (it's in Finnish and I find it difficult to translate, maybe (Wishing you) Happiness and Joy is the closest translation). I adhered the flower with foam adhesives and embellished the card with some clear sequins.

Heinäkuu tarkoittaa uutta haastetta The Flower Challengessä ja tällä kertaa teemana on pastellivärit. Voittajalle on luvassa leimasetti Unikolta! Guest Designerina meillä on mahtava Michelle Lupton.

Omaan korttiini käytin Unikon ihanaa Pure Florals: Peony -setin pionia, jonka väritin Copiceilla ja leikkasin irti. Taustan maskasin ja mustetin Distress Oxide -musteella, minkä jälkeen leimasin tekstileiman. Kukan kiinnitin tarrapaloilla koholle ja kortin koristelin paljeteilla.

The Flower Challenge #33: Reminder - Muistutus

It's reminder time at The Flower Challenge. In June we're focusing on background stamping so get creating those backgrounds with floral images! We have the wonderful Deepti Malek as our guest designer and she is giving away one of the stamp sets she's designed to our lucky winner, how lovely is that?!

For my DT card, I chose to use Best Buds set by Paper Smooches. I stamped the background with one of the tiny flowers and decided to leave it uncoloured. For my main image, I chose the floral banner from the same set and coloured it with my Copics. I attached the panel onto dark grey cardstock and adhered the main image on it, adding a bit of gold twine behind it. Quick and easy! :)

Omaan korttiini käytin Paper Smoochesin Best Buds -settiä. Leimasin taustan pienellä kukkaleimalla ja päätin käyttää kukkabanneria "pääosassa". Taustan jätin värittämättä mutta kukkabannerin väritin Copiceilla. Kiinnitin kaiken paikoilleen ja lisäsin kultanarua bannerin taakse.

The Flower Challenge #33

We have a new challenge starting over at The Flower Challenge and this time we're focusing on background stamping. And there's a prize to be won too! Deepti Malik, who is our fabulous Guest Designer, will be giving one of her floral stamp sets for the winner.

For my DT card, I used a stamp from Altenew's Golden Garden set which I stamped randomly on white cardstock with Memento Toffee Crunch ink. I then die cut the panel with Penny Black's Swirly Stitches die and also die cut the sentiment with a Winnie & Walter die and adhered it to place. I matted the panel onto darker brown cardstock before adhering it to card base.

The Flower Challengessä alkaa uusi haaste ja nyt keskitymme taustan leimaamiseen. Voittajalle on luvassa palkinto, sillä guest designerimme Deepti Malik antaa voittajalle leimasetin. 

Omaan korttiini käytin leimaa Altenew'n Golden Garden -setistä. Leimasin sillä sinne tänne valkoiselle kartongille ja stanssasin sitten paneelin Penny Blackin Swirly Stitches -setin stanssilla. Tekstin stanssasin Winnie & Walterin stanssilla ja kiinnitin paikoilleen. Paneelin kiinnitin tummemman ruskealla kartongille ja sitten korttipohjaan.

The Flower Challenge #32: Reminder - Muistutus

We are midway through our challenge for the month of May over at The Flower Challenge and I'm here to remind you that you still have time to join in, please do! We are sponsored by the lovely Altenew who have kindly promised a stamp set for our winner - now that's worth playing for, right!? The challenge is to use embossing (either heat or dry) on your floral card.

For my card I chose to use the set Bamboo Rose by Altenew. I heat embossed the flowers with white embossing powder before colouring them with my Altenew watercolours. I also heat embossed my sentiment (it says 'Congrats' in Finnish) on a strip of light grey cardstock. I die cut the panel with a Penny Black die from the set Stitched Stackers and adhered it onto my card base before adhering the sentiment strip and the flowers onto it. I embellished my card with clear sequins.

Paneelin stanssasin Penny Blackin Stitched Stackers -setin stanssilla ja kiinnitin korttipohjaan, minkä jälkeen kiinnitin tekstisuikaleen ja kukat paikoilleen. Koristeina käytin paljetteja.

The Flower Challenge #32

It's time for the May challenge over at The Flower Challenge and this time we're asking you to emboss! Heat embossing, dry embossing - it's up to you, just please remember to use a floral image on your card. And this time we have a prize for the winner! Altenew has kindly agreed to give our winner a stamp set, hop over to The Flower Challenge blog to see it.

So for my card I used Wallpaper Art set by Altenew. I heat embossed the flower and the leaves in gold, coloured them with Altenew watercolours and die cut them with the matching dies. For the white-on-white background I die cut a rectangle, adhered it to card base, and die cut a thin frame with Altenew's Fine Frames Rectangles die and adhered it to the panel. I stamped my sentiment ('Congrats' in Finnish) with Delicata gold ink and adhered my leaves and flower (the flower is adhered with foam adhesives for a bit of extra interest).

Here's a photo of the card at an angle so you can see that the embossing is actually gold (it's very tricky to photograph golden embossing...).
