Guest Designing at Seize the Birthday

I have the pleasure of being Surprise Party Guest at the current Seize the Birthday challenge. Thank you so much for having me, ladies! The theme is Anything Goes (as long as it is a birthday card) but if you really want to get your creative juices flowing, you can follow the optional theme - or Topping - which is Off the Edge.

I thought it would be nice to have a larger word die to go 'off the edge' of the card so I used the Love Letters die by Penny Black and cut it out of glittery teal coloured cardstock. I then coloured the cute little kitten from the stamp set Cuteness with my Copics and placed it 'off the edge' of the letter V. For the background I used a stencil from the stencil set Background Basics and ink blended some yellow Distress Oxide inks on my panel which I then adhered on my card base. I also used a sentiment from the mini stamp set Pawsome Present as secondary sentiment. Lastly, I embellished the card with some gems.

Please do visit the Seize the Birthday challenge blog to see all the wonderful inspiration provided by the DT and don't forget to join in on the fun!

Penny Black products used:

* Love Letters (51-803)

* Cuteness (31-035)

* Background Basics stencil set (25-021)

Flower Family

I fell in love with these floral dies the minute I saw them! They are so pretty, dainty and quirky all at the same time. They are new dies from the latest Penny Black release 'Shining Wings' and they are called Flower Family.

I die cut the flowers (there are four dies in the set but I only used three here) and coloured them by ink blending some Distress Oxide inks on them (Saltwater Taffy and Abandoned Coral on the flowers, Bundled Sage on the stems). I then used Berry Basket die to die cut the pot and the leaves (the leaves are actually branches of a tree) and coloured them with Distress Oxide inks as well (Bundled Sage for the leaves and Brushed Corduroy on the edges of the pot die cut out of grey cardstock). I then used All-in-One Oval die to die cut the elements of the background and after adhering them on my cardbase, I adhered the flowers in their pot and stamped a sentiment from the new sentiment set Brighten the World on the panel. Lastly, I embellished the flowers with some half pearls.

I'm entering this to:

* Just Add Ink: Challenge #698 - Choose Two: Leaves - Flowers - Pots (I actually have all three but since there is only one pot, I'm going to go with Leaves and Flowers)

* The Paper Players: PP686 - Clean and Simple Challenge: Spring Flowers

* Flower Family (51-819)

* Berry Basket (51-796)

* All-in-One Oval (51-815)

* Brighten the World (31-056)

Brushstroke florals

I made cards with a couple of Penny Black's brushstroke stamps.

The first card features the gorgeous Sweetly Scented stamp. I coloured onto the stamp with Karin markers and stamped it onto watercolour paper before spritzing the stamp with some water and stamping again. I also did a bit of ink blending with Distress Oxide inks in Antique Linen and  Bundled Sage before splattering the panel with the same inks dilluted in water. I added a bit of twine, popped the panel on some foam adhesives and adhered onto a background die cut with All-in-One Oval die.

The second stamp I used is called Idyllic. I used my Karin markers to colour onto the stamp this time, too, but instead of spritzing the stamp with water, I used a damp waterolour brush to blend the stamped colour. I then used a stencil from the stencil set Background Basics and ink blended some Distress Oxide ink on the panel before stamping the sentiment from Note Builder sentiment set.

Products by Penny Black, available in their online shop:

* Sweetly Scented (40-933)

* All-in-One Oval (51-815)

* Idyllic  (40-932)

* Note Builder (31-046)

Birdhouse Beauty

I made this card with a new stamp from Penny Black called Birdhouse Beauty. I coloured the image with my Copics and ink blended some Distress Oxide inks in Antique Linen and Brushed Cordyroy on the edges of the panel. The sentiment comes from the new sentiment set Note Builder. After having stamped the sentiment, I covered it with a piece of scrap paper and splattered some gold ink spray on the panel. For the background I used the new All-in-One Oval die.

I'm entering this to:

* Stamping Sensations: April - Anything Goes

* Note Builder (31-046)

Fun Day

I had a bit of time to colour today so I made a simple card with simple Copic colouring on this cute stamp by Penny Black called Fun Day. After having coloured the image, I added some white gel pen accents on the image before ink blending some Distress Oxide ink in Broken China around the panel. I also stamped a sentiment from the sentiment set Not Older, Better on the panel. I then used the biggest frame in the Frame It die set to die cut the frame. I adhered everything in place and embellished the card with some enamel dots.

* Fun Day (31-043)

* Not Older, Better (30-896)

* Frame It (51-814)

Guest Designing at Time Out Challenges

I am so happy to Guest Design for Time Out Challenges in the current challenge. Thank you so much for having me! The theme for challenge #261 is Inspired by Words: "I'm a romantic! I live for long, dreamy walks down the craft aisle." The lucky winner of this challenge gets $25 store credit to DoodlebugsWA.

I took my inspiration from the words "long, dreamy walks". Unfortunately, I don't have a craft shop in my area so I cannot take long, dreamy walks down the craft aisle so the next best thing would be long, dreamy walks in nature - preferably with green leaves on trees (no green leaves at the moment for me though, we still have snow in my area).

For my card, I used a stamp by Penny Black called Arbors and coloured the stamp with Karin markers, misted the stamp with water and stamped it onto watercolour paper. After I was happy with my result, I die cut the top of the panel with Penny Black's Note Edger die as well as a piece of dark green cardstock to get the word 'note'. The rest of the sentiment comes from Note Builder stamp set. I then used an embossing folder by Penny Black called Filigree to dry emboss a piece of cardstock that I had ink blended with Distress Oxide ink in Peeled Paint. After dry embossing it, I also lightly applied Distress Oxide ink in Rustic Wilderness to highlight the embossed parts. Lastly, I assembled the card adding a bit of craft foam behind the stamped panel so that it is raised from the embossed background.

Please do pop by Time Out Challenges to see all the wonderful inspiration provided by the talented Design Team and to take part in the challenge.

Penny Black products used:

* Arbors (40-747)

* Note Edger (51-812)

* Note Builder (31-046)

* Filigree (65-010)

All-in-One Oval

I made a couple of cards using one of Penny Black's newest dies called All-in-One Oval. This is such a fun die and makes cardmaking really quick.

This first card was probably the quickest card I've ever made. I had the cute little hedgie already coloured and fussy cut on  my desk. I stamped the hello onto the balloon using a part of a sentiment from the Note Builder sentiment set. Then I simply die cut the All-in-One Oval twice, once out of cream coloured cardstock and once out of light blue cardstock, assembled the pieces with the hedgie peeking out of the oval, stamped the rest of the sentiment on the panel using a sentiment from the Hello Builder sentiment set and matted the whole panel onto a piece of light blue cardstock. And the card was done!

For the second card, I used the same All-in-One Oval die but this time with a couple of flowers from the Country Charisma stamp set. I coloured the flowers with my Copics and used the matching die, Country Charisma Cut Out, to die cut them. The sentiment is from Love & Light sentiment set. After assembling the card, I embellished it with some white half pearls.

Products by Penny Black, available in their online shop:

* All-in-One Oval (51-815)

* Affectionate (31-034)

* Note Builder (31-046)

* Hello Builder (30-976)

Butterflies

I tried something new today, namely layering stencils! These were so much fun to use, easy too I might add. These stencils are by Penny Black and called Aerial, they have a matching die as well called Aerial Cut Out.

The first card is a shaker card. I did a bit of ink blending with Distress Oxide inks and the stencils on a piece of cardstock before using the matching die to die cut the card panel and a piece of craft foam. I then adhered the card panel, some acetate and the die cut piece of craft foam, added some sequins and adhered the butterfly part. The sentiment comes from the sentiment set Snippets, I heat embossed it in white on a strip of dark green cardstock and adhered it in place.

I'm entering this to:

* AAA Birthday - Shaker

* Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Happy Birthday!

For the second card, I used Distress Oxide inks again with the stencils before die cutting the butterfly. I also die cut the butterfly from pink cardstock and adhered it to my butterfly. For the background, I used the new Penny Black die All-in-One Oval, added a piece of vellum behind the oval opening and adhered the panel onto a piece of dark blue cardstock. The sentiment comes from the sentiment set Love & Light. I embellished the card with some white half pearls.

Here's a look at the butterfly with the pink wings showing from underneath the butterfly.

New Day

I really love a good floral stamp and Penny Black has some of the best floral stamps there are. Like this one, called New Day, such a beautiful image and so lovely to colour.

I really wanted to let the image shine so I decided to make a one-layer card with it. I coloured the image with my Copics and did the background using a stencil from the stencil set Background Basics and some Distress Oxide ink in Antique Linen. The sentiment comes from the sentiment set Carefree Wishes.

Sending You Love

I had so much fun creating this die cut card! I rarely make cards with basically no stamping or colouring but sometimes it's fun to try something a bit different.

For the word 'love' I used Penny Black's Love Letters die. I die cut it twice so I could cut it in half before I did a bit of ink blending with Distress Oxide inks in Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber and Squeezed Lemon. For the rest of the sentiment, I used a stamp from the Penny Black sentiment set Love Sentiments and used only a part of a sentiment which I heat embossed in white on a strip of dark grey cardstock. For the background, I did a bit of tone on tone stamping and used a background stamp from Penny Black called Contemporary, stamping with Distress Oxide ink in Peacock Feathers on a dark teal cardstock. I die cut the frame using a new die from Penny Black called Frame It, I did a bit of ink blending on it with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink. The flower is one of my favourite floral dies by Penny Black and comes from the set called Petals. I die cut it simply from coloured cardstock and embellished it with one white enamel dot.

Meander

I made a get well card with some new products by Penny Black. This beauty of a stamp is called Meander and I stamped it partially on my card panel before colouring it with my Copics. I then used a stencil from the stencil set Background Basics and inked a rectangle on the panel with Distress Oxide ink in Antique Linen. The large word 'note' is die cut with the new Note Edger die (here without the edger part) and I completed the sentiment by stamping sentiments from the set Note Builder.

PBSC - March

We're half way through March (already..) and it's time for mid-month reminder at Penny Black Saturday Challenge. As always, the theme is Anything Goes with the optional theme being Easter.

I chose to follow the Anything Goes theme and created a very CAS card with a new stamp from the recent Penny Black release called Share Your Love. This stamp comes from a set of two called Growing Love. I stamped the image a little off the panel and coloured it with my Karin markers. I then used a stencil from the stencil set Background Basics and sponged some Distress Oxide ink in Old Paper on the panel through the stencil. The sentiment I used is from the new sentiment set Love & Light.

Please do pop by the PBSC blog to enjoy all the inspiration from the DT.

Sending Love

I think this little girl is the sweetest ever so I simply had to make another card with her (see the first one here). She is a new stamp by Penny Black called Love's Embrace.

Again, I coloured her with my Karin markers. I wanted to keep the card very simple so I used a stencil from the stencil set Background Basics and inked a rectangle on the card panel with Distress Oxide inks in Old Paper and Antique Linen. I added some flowers that are die cut with Playful Posies die and a sentiment from the new sentiment set Love & Light.

Love's Embrace

This sweet little girl is a new stamp called Love's Embrace from the recent Penny Black release Share Your Love. I love how she is illustrated, there is something so sweet and free about her!

I coloured her with my Karin markers on a panel die cut with a die from the Border Collection set. I inked the edges of the panel lightly with Old Paper Distress Oxide ink. I inked the upper part showing from underneath the panel with Distress Oxide inks in Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch before stamping on it with a stamp from the Footnotes set using Blueprint Sketch ink. The flower is die cut with Whisper die and inked with Salty Ocean ink. The sentiment I used is from the new Love & Light sentiment set. After attaching everything in place (I used a bit of craft foam behind the panel), I embellished the card with a single little dark blue button and some twine.

I chose the Anything Goes theme and created this birthday card with some new stamps from Penny Black. These cute bunnies are from the new stamp set Cuteness and they are so adorable. I stamped them onto my panel, masked them and did a bit of ink blending using a grid stencil from the Penny Black stencil set Background Basics and some Distress Oxide inks. After removing the masks, I coloured the images with my Copics adding touches of white gel pen here and there. The sentiment I used is from the sentiment set Delightful Day. Before adding some enamel dots, I matted the panel onto a piece of black cardstock and adhered it onto my card base.

Guest Designing at CAS on Friday

I have the pleasure of being the Guest Designer for the current challenge at CAS on Friday where the theme is Hello. Thank you so much for having me, ladies!

I went super CAS with my card and kept the elements at a minimum. I created the background with a stencil from the Penny Black stencil set Background Basics and did a bit of ink blending with Distress Oxide inks in Salvaged Patina and Uncharted Mariner before splattering some white watercolour paint onto the circle. I used an older Winnie and Walter die for the word, die cutting it from dark grey cardstock. The flower is die cut with a die from Simply Graphic. I adhered the die cuts in their places and matted the panel onto a piece of dark grey cardstock before embellishing the card with some black gems.

Please be sure to pop by the CAS on Friday blog to see the wonderful inspiration provided by the Design Team and don't forget to join in the challenge!

I coloured the image with my Copics and did the background using a stencil from the Penny Black stencil set Background Basics. I coloured the image with my Copics adding some accents with a white gel pen before die cutting the image with the matching die, Love Everywhere Cut Out. For the background, I used a circle stencil from the stencil set Background Basics and did some ink blending with Distress Oxide inks in Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet. The sentiment comes from the stamp set In the Air and the little hearts are die cut with Hearts Galore die. I matted my panel onto some pink cardstock before I attached everything in their places.

Painted Daisies

I loved colouring this gorgeous stamp by Pinkfresh Studio called Painted Daisies. Such a lovely stamp with lots to colour!

I did the colouring with my Copics before die cutting the image with the matching die. I wanted the flowers to be the main point of interest so I didn't add much else to the card. Just a dark blue background die cut with Hexagon Tiles Cover Plate and a sentiment heat embossed in white (the sentiment says 'On your birthday').

After all the Christmas cards, it's lovely to make floral cards. Here's one I made with You're the Best stamp set by Pinkfresh Studio.

I coloured the flowers with my Copics and die cut them with the matching dies. I created the background by very lightly sponging some Distress Oxide ink in Antique Linen to my card panel and splattering it with some gold ink. I also used a die by Penny Black called Soaring to create the blue swirly loops. After I had adhered it in its place, I stamped my sentiment and adhered the flowers with some foam adhesives.

PBSC January

It's the first month of a brand new year and time for a new challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge. The theme is, as always, Anything Goes with the optional theme this time being Something New.

I decided to go with the optional theme and my 'something new' is a new stamp. This gorgeous birch stamp is from the new stamp set by Penny Black called Scenic Layers. Before stamping the trees, I took some masking paper, tore it to create a snow bank and placed it on the bottom edge of my panel. I then stamped the trees in black ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. I stamped the trees again on a piece of masking paper, fussy cut the tree trunks and placed them in place. I then used a stencil from the Background Basics stencil set and sponged some Distress Oxide inks in Victorian Velvet, Antique Linen and Mermaid Lagoon on the panel. After removing the masking paper from the trees and the snow bank, I stamped a sentiment from the sentiment set When Snow Falls in its place. I then splattered the panel first with some water and then with white acrylic paint to create the snow. Lastly, I matted the panel onto some light blue cardstock.

* Scenic Layers (31-018)

* When Snow Falls (30-881)

* Background Basics stencil set (25-021)

I coloured the bird with my Copics again and stamped a sentiment from the sentiment set When Snow Falls. I then masked the stamped image and sponged some Distress Oxide inks in Broken China and Uncharted Mariner on the panel. I also splattered the panel with some white acrylic paint to create the falling snow. I die cut the frame twice using  Stitched Loops die, adhered the frames together and adhered them to my panel. Lastly, I adhered the panel with the frame onto my card base.

I'm entering this to:
