Our cutie had his birthday party yesterday (the actual birthday was earlier last week but the party itself was held yesterday) and the birthday boy was almost overwhelmed with everything that was going on, the guests and the gifts and everything :) We gave our gift to him on the actual day but somehow the card wasn't given until yesterday... The idea for this card came from the talented SannaS and her gorgeous peek-a-boo card, our son loves to peek-a-boo so this was the perfect card for him :) The paper I used for this is by October Afternoon (if my memory serves me right...) and the cardstocks are by ColorCore. The number and letters I die cut with a Tim Holtz die ('kukkuu' means 'peek-a-boo' in Finnish). I attached the yellow cardstock with some washi tape and it can be closed with a string I salvaged from an old bookmark, and a button.
Luukun sisältä paljastuu kaksi DoodleFactoryn norsua (poika rakastaa norsuja :) ), pieni tähti ja teksti FinnStamperin leimalla leimattuna. Kukkuu! :)
When you open the 'door', you'll see two elephants by DoodleFactory, a star brad and the sentiment (which means something like 'happiness/congrats and joy'). Peek-a-boo!!! :)

Rakkaalle 2-vuotiaalle - For a special 2-year-old
April hosts a very important birthday as our son, The Cutest Little Boy in the World, celebrates his 2nd birthday in late April!!! :) His greatgrandmother asked me to make a card that she could give to him and this is how it turned out (we haven't held his birthday party yet but I think I can blog his card anyway as I believe he won't be finding his way to my blog - or the computer for that matter - any time soon ;) ). I chose to use Henry the Celebrating Mouse by Whiff of Joy as my main image as our son is very keen on animals and I'm sure he'll love this cute little mouse. I coloured the stamped image with Distress Inks - I haven't done that in a while and I feel like my previously feeble talent has now become nonexistent... I coloured the little tag with DIs, too, stamped it with Hero Arts Envelope Pattern stamp and added the sentiment (which goes something like 'have a fabulously fun birthday'), I also changed the twine on the tag from white to green. I die cut the number with a Tim Holtz die and the stars with Spellbinders dies. The papers are by BasicGrey and Echo Park and as embellies there are an eyelet, a button and some Glossy Accents on the cupcake and the number.
Tagin saa siis leimakuvan taakse piiloon. / The tag can be hidden behind the stamped image.
Osallistun tällä seuraavaan haasteeseen / I'd like to submit this to the following challenge:
* Daring Cardmakers: Tag You're It! (sponsorina Tea House Bridge/sponsored by Tea House Bridge)

Synttärikettu - Fargo the fox
Onnea-tekstin leimailin Artemion aakkosilla.
This is the last of the three cards I made for my nephew on his 11th birthday. This was given to him by his 92-year-old greatgrandmother so it's a bit cuter than the other two cards (which you can see here and here) - somehow I don't think that greatgrandmothers and e.g. Stampotique stamps go together that well.... ;D The stamped image is Fargo the Fox by DoodleFactory, I coloured him with ProMarkers. The papers are by October Afternoon and the little flags I made of washi tape. I die cut the star with a Spellbinders die. The sentiment says 'congrats' and I stamped it with alphabet stamps by Artemio.
Osallistun kortilla seuraaviin haasteisiin / I'd like to submit my card to the following challenges:
* PaperPlay Challenges: Week 16 - Animal Antics
* Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge: #129 - Stripes or checks, you choose (Stripes! :) )
Sellaista tänään. Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit! Kivaa tiistaita! :)
That's all I have for you today. Thanks for your visit and for any comment you may wish to leave me. Have a happy Tuesday! :)

Twinkie
Here's another card I made for my nephew, this was given to him by his grandparents. I was wondering with this card if I can use a Stampotique stamp in a card meant for a child as Stampotiques are not exactly sweet images but then thought that perhaps an 11-year-old is "old enough" for these. And somehow Twinkie here looks cute to me :) I coloured Twinkie with ProMarkers. The papers I used are old (or should I say, 'vintage' ;) ) BasicGrey, I applied some Distress Ink through a Crafter's Workshop template to the green paper. I die cut the numbers with a Tim Holtz die, wrote the sentiment ('congrats') with a Dymo and added some washi tape as embellishment. I guess this card is quite simple, nothing too fussy about it, but I kind of like it anyway :)
Kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit! Mukavaa viikon alkua! :)

Poika olet tähti! - You're a Star!
Lisäksi vielä Holtzin Tiny Tabs and Tags -stanssilla tehty pieni tagi, jossa onnittelu. Tagin kiinnitin haaraniitillä.
In our family, spring is full of birthdays and the first to celebrate is the eldest of my nephews. His actual birthday was a few days ago but the birthday party is tomorrow, and this year I made him three cards in total, one from us, one for his grandparents to give to him, and one for his greatgrandmother to give to him. This card is from us. The birthday boy celebrates his 11th birthday and this time I tried to make his cards a bit more 'grown up', more suitable for a big boy - let's see if I succeeded.... (I always find it so hard to determine what kind of card is suitable for children of certain ages, I'm always afraid I make my cards either too childish or too grown up). The inspiration for this card came from the paper I used in the background, it's the '5 & Dime' series by October Afternoon. I die cut the stars with Spellbinders dies and the black cardstock behind it with a Memory Box die, I then placed a piece of red cardstock behind the black one so that it shows through the little holes. I die cut the tiny tag with a Tim Holtz die (Tiny Tabs and Tags) and stamped the sentiment, 'Congrats', on it and attached it with a black brad. I also splattered some black acrylic paint on the background paper and smeared it on the stars as well to give a bit of grungey feel. Tomorrow we'll see how the birthday boy likes it...
Osallistun kortilla seuraaviin haasteisiin / I'd like to submit my card to the following challenges:
* Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge #61 - Punches and Dies
* Crafts 4 Eternity #68 - Something New (the Memory Box die 'Bubble Dots')
* Whoopsi Daisy Challenge - Anything Goes

CAS perhosia - CAS butterflies
Tein tällaisen kortin taannoisen lahjontani mukaan. Yritin tehdä siitä mahdollisimman tyylikkään CAS-kortin, koska oletan lahjonnan voittajan pitävän CAS-tyylistä. Korttipohjan taittelin 4cc-kartongista (kiitos, SannaS! ;) ) ja leikkasin sen reunaan Memory Boxin Butterfly Delights -stanssilla rivin perhosia (yllättäen huomasin muuten, että tuo stanssi on yhden perhosen verran liian pitkä mahtumaan Cuttlebugin suusta sisään, eli sitä ei saa leikkaamaan suoraan tuohon kortin reunaan. Hieman harmittaa tämä....). Perhosten taustaksi laitoin pinkkiä kartonkia, josta leikkasin myös yhden ylimääräisen perhosen tekstin viereen. Tekstileima on Papertrey Inkin. Koristeeksi yksi helmi ja soon siinä! ;)
I made this card to go with my recent giveaway. I tried to make it as elegant and as CAS as I could because I imagine that the person who won my giveaway likes CAS cards. I folded the card blank from pure white cardstock and die cut the row of butterflies with a Memory Box die 'Butterfly Delights' (this is my newest die and I noticed when making this card that it can't fit through a Cuttlebug - the die is one butterfly too long to be placed straight along the edge of a 2-fold card! Dang it!). I placed some pink cardstock as the background for the butterflies and stamped the Papertrey Ink sentiment with black ink. I added one pink butterfly with a pearl body next to it. And that's it! :)

Halpoja askartelutuotteita - Cheap crafty materials
Nyt seuraa mainontapostausta.... Bongasin jenkkiläisen askartelutavaroita myyvän nettikaupan, Blitsyn, ystävän blogista ja ajattelin mainostaa sitä täälläkin :) Kyseessä on siis nettikauppa, joka myy tuotteita vain jäsenilleen ja aina ale-hinnoin, myytävänä olevat tuotteet vaihtuvat säännöllisin ajoin (uusia tarjouksia tulee kolme kertaa viikkoon). Tällä hetkellä myynnissä on mm. ;)
Thought I should mention a craft shop I found today through a friend's blog. The shop is called Blitsy and it sells crafty materials for very cheap prices but only to its members. The deals change at intervals so you need to hurry if you want to buy something. At the moment they're selling Golden Fluid acrylic paints and mediums, Ranger Inkssentials tools, ColorCore cardstock, 7Gypsies papers, VersaMagic inks, etc. for very good price. They even ship worldwide and the shipping costs are quite reasonable (if your order value is 25 US dollars or under, the shipping is 8,98 US dollars; if your order value is 25,01-50,00 US dollars, the shipping is 13,95, and so on). If you register via my link and order something, I'll get a small amount of money to be used in Blitsy, so thank you! :) (And if you as a member invite your friends and they place an order, you'll get a small amount of money!). Go check Blitsy out, it won't cost you anything! :)

If you don't like the colour pink, please don't look at the picture in this post - my art journal page is rather pink, I'd say! ;D The idea behind this page came to me as I was thinking about journaling in general: what 'should' be written on an art journal page and what shouldn't (or is there anything that you shouldn't write about), how should it be written (should you think that someone will/might read it too, should it be something that only you understand, should it be private at all), etc., and then I came to the question of language - what language should I use? Now that probably seems like a funny question for a native Finnish speaker but then again, it actually isn't. I do have a university degree in English language (although you probably would not guess it by the standard of my English - ha ha!) and for some reason I think in English when I craft (I think in English when I'm doing other stuff, too, but English really seems to be my 'crafting language' for some odd reason). I also associate art journaling with the English language. But in the end, what is the language I should art journal in?! Is it my native Finnish or is it my "crafty English"? I guess I didn't come to any kind of conclusion on that but at least I got a page out of it! Hee hee! A page written in both Finnish and English... ;D

Heinäinen onnittelu - Grassy greeting
Mainitsin muutama postaus sitten, että tein äidilleni jokusen onnittelukortin. No, tässä näytille loput niistä. Leimana käytin Hero Artsin mystisesti nimettyä Silhouette Grassia (voisin vaikka vannoa, että tuo on ennemmin ruis kuin heinä... ;) ), jonka embossasin kirkkaalla jauheella valkoiselle paperille.
I mentioned earlier that I made some birthday cards for my Mum. Well, these are the rest of them. The rubber stamp I used is Silhouette Grass by Hero Arts (although it looks more like rye to me than grass...), I heat embossed it with clear powder on white cardstock and added some Distress Inks to it. I stamped the sentiment on a little banner and added tiny little butterflies cut with a Martha Stewart punch. Oh, and I did stamp the brown cardstock on the first card with the Envelope Pattern stamp by Hero Arts but you can't really see it, can you?

Huhtikuu - April
Kuunvaihde tietää tietysti myös kalenterin sivun kääntämistä, joten tässäpä huhtikuun sivu. Kyse on taas tietysti Kate Cranen kalenterihaasteesta, lisätietoja löytyy Katen blogista. Alunperin en oikein tiennyt, mitä sivulle laittaisin, en saanut millään kiinni huhtikuusta vaikka kyseessä onkin varsin mukava kuukausi (mm. poikani syntymäkuukausi :) ). Lopulta rupesin vain laittamaan maalia sun muuta sivuun sen kummempia suunnittelematta ja jossain vaiheessa tajusin, että kevät itse asiassa tuntuu minusta juuri siltä, miltä tämä sivu näyttää - iloinen sekamelska kaikkea, hurjasti energiaa, värejä ja kaikkea kivaa :) Noiden tipujen inspiraationa toimi Cloth Paper Scissorsin tammi-helmikuun numerossa olleet 'word bird' -linnut.
First of the month brings a new page for the calendar challenge hosted by Kate Crane (please visit her blog for more information), this is my page for April. At first I wasn't sure what to put on my page, I didn't really get a feel of April although it is a great month (my son was born in April, for instance :) ). Then I just started adding paint on the page without really thinking, added layers and layers, and at some point I noticed that my page actually looks like how spring feels to me - a merry mess of everything buzzing with the sheer energy of life! :) So that's my theme for my April page. The little birdies were inspired by the word birds in the January/February issue of Cloth Paper Scissors.
Pelkkä tausta / The background on its own:

Voittaja - Winner
Hauskaa huhtikuun ensimmäistä!
Menen suoraan asiaan ilman sen kummempia aprillipiloja.
Pyöräytin nimittäin arpojaiset tuossa heti aamutuimaan ja
sain voittajan pienelle lahjonnalleni.
Näyttää siltä, että lahjontani menee ulkomaille....
tarkemmin sanottuna Ranskaan....
sillä voittaja on numero 12...
...joka on...

It's April 1st which means

but a winner for my little giveaway.
I used random.org to draw the winner this morning...
...and it seems that my little giveaway found its new home abroad...
...in France, to be exact...
as the winner is number 12...
..and that is you,
