1-vuotiaalle - For a 1-year-old

Taas tilauskorttia näytille, tällä kertaa kortti tarvittiin vuoden täyttävälle pojalle. Tein taas pari vaihtoehtoa, joista valita. Tässä ensimmäisessä leimakuvana on Whiff of Joyn Henry Celebrating Mouse, jonka  väritin Distress Markereilla ja jonka muffinssiin ja kynttilän liekkiin lisäsin hieman kirkasta Wink of Stellaa. Stanssasin leimakuvan ja mustetin reunoja. Tekstileima on You Do:n, leimattu vellumille ja stanssattu My Favorite Thingsin stanssilla. Lisänä stanssattu tähti ja muutama enamel dotsi. Paperi on Echo Parkia.

I have a commission card to show you again, this time I was asked to make a birthday card for a little boy turning one, and again I made a couple of cards from which to choose. The first card sports 'Henry Celebrating Mouse' by Whiff of Joy as its focal point. I coloured Henry with Distress Markers and added some clear Wink of Stella to the icing on his cup cake and the flame on the little candle. Then I die cut the image and inked the edges. The sentiment says 'For a 1-year-old' and it's stamped on vellum banner die cut with a My Favorite Things die. As embellishments there are some enamel dots and a die cut star. The patterned paper is by Echo Park.

Toiseen korttiin käytin tätä ihanaa The Artistic Stamperin Mabel Lucie Attwell -leimaa, jonka niinikään väritin Distress Markereilla. Stanssasin leimakuvan irti ja lisäsin siihen stanssatun ykkösen. Taustapaperi on October Afternoonia.

For the second card, I used this lovely Mabel Lucie Attwell/The Artistic Stamper stamp 'For You' which I coloured with Distress Markers. I die cut the image out and added a die cut number '1' to it, and attached the image with foam adhesives for a raised effect. The background paper is by October Afternoon.

Better once than never

Taas art journal -sivu. Osui nuo Shakespearen viisaat sanat silmään kirjasta, joten otin ja saksin ne talteen :) (järkyttyneille lohduksi: kirja on ihan askartelua varten kirpparilta ostettu, Williamin kootut istuu kirjahyllyssä saksien ulottumattomissa ;) ). Muuten sivu rakentui Twinkling H2O -vesiväreistä, akryylimaalista, washiteipistä, leimoista, musteista, glitteristä jne.

Another art journal page to share. I saw those wise words by Shakespeare in a book, took my scissors and cut the quote out to use in my page :) (no need to get upset though: the book I used is bought for crafting purposes from a flea market, my edition of William's complete works is safe and sound sitting on my book shelf ;) ). Other than the quote, there are some Twinkling H2O watercolours, acrylic paints, some washi tape, rubber stamping, inks, glitter, etc. on that page.

Tirppa ja tagi - A tag and a bird

Eräällä blogiystävällä on näillä paikkeilla marraskuuta synttärit ja lähetin hänelle sitä juhlistamaan kortin ja tämän tagin. Kortti oli  aika lailla kopio eräästä jo tekemästäni kortista, josta synttärisankari oli tykännyt mutta jota minulla ei enää ollut (siksi siis jouduin kopioimaan itseäni :D ), joten en siitä ottanut kuvaa. Menin tässä tagissa mixed media -linjalle, koska aavistelin ystäväisen siitä pitävän. Tähän meni taas aika lailla kaikenlaista gessosta Distress Staineihin, washiteipistä nappiin ja vellumkukista Enamel Accentsiin. Taustassa käytin sabluunoita ja leimasimia ja lintu on stanssattu Memory Boxin stanssilla ja kuorrutettu kohojauheella.

A bloggy friend of mine celebrates her birthday in November and to celebrate, I sent her a birthday card and this tag. For the card I copied myself ;) as my bloggy friend had liked a certain card I had made earlier but as I didn't have that particular card anymore, I was forced to copy myself - so no pictures of the card today as you've already basically seen it! I wanted to create a mixed media tag for this friend of mine as I thought she might like it, so I used the usual suspects for this: gesso, Distress Stains, washi tape, punched vellum flowers, white Enamel Accents, etc. I used a couple of stencil and some rubber stamping, too. The bird is die cut with a Memory Box die and heat embossed with embossing powder.

Tähtiä ja kuusikulmioita - Stars and hexagons

Ja taas olisi veljenpojan synttärien aika! :D Tällä kertaa kyseessä on miehen veljenpoika, joka täyttää tulevana viikonloppuna 14 vuotta. Tähän korttiin käytin paria sabluunaa: tähdet mustetin Distress Inkillä Timpan sabluunan läpi ja nuo kuusikulmiot leikkasin The Crafter's Workshopin sabluunan avulla. Keltaiseen kuusikulmioon embossasin valkoisella jauheella ja Hero Artsin leimalla nuo viivat ja turkoosiin kuusikulmioon leimasin The Artistic Stamperin leimalla pilkkuja. Onnea-tekstin leimasin tuohon My Favorite Thingsin stanssilla stanssattuun banneriin, jonka alla on vähän washiteippiä. Lisänä mustia paljetteja (kyllä, olin rohkea ja laitoin teinipojan korttiin paljetteja! Mustia sentään, mutta paljetteja silti! :D ) ja muutama Enamel Accents -tippa.

And once again it's time for a nephew's birthday! :D This time it's my hubby's nephew who turns 14 this weekend. I made this card using stencils: I applied some Distress Ink through a Tim Holtz stencil and cut the hexagons using The Crafter's Workshop stencil. I stamped with a Hero Arts stamp and heat embossed the lines on the yellow hexagon, and the dots on the teal hexagon I stamped with The Artistic Stamper stamp. The banner is diecut with a My Favorite Things die and the sentiment on it says 'Congrats'. In addition, there's some washi tape, some sequins (yes, sequins on a teenage boy's birthday card! Mad, I know, but at least they're black.. ;D ) and some white Enamel Accents drops.

Words

The Artistic Stamperin toukokuun haaste on 'words' ja tein siihen tämän art journal -sivun. Tähän meni taas vähän kaikkea, struktuuripastaa, akryylimaaleja, gessoa, spray inkejä, washiteippejä, leimoja (The Artistic Stamper, Zettiology), paljetteja jne. Tuo teksti on lainaus Englantilaisesta potilaasta.

The May challenge over at the Artistic Stamper blog is 'words' and I made this art journal page for it. Once again, I used a bit of everything to make this page: modeling paste, acrylic paints, gesso, spray inks, washi tapes, rubber stamps (The Artistic Stamper, Zettiology), sequins, etc. The journaling is a quote from Michael Ondaatje's 'The English Patient'.

She started to live in colour

En ole aikaisemmin koskaan osallistunut Simon Says Stamp and Show -haasteeseen mutta nyt satuin huomaamaan tämänviikkoisen haasteen, joka oli 'colour' ja sen verran värit kutkuttivat, että päätin osallistua. Tein haasteeseen tämän art journal -sivun, johon meni taas vähän kaikkea: gessoa, akryylimaaleja, spray inkejä, vanhan kirjan sivuja, washiteippiä, leimoja (Zettiology, The Artistic Stamper, Prima Marketing), Inktense-kyniä jne. Varsinainen sekasoppa siis mutta ainakin väriä löytyy! :)

This is my first time taking part in Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge. I happened to spot this week's challenge theme and was inspired by it so I made this art journal page. Once again, there's a bit of everything on this page: some gesso, acrylic paints, spray inks, some modeling paste, pages from an old book, some washi tapes, rubber stamps (by Zettiology, The Artistic Stamper, Prima Marketing), some Derwent Inktense pencil etc. You name it, it's there, basically, but at least the page has colours! ;)

Hidden

Taas vaihteeksi art journalia. Ja taas vaihteeksi SODAliciouksen haaste :) Tällä kertaa aiheena on 'hidden' ja alla näkemykseni siitä. Tein sivun vaakatasoon A5-kokoiseen journaliin ja käytin siihen aika lailla kaikkea: gessoa, harsokangasta, Distress Inkiä, akryylimaaleja, sabluunoita (Crafter's Workshop), washiteippiä, erinäisiä leimoja (mm. Zettiology, Wycinanka, The Artistic Stamper), Dylusions ink sprayta jne. Eli väkerretty on :)

Here's another art journal page, for another SODAlicious challenge :) The theme is 'hidden' and this is my take on it. The journal I used is A5 in size and the page is landscape in orientation. There's a bit of everything on this page: gesso, cheese cloth, Distress Ink, acrylic paints, stencils (The Crafter's Workshop), washi tape, rubber stamps (Zettiology, Wycinanka, The Artistic Stamper among others), Dylusions ink spray, etc. Hope you like it! :)

Lumihiutale - Snowflake

Ja palataas taas joulukortteihin... Tähän korttiin tein varsin blingbling lumihiutaleen liimaamalla ensin kartongille kaksipuolista superteippiä, stanssaamalla lumihiutaleen Cuttlebugin stanssilla ja sitten "uittamalla" hiutaletta irtohileessä. Sen jälkeen kävin vielä hiutaleen läpi taittotyökalulla, jotta glitteri varmasti tarttuisi kunnolla kiinni. Taustapaperin leimasin The Artistic Stamperin taustaleimalla, siniseen kartonkiin stanssasin osittaisen ympyrän, jonka "sisälle" sitten laitoin hiutaleen. Kiinnitin kartongin tarrapaloilla, jotta sain korttiin hieman kolmiulotteisuutta. Koristeena hieman leipurin nyöriä ja tekstileimana Stempelkellerin hiutale-teksti.

Here's a 'snowy' Christmas card for you. For this card, I made the snowflake by attaching a sheet of super tape onto a piece of cardstock, die cutting the snowflake with a Cuttlebug die and then pouring heaps of glitter onto the snowflake. I made sure the glitter stuck by 'sweeping' the snowflake with a bone folder. I wanted the snowflake to be the centre of attention so I cut a half circle out of the blue cardstock and attached the flake into the die cut circle. I attached the blue cardstock itself with foam pads to get a bit of 3D effect going. I stamped the background paper with a stamp by The Artistic Stamper. As embellie, there's a piece of baker's twine. The sentiment is in Finnish.

Joulukalenteri - Advent calendar

Maailman Suloisimmalla Pienellä Pojalla on tänä vuonna ensimmäistä kertaa joulukalenteri. Sellaistahan ei voi kaupasta ostaa (eihän?), joten tuunasin sitten tällaisen kalenteriksi. Tuo pahvilaatikosto on ostettu aikaa sitten Heinikasta, kaikki käytetyt paperit ovat Echo Parkin Holly Jolly Christmas -paperikosta ja koristeet ovat sarjaa 'sekalainen seurakunta'. Tuohon kalenteriin sitten tonttu tuo pienen lahjan joka päivälle... ;)

This year The Cutest Little Boy in the World (also known as our son :) ) has an advent calendar for the first time and I just couldn't buy one from a shop, could I? No, I made one myself :) I bought that little cardboard 'drawer' some time ago (last year? year before that?) with an advent calendar in mind, and now I just decorated it. All the papers I used are by Echo Park (the Holly Jolly Christmas series) and the embellies are 'a bit of this and a bit of that'. And as by magic, every night a little elf brings a little gift for our son and puts it in the calendar for him to find... ;)

Majavia, poikia ja herrasmiehiä - Beavers, boys, and gentlemen

Hmm, siitä taitaa olla jo pari viikkoa, kun ylipäätään postasin mitään ja vieläkin enemmän siitä, kun postasin jotain askarteluun liittyvää... Aika tuntuu hurjastelevan nyt siihen malliin, etten ehdi kuin kääntyä ja pari viikkoa katoaa (tai sitten alan vain todella h-i-d-a-s-t-u-a... ;D ). Jonkin verran olen ehtinyt askarrella, lähinnä "pakollisia" synttärikortteja ja vastaavia, mutta blogeissakaan en ole ehtinyt pahemmin kierrellä, joten jos en ole käynyt kommentoimassa, älä hermostu, kyl mää vielä joskus! ;) Viimeistään sitten, kun tuon ihan alusta asti aloitetun puutarhan saa jonkinlaiseen kuntoon... Vielä puuttuu nurmikkoa ja kasvia ja keinua mutta eiköhän se siitä pikkuhiljaa ;)

Well, I think it's been a couple of weeks since I posted anything here and even more since I posted anything crafty - oops! It seems that time is running so fast these days that I blink and two weeks are gone (either that or I'm getting just r-e-a-l-l-y s-l-o-w...;) ). I have managed to craft a bit, mainly some birthday cards and such that I had to make but I haven't really had time to blog hop either but hopefully I'll get there eventually. Perhaps when our garden (which we have started from scratch this year) is looking a bit better... It still needs a lawn (!), some plants and at least a swing set and a sandbox for our sweet boy, hopefully we'll get it all done soon.

Mutta asiaan. Läväytän nyt näytille kokonaista kolme korttia, kaikki tehty 9 vuotta täyttäneelle veljenpojalleni, yksi kortti on taas isoisoäidiltään, yksi isovanhemmiltaan ja yksi meiltä. Ensimmäiseen korttiin tein taustan embossaamalla Impression Obsessionin taustaleiman mustalla ja sutimalla Distress Stainia päälle. Ratasta "ruostutin" hieman DI:llä ja embossausjauheella ja leimakuvan (Kraftin' Kimmien hurmaava Chester) väritin niinikään DI:llä. Sitten vain tekstileimaa kehiin ja koristeiksi ruuveja ja filminauhaa.

I'll stop waffling now and show you three cards I made for my nephew who turned 9. His greatgrandmother gave him one of these cards, his grandparents gave one and we gave one, so that's why I made three ;) I made the background for this first one by heat embossing an Impression Obsession background stamp with black powder and applying some blue Distress Stain on top. I coloured the stamped image (the dashing Chester by Kraftin' Kimmie) with DIs, and 'rusted' the gear behind him with DIs and some embossing powder. The sentiment says (freely translated), 'To the smashing guy'. As embellies there are only a couple of screw brads and some Tim Holtz film strip ribbon.

Toisen kortin taustapaperiin lisäilin hieman DI:ä Crafter's Workshopin sapluunan läpi ja teippailin hieman "vauhtiviivoja". Poikaleima on Nina Åslundin, väritin sen ProMarkereilla ja lisäsin silmiin hieman glossya. Tähtileima on Artistic Stamperin ja tekstileima on Taitopuoti Paperinauhan setistä. Lisänä muutama pikkuniitti.

The background paper in this second card was a plain one so I decided to add some DI through a Crafter's Workshop stencil to it. I also added a few strips of washi tapes. The boy stamp is by Nina Åslund, I coloured it with ProMarkers and added some Glossy Accents to his eyes. The stars stamp is by Artistic Stamper and the sentiment says basically 'Congrats'. To finish the card off, I added some tiny staples to the corners.

Viimeisessä kortissa onkin sitten majava uikkareissa... :) Leimakuva on siis DoodleFactoryn Belvedere, ProMarkereilla väritetty ja uikkarit ja silmät glossytetty. Viirit on FinnStamperin leima, embossattu valkoisella. Tähdet on leikattu pienellä Fiskarsin leikkurilla ja numero 9 on washiteippipäällysteistä kartonkia, Holtzin stanssilla stanssattu. Tekstileima on niinikään Taitopuoti Paperinauhan setistä, pilkkupaperi Echo Parkia ja kartongin reunoissa valkoista crackle paintia (idea SannaS:ltä :) ). Lisänä vielä vähän washiteippiä.

The last card features a beaver in his swimming trunks... :) The stamped image is Belvedere by DoodleFactory, I coloured him with ProMarkers and added some Glossy Accents to his swimming trunks and eyes. The little flags are heat embossed with white embossing powder and 'attached' with brads, the stamp is by FinnStamper. The number 9 is die cut from cardboard covered with washi tape with a Tim Holtz die. As other embellies there are stars punched with a Fiskars punch and some dotty washi tape. The dotty paper is by Echo Park, I added some white Distress Crackle Paint to the edges of the cardboard square in the middle (idea came from SannaS).

Apua... - OMG!

Ystäväni täytti vuosia tuossa hetki sitten ja tein hänelle tällaisen kortin. Mikäs sen hauskempaa kuin hassuttaa toisen syntymäpäivästä (varsinkin kun itse on vanhempi.... ;) ). Kortti on melko yksinkertainen, siinä on hieman BasicGreyn ja Echo Parkin papereita, leimoina Zettiologya, Artistic Stamperia ja 7Gypsiesiä, dymotettua tekstiä ja washi-teippiä. Se vähäinen väritys, mitä leimakuvaan tarvittiin, tein vesiväreillä ja Inktense-kynillä. Lisänä vielä timantit ja kortti oli valmis.

My friend had her birthday a few days ago and this is the card I made her. It's quite simple (once again... ;) ), I just used some BasicGrey and Echo Park papers, stamps by Zettiology, The Artistic Stamper and 7Gypsies, some lovely washi tape and a few rhinestones. I added a little colouring to the stamped image with watercolours and Derwent Inktense pencils. I made the sentiment with a Dymo machine and freely translated it goes something like 'OMG, are ya getting old?!' - it's good to make a little joke about someone's birthday when you yourself are older than they are... hee hee! ;D

Sydämiä ja haleja - Hearts and hugs

...ja vaaleanpunaista väriä - hempeällä tuulella siis ollaan! :) Tätä korttia väkersin melkoisen kauan aikaa, en tiedä mikä siinä oikein vastusti, mutta lopputulokseen olen lopulta - yllättävää kyllä - melko tyytyväinen. Ainekset ovat aika simppelit: Artistic Stamperin Baroque Background valkoisella embossattuna, sydän stanssattu ja leimattu Hero Artsin kirjekuoriruudukolla, hieman piparkakkureunaa, helmiä ja tekstileimasin.

...and pink colour - are you feeling warm and fuzzy inside already? :) This card took me a long time to make, I moved things around, tried this and tried that and nothing seemed to work. Finally, however, it all somehow came together and now I actually quite like the end result. I heat embossed the Artistic Stamper's Baroque Background with white embossing powder, die cut the scalloped border and the heart, stamped the heart with Hero Arts Envelope Pattern, added some pearls and stamped the sentiment ('hugs'). Simples, eh? :)

Helmikuu - February

Taas on kuukauden ensimmäinen päivä ja sehän tarkoittaa uutta kalenterisivua! Kyseessä on siis Kate Cranen kalenterihaaste ja tällaisen sivun sain siihen aikaan tällä kertaa. Muuten olen tähän ihan tyytyväinen, mutta harmittaa nuo rattaat, jotka leimasin - hermoilin vasemman yläkulman tyhjää tilaa ja hätäpäissäni leimasin sinne rattaita. Nyt vain tuntuu, että ne eivät sovi sinne tai sivuun ylipäätään yhtään :/ Mutta antaa olla, en rupea niitä peittämäänkään. Kaiken kaikkiaan kuitenkin tykkään tästä sivusta enemmän kuin tammikuun sivustani, se ainakin on positiivista :) En muuten laita näytille tuota tammikuun sivua ihan täysin valmiina jokapäiväisine teksteineen - tässä eletään kuitenkin sen verran mielenkiintoista ja vaihtelevaa kotiäidin elämää! ;) Oli muuten yllättävän vaikeaa muistaa tuo "journalointi" joka päivälle, tuntui, että se kannattaisi tehdä joka ilta, että saa päivän fiiliksen kiinni mutta usein huomasin, että päivä ja parikin oli mennyt ilman, että olin sitä muistanut tehdä... :/ Sitten ei auttanut kuin ulkomuistista kirjata tapahtumia.

Well, it's the first of the month again and that means a new calendar page! I'm of course talking about Kate Crane's calendar challenge/366 challenge and here's my page. I'm otherwise actually quite happy about it but I just don't like the little gears I stamped on it at all - I was worried there was too much empty space on the top left hand corner and before I knew it I was stamping the gears in there. Now I'm not sure they suit the page at all :/ I'll leave them there anyway, won't try to cover them up. But all in all, I think I like my February page better than my January page - ha, improvement?! :) I'm sorry but I won't show you my completed January page with journalings and all - after all, my life is the highly exciting life of a stay-at-home-mum ;) so hope you understand! It was actually quite difficult to remember to journal every day, I noticed that I should journal the day every evening so that I can capture the feel of the day but several times I noticed that a day or two had passed without me remembering to write anything down at all :/ Then I just had to write down what I remembered that had happened.

Happy happy joy joy!

Tein tähdellisen CAS-kortin uusilla ihanilla tähtileimoillani ja sain idean laittaa tuon tähden kortin sisälle näkymään kannen aukosta, kun huomasin, että osa näistä Artistic Stamperin tähtileimoista menee yksiin Spellbindersin tähtistanssien kanssa (ja ihan totta, tein kortin tiistaina ja minkälainen kortti olikaan yksi mallikorteista eilisessä CAS-kurssipäivässä? Aukollinen kortti, jossa oli leimakuva kortin sisällä! Ha, kerrankin olen edellä aikaani! ;D ). Taitoin siis korttipohjan akvarellipaperista, stanssasin siihen tähden ja leimasin stanssattuun tähteen tähden (kuullostaa todella järkevältä... ;) ) Distressillä ja ennen leimaamista suihkin päälle perfect pearls -vettä. Kanteen stanssasin pienemmän tähden ja tein siitä kohollaan olevan liimaamalla päällekkäin monta stanssattua tähteä. Näin sen saa koholle korttipohjasta mutta tähden alla ei näy sivusta katsottaessa aukkoa ja tarrapaloja vaan siisti valkoinen reuna - kurssilla opittu kikka tämäkin! Tekstiksi leimasin - tavoistani poiketen... - PTI:n tekstin, kun niitä suomenkielisiä ei nyt ole.... *nurinaa nurinaa* Tuleeko muuten kellekään muulle mieleen tuosta happy happy joy joy:sta yksi parhaista piirrossarjoista ikinä, Ren & Stimpy? Se oli niin hyvä, saisi kyllä tulla uusintana!

I made a little star card for the CAS course with my new lovely star stamps. I got the idea to place the star inside the card when I noticed that some of these star stamps by The Artistic Stamper go together with the Spellbinders star dies (and honestly, I made this card on Tuesday and guess what kind of card was one of the model cards yesterday in the CAS course? A window card with the stamped image placed inside the card! So ha, at least once in my life I am ahead of my times! ;D ). Anyways, I folded the card from aquarelle paper, die cut the star and then stamped a star on the die cut with a Distress Ink and before stamping, I misted the rubber stamp with pearlized water. I placed the star on the inside of the card, added another star on the front which I made 3D by glueing several die cut stars on top of each other. You get the same effect with foam pads but this way, when you look at it from the side, you just see a clean white edge instead of a 'hole' and foam pads. That's one trick I learned on the course! I finished the card with the PTI sentiment - does it remind you of Ren & Stimpy, the cartoon? I LOVED that cartoon, it was the best ever!!

Talo - A house

Huomasin, että Craft Barnin blogissa on menossa järjestyksessä ensimmäinen art journal -haaste, joten pitäähän siihen osallistua. Haasteen aiheena on 'rakennukset' ja sen sai tulkita, miten haluaa. Aihe ei herättänyt minussa mitään henkilökohtaisia ahaa-elämyksiä, joten tutkailin netistä rakennuksiin tai taloihin liittyviä sitaatteja ja löysin sellaisen Ralph Waldo Emersonilta. Siitä kehittelin sitten tällaisen sivun (kooltaan muuten n. 14x14 cm), hieman enemmän ehkä hauskan ja söpöisen kuin erityisen taiteellisen mutta hyvä näinkin.

I noticed that there's an art journal challenge (the first of its kind, I might add) going on over at the Craft Barn blog with the theme of 'buildings'. I thought I'd go about this by searching the net for quotations regarding buildings or houses and came up with a quotation by Ralph Waldo Emerson. I thought it was nice so I made my page (which, by the way, is a square one, sized about 14x14 cm) around that. The page turned out quite cute and fun (rather that "seriously arty") but I guess that's fine, too.

Suloisista suloisin - A Cutie Patutie

Tämän vuoden toinen kortti tuleepi tässä! Käytin tähän ai-van ihanaa leimaa, Mabel Lucie Attwellin For You:ta. Tuo pieni poika on niiiin suloinen (ja muistuttaa jotenkin Maailman Suloisinta Pientä Poikaa :)  ). Leimakuvan väritin pitkästä aikaa vesiväreillä (Derwent), paperit ovat Cosmo Cricketin Odds&Endsiä, tekstileima Finnstamperilta, vihreässä paperissa käytetty leima The Artistic Stamperilta ja vanhat napit varastojen kätköistä (missä vaiheessa 'vanhasta' tulee 'vintagea'...? Nämä saattavat hyvinkin olla jo vintage-napit ;) ).

Another card made in 2012, I'm on a roll here...! The rubber stamp I used is called For You and it's by Mabel Lucie Attwell, isn't it just so stinkin' cute! The little boy is just a cutie patutie (and he reminds me of my son who is a cutie patutie as well :) ). I coloured him with Derwent watercolours. The papers I used are Odds&Ends by Cosmo Cricket, the rubber stamp I used on the green paper is by The Artistic Stamper, the old buttons are from my stash (at which point does 'old' turn into 'vintage'? These buttons might just be vintage already ;) ) and the sentiment says 'joy and happiness' (or 'congrats and happiness', depending on how you see it).

Aivotonta art journalingia - Mindless art journaling ;)

Olen osallistunut Nathalie Kalbachin järjestämään Creative Jump Start Summit 2012:een ja kolmen päivän jälkeen voin sanoa, että kyseessä on aivan huima jump start! Tosin olisin voinut sanoa sen jo ensimmäisen päivän videon katsottuani, niin monta klik-klik-klikiä kuului aivoistani (ja ei, ne eivät - toivottavasti! - olleet putoilevia ruuveja! ;D ). Askarrellessani mietinmietinmietin, mittaan millintarkkuudella, harmistun kun jotain menee vähän vinoon ja vielä jälkeenpäinkin harmittelen, kun tuli tehtyä noin eikä näin, joten kun näin Dina Wakleyn (minulle hurjan) tavan lämmitellä ennen askartelua, oli kuin taivas olisi räjähtänyt ja pari salamaa lentänyt. Sain niin monta ahaa-elämystä tuosta tekemisen rentoudesta, että toivon niiden säilyvän mukanani askartelussa. Päätin koittaa laittaa opitun testiin ja tehdä sivun ajattelematta sen kummemmin, mitä teen, koittaa, saanko tavoitettua tuota tekemisen rentoutta ja kuinka ollakaan, se onnistui! Etukäteen valitsin vain värit, joita käytän (pinkki, keltainen, oranssi, valkoinen ja musta), sen jälkeen aloin levittää maalia, suihkia musteita, käyttää sabluunaa, leimata ja levittää - sen kummempia miettimättä. Sivusta tuli omasta mielestäni hyvä, tykkään siitä itse kovasti ja mielestäni se näyttää rennommalta kuin esimerkiksi kalenterisivuni. Tästä lähtien pitäisi siis koittaa muistaa laittaa aivot narikkaan ennen kuin istuu askartelupöydän ääreen! :D Kuvassa on muuten sivun "pohja", lisäsin siihen vielä jälkeenpäin tekstiä mutta en viitsi sitä näyttää (mietin muutenkin, miten kuvata/näyttää näitä sivuja, en pakosta halua näyttää tekstejä (ainakaan aina) mutta silti olisi kiva näyttää täällä edes joitakin art journal -sivuja. Ehkä tämä on se tapa...?).

I've taken part in the Creative Jump Start Summit 2012 hosted by Nathalie Kalbach and after three days I can say it's well worth taking part in! Actually, I could have said that after watching the video on day 1, so many things in that video just clicked with me, it was amazing. I'm usually the type of crafter who over-thinks everything, measures things with a ruler, gets worried if things are a little wonky or out of place and even worries afterwards about how things should have been done, so to see Dina Wakley's amazing way to 'warm up' before getting crafty was just like a revelation to me. I just got so many "a-ha" moments from that video... hope I can hold on to them in future crafting! So anyways, I decided to try a more relaxed way of doing an art journal page and this page is what I came up with. First I decided on the colours I was going to use (pink, yellow, orange, white and black) and then I switched off my brain and just let go! I smeared the paint, I sprayed the ink, I used a stencil, I rubberstamped like a woman possessed - and I rather like the end result! :) This page is so much more relaxed and vibrant than e.g. my calendar page and at least to me, this looks better. I truly hope something of that freedom and relaxed attitude will stick with me... Oh, and this is not the finished journal page, I added some journaling on it, but don't want to show that to you - sorry! I have been pondering about how to show these pages to you, I don't want to show my journaling (at least not every time) but I would like to show some of the pages I make, so maybe this might be the best way, to show the almost finished page?
