Jotain ihan muuta - Mail Art

Ihana Kissinia järjesti tuossa kesällä hauskan leikin, Mail Art Exchange Gamen. Tarkoitus oli koristella kirjekuori tavalla tai toisella ja lähettää se ja saada vastalahjaksi koristeltu kuori - mail art:ia siis. Tällaisen kuoren lähetin itse Kissinialle. Maskasin siihen tuon paneelin post-it-lapuilla ja värjäsin Distress Inkeillä ja sitten leimasin kukkasia Hero Artsin leimoilla A Real Long-Stemmed Wildflower ja A Real Wild Poppy.

The lovely Kissinia hosted a fun game during the summer, a Mail Art Exchange Game. The meaning was to decorate an envelope and send it and then get a decorated envelope in the post in return - that's mail art in short. This is the envelope I sent to Kissinia. I masked the panel with post-it notes and added some Distress Inks to it and then stamped the flowers with the Hero Arts stamps A Real Long-Stemmed Wildflower ja A Real Wild Poppy.

Kuoren mukana lähetin tällaisen kortin. Kohokuvioin tuon pinkin kartongin Cuttlebugin kohokuviointitaskulla, leikkasin irti sydämen ja asetin kortin sisään palasen vanhaa kirjan sivua, johon olin ensin leimannut Hero Artsin shadow stampilla neliön ja siihen päälle FinnStamperin leimalla talon. Kanteen lisäsin tuon new home -bannerin ja pienen linnun.

This is the card I sent with the envelope. I dry embossed the pink cardstock with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, cut out the heart and attached a piece of old book page on the inside of the card, stamped it with a Hero Arts shadow stamp and on top of that, I stamped a house with a FinnStamper stamp. Then I just added the tiny birdie and the banner on the card.

Ihana Kim Dellow pyysi minua vaihtamaan 'mail artia' kanssaan ja tällaisen kuoren lähetin hänelle. Tein tuon auringon stanssatun ympyrän negatiivilla ja Distress Inkeillä ja leimasin heinät (joita edelleen pidän enemmänkin rukiina kuin heinänä.... ;) ) Hero Artsin leimalla Silhouette Grass.

The lovely Kim Dellow also asked me to exchange some mail art with her and this is the envelope I sent to her. I created the sun with the negative of a circle die cut and some Distress Inks and then stamped the grass (which to me looks like rye.... ;) ) with the Hero Arts' stamp Silhouette Grass and some brown Archival Ink.

Kuoressa lähetin tällaisen pienen tagin. Taustaksi sudin hieman gessoa, sitten leimasin kukat Archival Inkeillä ja tekstin Papertrey Inkin aakkosleimoilla. Lisäksi laitoin tagiin hieman washi-teippiä, juuttinarua ja muutaman timantin.

This is the tag I sent with the envelope to Kim. I brushed some gesso on a kraft tag, stamped the flowers with Archival Inks and the text with Papertrey Ink's alphabet stamps. As embellies there's some washi tape, some jute twine and a few rhinestones.

Täytyy myöntää, että hieman jännitti lähettää mitään näille naisille, sen verran taitavia ovat molemmat. Pientä rimakauhua siis oli koettavissa... Toivottavasti molemmat kuitenkin pitivät kuoristaan :) Mutta sellaista tällä kertaa. Kiitos, kun kävit katsomassa ja kiitos, jos kommentoit. Mukavaa tiistaita! :)

Washilla CAS:ia - CAS with washi tapes

Yksinkertainen linja jatkuu edelleen (mikä lie karu kausi nyt on menossa..?! ;) )! Ja jos nyt omasta kortista voi sanoa näin, niin jostain syystä tykkään tästä erityisesti, jokin tässä miellyttää silmää. Idea tähän lähti ihan vain halusta käyttää washi-teippiä kortissa. Otin siis toisiinsa sopivia teippejä (nämä ovat Teippitarhasta), BasicGreyn Manila-sarjan paperin, hieman kartonkia, Papertrey Inkin stanssilla stanssatun 'sydänpallon' ja pienen haaraniitin ja kasasin kortin niistä. Jotenkin kortti vielä rakentuikin melkein itsestään, eli vähällä vaivalla tuli nyt itseä miellyttävä lopputulos - kiva joskus näinkin! ;D

I'm continuing with my simple CAS style in cards (for some reason I'm unable to add lots of frills to cards these days, what on earth is happening...? ;) ). And if I can say so, for some reason I really like this card, there's something about it that pleases my eye so much. The idea for this card came from my simple desire to use some gorgeous washi tapes in a card. So I took some washi tapes (these are bought from Teippitarha), some paper from the Manila series by BasicGrey, some brown carstock, a circle with a heart die cut with a Papertrey Ink die and a little brad and just put the card together. Oh, and that's another funny thing about this card - it just came about very easily without me having to ponder too much about it. This really is a mininum effort card! ;)

Kukkia ystävälle - Flowers for a friend

A Passion for Papertrey -blogissa on menossa haaste, jossa pyydetään tekemään ystävyysaiheinen kortti. No, minäpä työtä käskettyä ja kaivoin esiin Papertrey Inkin Blooming Button Bits -setin. Leimasin nuo kukanvarret HA:n Shadow Inkillä paperille, jonka olin stanssannut PTI:n Mat Stack 3 -stanssilla, alareunaan leimasin vielä tuon FinnStamperin tekstin niinikään Shadow Inkillä. Kukinnoiksi laitoin ihanat vanhat napit. Paperit tässä on October Afternoonia ja koristeina vain pari miniklemmaria ja tuollaista leveää juuttinarua.

A Passion for Papertrey blog is hosting a challenge where they're asking you to make a friendship card, and this is what I came up with. I used the Papertrey Ink Blooming Button Bits set of stamps and stamped the flower stems with Hero Art Shadow Inks on cardstock that I had die cut with PTI's Mat Stack 3 die. I stamped the sentiment ('For a friend') with Shadow Ink as well. As flower heads I used some gorgeous old buttons. The papers I used are by October Afternoon and as embellies there are a couple of mini paper clips and some wide jute ribbon.

Lehtiä - Leaves

P*skarteluhaasteessa haluttiin tällä kertaa nähdä lehtiä tai oksia, joten täältä tulee :) Eipä tässä nyt mitenkään erityisen innovatiivista lehvästön käyttöä ole, mutta löytyy niitä lehtiä kuitenkin. Kukat tähän on leimattu ja stanssattu Papertrey Inkin Beautiful Blooms II:lla, lehdet taas Turning a New Leaf -setin leimoilla ja stansseilla. Musteet on Hero Artsin Shadow Inkejä. Tuo keskellä oleva paperi on stanssattu Tim Holtzin stanssilla, päälle on leimattu Hero Artsin Envelope Patternilla ja HA:n Shadow Inkillä, reunat käyty läpi Distress Inkillä. Päälle sitten epämääräinen joukko timantteja. Taustan kartonki on kuvioitu PTI:n impression platella.

The challenge over at the Finnish challenge blog P*skarteluhaaste wants to see leaves or branches in your projects this week, here's my offering. I die cut and stamped the flowers with Papertrey Ink's Beautiful Blooms II stamps and dies, and the leaves with PTI's Turning a New Leaf stamps and dies. The inks I used are Hero Arts' Shadow Inks. I die cut the paper in the middle with a Tim Holtz die, stamped it with Hero Arts' Envelope Pattern stamp and inked the edges with Distress Ink. As embellies I added a bunch of rhinestones. I ran the green cardstock through my Cuttlebug with a PTI impression plate.

Yksinkertaista - Simple

Tällä kertaa olisi näytille pari hyvinkin yksinkertaista korttia. Taittelin näihin korttipohjat kraft-kartongista ja ensimmäiseen korttiin leimasin Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtzin Definitions-leiman valkoisella StazOnilla ja sen päälle Hero Artsin A Real Flower Drooping -leiman ruskealla Archival Inkillä. Lisäksi laitoin vain ruskea-valkoista leipurin nyöriä.

This time I have a couple of very simple cards to show you. For the first one, I stamped the Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz stamp 'Definitions' with white StazOn ink on kraft card blank, and then, on top of it, I stamped the Hero Arts' stamp 'A Real Flower Drooping' with brown Archival Ink. Then I added a piece of baker's twine as the only embellishment.

Seuraavan kortin tein samalla periaattella mutta tässä leimasin tuon Definitionsin ruskealla Archival Inkillä ja sen päälle embossasin tuon kukkaleiman valkoisella jauheella.

The next card is pretty much the same, but here I just stamped the 'Definitions' stamp with brown Archival Ink and then heat embossed the stamp 'A Real Flower Drooping' with white embossing powder.

Yksivuotiaalle - To a 1-year-old

Kortit tänne blogiin eivät todellakaan tule missään aikajärjestyksessä, sillä tämäkin kortti on mennyt saajalleen jo syyskuussa. Tuolloin oli pojan kaverilla 1-vuotissynttärit, jota juhlistimme tällaisella kortilla. Ajattelin tehdä kortista mahdollisimman selkeän ilman turhia härpäkkeitä ja vielä kirkkailla perusväreillä, ehkä se niin on parhaiten 1-vuotiaan mieleen? Toivottavasti :) Tuon kirahvi-leiman valmistajaa en valitettavasti tiedä, mutta leimakuvan väritin ProMarkereilla, leikkasin irti ja kiinnitin 3D-tarroilla. Taustan kartonkiin leimasin raitoja Hero Artsin Large Canvas Stripesilla ja tekstin Taitopuoti Paperinauhan setistä olevalla leimalla. Koristeena hieman tähteä, nappia ja pari eyelettia ja koko komeus kiinnitetty ensin toiseen kartonkiin ja sitten korttipohjaan.

There's no real order in which I show you my cards, at least no timely order as, for example, this card was sent to the recipient already in September. Better late than never though, right? ;) A friend of our son's celebrated his first birthday in September and this is the card we sent him. I thought it best to make the card simple without too many embellies, etc., and to make it in bold basic colours - maybe that's how 1-year-olds like their cards? Hopefully :) Anyways, I coloured the stamped image with ProMarkers, cut it out and attached it to the background with foam pads. I stamped the stripes to the blue cardstock with Hero Arts' Large Canvas Stripes and added a star, a button and a couple of eyelets as embellies. Then I mounted the whole thing to another piece of cardstock before attaching it to the card blank. The sentiment says something like 'sunny congrats to the birthday boy' (freely translated ;) ).

Poikavauvalle - Daisy Bear for a baby boy

Minua pyydettiin tekemään kortti poikavauvalle. Toiveena oli tyylikäs kortti (vaalean)vihreän sävyissä, ilman tekstileimaa ja tällä Forever Friendsin Daisy Bear -leimalla - näillä koordinaateilla syntyi sitten tällainen kortti. Leimasin Daisyn Papertrey Inkin Mat Stack 3 -stansseilla stanssattuun paperiin ja väritin Distress Inkeillä. Sydämet stanssasin vaaleansinisestä huovasta PTI:n Heart Border -stanssilla ja sen alla olevan vihreän kartongin kuvioin niinikään PTI:n impression platella. Paperi on October Afternoonia.

I was asked to make a card for a newborn baby boy. The special wishes for the card were 'stylish', in (pale) green colour, without any stamped sentiments, and with this Daisy Bear stamp by Forever Friends. I followed the wishes quite closely and came up with this card. I stamped Daisy on paper that I had die cut with Papertrey Ink Mat Stack 3 dies and coloured her with Distress Inks. I die cut the hearts out of felt with PTI's Heart Border die and placed it on some green cardstock that I had run through my Cuttlebug with PTI's impression plate. The patterned paper is by October Afternoon.

Koristelin tällä kertaa myös kortin sisäosan, jonne laitoin samaa paperia ja kartonkia kuin kanteenkin ja koristeeksi vielä tuota sydänboordia.


I decided to decorate the inside of the card as well with the same patterned paper and cardstock that I used on the front of the card. I also added the felt heart border as embellie.
