Hurraa!!! - Hooray!!!

I watched the royal wedding in Britain on TV yesterday (as I'm sure did a few besides me...) and I loved every minute! The bride was so beautiful in her amazing dress, the groom was ever so dashing and every little detail of the wedding was just gorgeous (yes, the little royalist in me was screaming with joy and the part of me which just loves princesses, princes and fairytales was screaming even more ;) ). However, I might be a bit biased but a party of a little more importance was held at our house some time ago: we celebrated the first birthday of our son!!! Hooray, the Most Wonderful Little Boy In The World (yes, that's his name ;) ) turned one!!! :) Can't believe how quickly the year has passed... It's wonderful but at the same time a bit bittersweet to realise that I no longer have a baby, I have a toddler...

Meidän juhliin juhlaväki kutsuttiin paikalle ihan oikealla kutsulla (kuten varmasti niihin eilisiinkin juhliin... ;) ), jonka taittelin valkoisesta Bazzillin kartongista (kutsu aukeaa ylöspäin).

I made the invitation (which opens upwards) from white Bazzill cardstock. I used a giraffe stamp I got yonks ago but whose manufacturer I don't know and coloured it with Distress Inks. I then raised the giraffe with 3D foam pads. The number one I cut out of green cardstock and embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.

For his birthday card I made my very first spinner card and used Beebo of DoodleFactory as the image (I thought I'd let the babyhood just spin away ;) ). I coloured Beebo with ProMarkers and attached a number one to his hand. I made the number by cutting it out of blue cardstock and then I drew a line on its edges with a blue ProMarker to get some depth, then I just added quite a bit of Glossy Accents on top of it. The papers I used are by October Afternoon and as embellies I just used some ribbon and a button.

Hauskaa vappua! :)

That's all for today. It was so nice to have you come by my blog, please leave a comment so I know you visited me! Have a wonderful May Day tomorrow (if you celebrate it)! :)

EDIT: Ohje spinneriin löytyi täältä / You can find a great spinner card tutorial here.

Saniaismainen kiitos - A ferny thanks

Tekstileima on FinnStamperin. - ihania! ;)

I was asked to make a thank you card so I made a few to choose from, this is the first of the three I made. The person wanting the card asked it to be "for grown up's taste", i.e. no buttons or such so this is what I came up with. I embossed the fern (Hero Arts Silhouette Fern - love it!) with white embossing powder, stamped the background with Hero Arts Envelope Pattern stamp (love it!) and smeared some inks on it. I then added just the scrapper's floss as embellie and attached the whole thing on brown cardstock and then to the card blank. The sentiment says 'Thank you'. The card turned out to be quite simple and maybe even a bit masculine (?) but I somehow like it because I just really like the Hero Art stamps I used ;)

Mutta eipä tämän kummempia tälle päivälle. Kiitos, kun kävit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit! Mukavaa pääsiäisen jälkeistä eloa ja oloa! :)

That's all for today. Thanks for your visit and for any comments you may wish to leave me! Have a happy Tuesday! :)

;) Leimakuva on Whiff of Joyn Citrus tree Distresseillä väritettynä.

It's nice and sunny and warm outside and what do we do? Stay indoors! Blah, both our son and I have a flu :| Not nice at all... At least while he was taking a nap I had time to make a card :) The sunny weather probably played a role in determining the colours for this card... ;) The stamped image is Whiff of Joy's Citrus tree coloured with Distress Inks. The paper I've used is by BasicGrey and I added a beautiful yellow ribbon and a baker's twine type of ribbon as embellies. I also added a little butterfly to the bow and I secured it with a glue dot and a couple of stitches which I then covered with a couple of rhinestones. I didn't add a sentiment but will do that when I know where and when I need the card.

Tämän kortin myötä hyvää pääsiäistä ja aurinkoisia päiviä sinulle!

Thanks for your visit, have a nice Easter! :)

Perfect 10*

Näyttää siltä, että kevät on vihdoinkin tullut: lumi on sulanut hurjaa vauhtia, joesta on jäät lähteneet (satuttiin poikaisen kanssa olemaan joen varrella kävelyllä juuri, kun ottivat ja lähtivät :) ), on näkynyt joutsenauroja, lokkeja, perhosia ja pihan poikki on juossut kesäasuinen lumikkokin ja, mikä mahtavinta, tennarit on saanut ottaa käyttöön! Huisaa!!

The spring's here, hooray! Snow's melting like mad, the river is free of ice, we've seen swans, seagulls, butterflies and a weasel in his summer fur running through our backgarden and, what's best, I've been wearing sneakers again (that's a sure sign of spring! :) )! Hooray for spring! :) In our family, spring is a time for several birthdays and the first to celebrate is my eldest nephew who turned 10 this spring. I made two cards for him, one for us to give and one for his grandma to give to him.

For the first card I cut a couple of stars with Spellbinders dies and also cut the number 10 out of cardstock to which I added some Distress Inks and water. I raised the stars and the number with 3D foam pads. The background is made of ColorCore cardstock (as are the stars).

The second card features Pogue of the DoodleFactory and I think that his facial expression mimics quite well mine when I realised that my nephew actually is already 10 years of age... ;) I coloured Pogue with ProMarkers as I did the speech bubble which I hand drew. I cut the star out of some kraft cardstock with a Spellbinders die and embossed it and highlighted the embossing with some Distress Ink. The numbers and the punctuation marks are stickers by BasicGrey and Pink Paislee, the papers are by October Afternoon. As embellies there are some tiny staples and some stitches.

Kuten näkyy, Pogue on innokas hoitoaineen käyttäjä ;)
As you can see, Pogue swears by his trusty hair conditioner ;)

Kiva, kun kävit ja kiitos, jos kommentoit! Aurinkoista ja ihanaa kevätpäivää sinulle! :)

Thanks for your visit and for any comment you may wish to leave me! Have a sunny spring day! :)

Keltaista - Yellow

It's cloudy and overcast here today so I thought I'd offer you some colour therapy! This is quite simple and basic card but at least it's happy and yellow :) The sentiment is by Stempelkeller in Germany and goes something like 'Smile is the shortest distance between two people'. The flower is from the Gem Stone Flowers set by Inkadinkado, stamped with yellow Versamagic and cut out with a craft knife. I raised the ovals and the flowers with 3D foam pads from the October Afternoon paper and I also inked the edges of the paper with some DI. As embellies I used some lace and pearls.

Mukavaa maanantaita! :)

Thanks for your visit and for any comment you may wish to leave me! Have a happy Monday! :)

Kurkottelua - Reaching out

Takaisin vanhoihin kortteihin... Ystävänpäiväksi tein tällaisen melko simppelin kortin (taas kerran... ;) ). Leimakuvana on Leanne Ellisin/Sugar Nellien Choose, väritetty DI:llä. ;)

I made this card for Valentine's day so I'm back to posting the 'made yonks ago' cards :) This is once again quite (too?) simple, the stamped image is called Choose by Leanne Ellis for Sugar Nellie, coloured with Distress Inks. I applied some glitter glue to the little hearts and some Rock Candy Stickles to the flowers in the image. As embellies there are just some flowers and leaves punched out of cardstock with some rhinestones as flower centres. The background paper is by BasicGrey, if my memory serves me right. So, once again: simple, simple, simple....

I'll keep this short and sweet so thanks for your visit and for any comment you may wish to leave me (they are greatly appreciated!). Hope the rest of your week's great! :)

Inspiroituneita kukkia - Flowers and inspiration

I promised that I wouldn't post any new cards before I've got all the old ones posted here on the blog-o but here I am, eating my words... :) I was so inspired by the talented Kissinia and especially by the gorgeous flower on this card that I had to make my own version of it (thanks for the inspiration, Kissinia! :) ). I coloured the flowers and the butterfly with Distress Inks and applied some Glossy Accents on them (with a brush on the flowers so that I'd only get thin layer and straight from the bottle to the butterfly so that its wings are a bit more plump). I stamped the background with a stamp from the Inkadinkado set Circles and Dots and some Distress Ink. I left sentiment out for now, I'll add it later when I know where I need the card. I originally intended to submit this card to the Finnish challenge blog P*skarteluhaaste (the challenge this week is a bingo where you can choose your own colours, I chose red-yellow-blue) but I'm not sure I can submit this: first of all, there's quite a lot of white in it and secondly, because the inspiration quite clearly came from someone else, so I'm not sure if these rule me out...

Kukat ja perhoinen siis kiiltävät /As you can see, the flowers and the butterfly have a nice shine to them:

It was so nice of you to visit my blog and thanks for any comment you may wish to leave me! It's rainy and grey over here but I hope your day is full of sunshine and laughter! :)
