Ylioppilaalle - For the graduate

Itse en tänä(kään) vuonna ylioppilaskorttia tarvitse, mutta tällä kertaa minulta sellainen tilattiin. Korttiin sain muuten melko vapaat kädet mutta väritoiveena oli vaaleanpunainen-ruskea-yhdistelmä. Kukkakorttejahan ylioppilaille melko usein annetaan, joten sellaista lähdin tekemään mutta yritin tehdä kortista hieman modernimpaa, ei ihan perinteistä punainen ruussu -korttia. Taustan leimasin Hero Artsin Aged Background -leimalla, johon laitoin Distress Inkejä ja vettä suihkauksen, pari perään ja sitten kerrostin kartongille ja kiinnitin korttipohjaan tarrapaloilla. Kukat stanssasin Memory Boxin stanssilla, kiinnitin pohjaan ja lisäsin muutaman timantin. Lisäksi vielä tekstileima. Yksinkertainen, mutta toivottavasti tilaajan ja erityisesti saajan mieleen.

I was asked to make a card to congratulate a graduate and while I got quite free reign as to what kind of a card to make, the preferred colour combination was pink with brown. I stamped the background with Hero Arts Aged Background stamp and some Distress Inks misted with water, mounted it on some brown cardstock and attached it to the card base with foam adhesives. I die cut the flowers with a Memory Box die and added some rhinestones for a bit of sparkle. The sentiment says 'for the graduate'. It's quite simple, I suppose, but I hope the person who receives it, likes it.

Onnea ylioppilaalle! - For the graduate

Mieheni veljen perheessä juhlitaan tänään ylioppilasta ja tällaisen kortin tein tilaisuutta varten. Ajattelin jättää väritettävät leimakuvat unholaan tällä kertaa ja yrittää tehdä tyylikkään ja miehelle sopivan kortin embossaamalla. Tuo Hero Artsin leima on siis embossattu valkoisella samoin kuin tuo tekstileima, kartongit on kerrostettu päällekkäin ja koristeeksi vain kolme helmeä - yksinkertaista mutta ei silti kovinkaan helppoa ainakaan tällä kertaa, embossausjauhe oli nimittäin melkoisen sähköistä eikä sillä meinannut saada edes jotenkuten siistiä jälkeä vaikka mitä olisi tehnyt. Mutta tällainen siitä sitten tuli. Koska tässä on tuota tyhjää tilaa jonkin verran, osallistun tällä P*skarteluhaasteeseen, jossa sitä tyhjää tilaa toivottiin.

There is a graduation party today in my hubby's brother's family and this is the card the graduate is going to receive from us. As I wanted to make my card as elegant as possible and suitable for a male, I decided to forget stamped images and colouring and opt for heat embossing. So I heat embossed the Hero Arts' Three Ferns with white embossing powder and did the same for the sentiment (which says 'for the graduate'). I then matted the cardstocks and added the three pearls as the only embellies. I have to say, I had a hard time with the embossing powder as it was so static it was pretty much flying all over the place no matter what I did (and yes, I did use an anti-static bag and all but it didn't do its job that well...). But this is what I ended up with. And as this card has some white space (albeit it is green...), I'm entering it to the current challenge with the theme of 'white space' over at P*skarteluhaaste.

Ylioppilaille - For secondary school graduates

Kevään ylioppilaat ovat jo tulleet, menneet ja juhlineet, joten tämä postaus tullee tavallaan hieman jäljessä. Tänä keväänä tein vain pari yo-korttia, nekin taas tutulla simppelillä linjalla. Tähän ensimmäiseen käytin ihanaa Hero Artsin Poppy Background -leimaa (unikot on ihania!), jonka embossasin kartongille valkoisella. Sitten sudin päälle Distress Inkiä (Fired Brick) ja liimasin leimakuvan ruskealle kartongille. Taustapaperi on BasicGreytä, koristeena vain satiininauhaa. Tekstileima on Merjan ja Pammun setistä.

Secondary school graduates have already graduated this spring so I'm a bit late in posting the graduation cards which I only made two this spring. For this first card I used the lovely Poppy Background rubber stamp by Hero Arts (I just love poppies!), I heat embossed it with white powder and then added some Distress Ink (Fired Brick) to it. The background paper is by BasicGrey and as embellie there's just some satin ribbon. The sentiment says 'To a secondary school graduate'.

Hero Artsilla meni tämä toinenkin yo-kortti, tämä on Engraved Flower. Embossasin sen mustalla jauheella liilalle BasicGrey-paperille ja leikkasin ääriviivoja myöten pois. Taustapaperi on myös BasicGreyn, sen "helman" leikkasin Marthan leikkurilla. Koristeina yksinkertaista valkoista nauhaa, ProMarkerilla vihreäksi väritetyt, alunperin hopeiset ääriviivatarrakulmat ja pari puolihelmeä. Tekstileima sama kuin edellisessä.

I used a Hero Arts stamp for the second card as well, this is Engraved Flower which I heat embossed with black powder on some purple BasicGrey paper and cut out. The background paper is by BasicGrey as well, I used a Martha Stewart punch to cut its "hem". As embellies there's just some white ribbon and a couple of pearls. The corners are stickers, they were originally silver but I coloured them with a green ProMarker. The sentiment's the same than in the previous card.
