Kesäkuu - June

Kesäkuuta mennään jo hurjaa vauhtia ja vasta nyt sain kalenterisivuni valmiiksi. Jotenkin se kuukauden vaihtuminen pääsee aina yllättämään.... ;) No, kysehän on kuitenkin Kate Cranen kalenterihaasteesta ja mukana ollaan, edelleen. En tiedä, oliko tälle(kään) sivulle sen kummempaa lähtöideaa kuin nuo keltaiset pallukat - olimme nimittäin toissapäivänä kävelyllä ja tuntui, että joka paikassa oli aivan mielettömän paljon ihania keltaisia voikukkia (niin, joidenkin mielestä roskakukkia, minun mielestäni kauniita...) ja halusin mahduttaa ne sivuuni jotenkin. Tätä sivua tehdessä minulla soi päässä koko ajan The Doorsin Love Street, joten ehkä se on sitten vaikuttanut sivuun muuten, mene ja tiedä :)

June seems to be racing by fast and I've only just finished my June page - oops! How come the turn of the month always comes so unexpectedly... ;) Well anyway, this is my June page for the calendar challenge hosted by the lovely Kate Crane. I don't know if I had any great idea for this page, except dandelions :) We went for a walk the other day and there were the gorgeous yellow faces of dandelions everywhere and I wanted to capture those somehow, hence the yellow circles for journaling. While I was making this page, I had 'Love Street' by The Doors playing in my head all the time, so maybe that influenced my page, too :)

Toukokuu - May

Toukokuun sivuni Kate Cranen kalenterihaasteeseen on tässä, mutta en ole erityisemmin tyytyväinen siihen. En oikeastaan edes tiedä, onko se valmis - tuntuu kuin siitä puuttuisi jotain mutta en tiedä, mitä. Mietin jo, tekisinkö koko sivun uusiksi mutta päätin antaa olla, tällä mennään. Arvaatko muuten minä päivänä toukokuussa on meidän hääpäivämme?! ;D

This is my May page for the calendar challenge hosted by the lovely Kate Crane and I have to say, I'm not terribly pleased with it (the page, that is ;) ). I'm not even sure if it's finished, it looks like it needs something but I just don't know what. I even thought about re-doing the whole page but decided against it, I'll go with this one. By the way, can you guess when our wedding anniversary is?! ;D

Huhtikuu - April

Kuunvaihde tietää tietysti  myös kalenterin sivun kääntämistä, joten tässäpä huhtikuun sivu. Kyse on taas tietysti Kate Cranen kalenterihaasteesta, lisätietoja löytyy Katen blogista. Alunperin en oikein tiennyt, mitä sivulle laittaisin, en saanut millään kiinni huhtikuusta vaikka kyseessä onkin varsin mukava kuukausi (mm. poikani syntymäkuukausi :) ). Lopulta rupesin vain laittamaan maalia sun muuta sivuun sen kummempia suunnittelematta ja jossain vaiheessa tajusin, että kevät itse asiassa tuntuu minusta juuri siltä, miltä tämä sivu näyttää - iloinen sekamelska kaikkea, hurjasti energiaa, värejä ja kaikkea kivaa :) Noiden tipujen inspiraationa toimi Cloth Paper Scissorsin tammi-helmikuun numerossa olleet 'word bird' -linnut.

First of the month brings a new page for the calendar challenge hosted by Kate Crane (please visit her blog for more information), this is my page for April. At first I wasn't sure what to put on my page, I didn't really get a feel of April although it is a great month (my son was born in April, for instance :) ). Then I just started adding paint on the page without really thinking, added layers and layers, and at some point I noticed that my page actually looks like how spring feels to me - a merry mess of everything buzzing with the sheer energy of life! :) So that's my theme for my April page. The little birdies were inspired by the word birds in the January/February issue of Cloth Paper Scissors.

Maaliskuu - March

Ensimmäinen päivä maaliskuuta tarkoittaa tietenkin taas kalenterisivua! Kyseessähän on siis Kate Cranen kalenterihaaste, tarkempia tietoja löytyy Katen blogista. Tein sivustani mahdollisimman energisen, tässä vaiheessa vuotta kun tuntuu aina usko loppuvan siihen, että se kevät sieltä koskaan tulisi (tästä lisää postauksen lopussa...), paljon siis keltaista, punaista ja oranssia. Ja pikkulintuja ja mekkoja - tule jo, kevät, tule! :)

It's the first of March and that means a new page for my calendar! I'm of course talking about Kate Crane's lovely Calendar Challenge, for more info on that please visit Kate's blog. I wanted to make my page as energetic and happy as I could because during this time of the year I'm always almost giving up on hope of ever seeing spring at all (more about this at the end of my post...), so I used lots of yellow, red and orange. And a few little birdies and a cute dress - please spring, come already! :)

Niin, ja siitä keväästä... Mitä luulet, tuleeko kevät koskaan vai hukutaanko sitä ennen lumeen? Otin kuvan meidän terassin kaiteesta, jonka päällä on lunta yli 30 cm!!! (Mittana kuvassa näkyy askarteluviivoittimeni, joka on 30 cm pitkä). Kyllä minun puolestani saisi jo kevät tulla ja lumi sulaa pois, pois, pois!

I know the 1st of March is considered to be the first day of spring so I thought I'd show you what the first day of spring looks like over here in Finland. I took this picture at our backyard, it's the railing on our terrace and there's over 30 centimetres (over 12 inches) of snow on top of it! (That is my craft ruler you see against the snow and it is 30 centimetres/12 inches). I think there's even more snow on the ground... So no green grass and no spring flowers - bohoo! I'm so ready for spring to come (although I'm worried we might be buried in snow before it does... ;D ) and all this snow to melt away!

Helmikuu - February

Taas on kuukauden ensimmäinen päivä ja sehän tarkoittaa uutta kalenterisivua! Kyseessä on siis Kate Cranen kalenterihaaste ja tällaisen sivun sain siihen aikaan tällä kertaa. Muuten olen tähän ihan tyytyväinen, mutta harmittaa nuo rattaat, jotka leimasin - hermoilin vasemman yläkulman tyhjää tilaa ja hätäpäissäni leimasin sinne rattaita. Nyt vain tuntuu, että ne eivät sovi sinne tai sivuun ylipäätään yhtään :/ Mutta antaa olla, en rupea niitä peittämäänkään. Kaiken kaikkiaan kuitenkin tykkään tästä sivusta enemmän kuin tammikuun sivustani, se ainakin on positiivista :) En muuten laita näytille tuota tammikuun sivua ihan täysin valmiina jokapäiväisine teksteineen - tässä eletään kuitenkin sen verran mielenkiintoista ja vaihtelevaa kotiäidin elämää! ;) Oli muuten yllättävän vaikeaa muistaa tuo "journalointi" joka päivälle, tuntui, että se kannattaisi tehdä joka ilta, että saa päivän fiiliksen kiinni mutta usein huomasin, että päivä ja parikin oli mennyt ilman, että olin sitä muistanut tehdä... :/ Sitten ei auttanut kuin ulkomuistista kirjata tapahtumia.

Well, it's the first of the month again and that means a new calendar page! I'm of course talking about Kate Crane's calendar challenge/366 challenge and here's my page. I'm otherwise actually quite happy about it but I just don't like the little gears I stamped on it at all - I was worried there was too much empty space on the top left hand corner and before I knew it I was stamping the gears in there. Now I'm not sure they suit the page at all :/ I'll leave them there anyway, won't try to cover them up. But all in all, I think I like my February page better than my January page - ha, improvement?! :) I'm sorry but I won't show you my completed January page with journalings and all - after all, my life is the highly exciting life of a stay-at-home-mum ;) so hope you understand! It was actually quite difficult to remember to journal every day, I noticed that I should journal the day every evening so that I can capture the feel of the day but several times I noticed that a day or two had passed without me remembering to write anything down at all :/ Then I just had to write down what I remembered that had happened.

Jotain ihan uutta - Something completely new

Aloitan uuden vuoden heti uusilla asioilla.... Olen jo pitkään ihaillut muiden blogeissa näkemiäni art journal -sivuja mutta jotenkin olen arastellut itse kokeilla moista (tuntuu, että en ole tarpeeksi "taiteellinen" siihen ;) ). Syksyn aikana kuitenkin katselin Kate Cranen art journaling-DVD:itä, haalin maaleja ja muita tykötarpeita ja loppuvuodesta tein sivun tai pari. Ja sitten ajattelin "nollasta sataan" -asenteella ;) osallistua tänä vuonna Katen 366 Challengeen... Hieman jännittää.. Olen katsellut muiden viime vuonna osallistuneiden kalenterisivuja ja ne olivat mielettömän kauniita, tuntuukin vähän hassulta esitellä omaa sivua muiden upeiden sivujen seurassa... Mutta eiköhän se tästä, kai tämänkin oppii - ainakin jotenkin! ;)

Thought I'd start the new year with some new ideas and art forms... For a long time I've admired the art journal pages that I've seen in other's blogs but somehow have felt too shy to try it myself (don't feel I'm "artistic" enough for art journaling... ;) ). But last autumn I purchased the Kate Crane art journaling DVDs, got some basic materials and even made a couple of pages in December. Now I thought "all or nothing" ;) and decided to take part in Kate's 366 Challenge - talk about jumping in feet first... hee hee! I'm a bit (well, A LOT) nervous as I've seen some of the pages people have made for their calendars last year and I'm not sure mine's up for scratch.. But I guess I'll learn during the year!

Tässä se siis tulee, ensimmäinen art journal -sivu, jonka olen täällä blogissa julkaissut! TA-DAA!

So here it comes, the first ever art journal page that I've blogged about in my little blog! TA-DAA!

Tässä pelkkä sivu ilman kalenteriruutuja / Here's the page without the journaling squares:

Yhtäkään leimasinta en tähän käyttänyt (hassua tehdä jotain ilman leimasimia!), pelkästään akryylimaaleja (Dylusions) eri tavoin levitettyinä, stanssattuja kirjaimia ja numeroita, Tattered Angels -suihketta (sivu 'kiiltelee' kauniisti vaikka se ei kuvasta näy) ja kuivapastellikyniä.

I didn't use any stamps for this page (it felt so weird crafting without stamps!), just acrylic paints (mostly Dylusions) applied in different manners, diecut letters and numbers, Tattered Angels glimmer mist (yep, the page glimmers nicely but you can't see it in the piccies...) and some pastel pencils.

Että sellaista... Sanos (rehellisesti! ;) ), mitä mieltä olet! Niin, ja kiitos, kun käväisit ja kiitos, jos mielipiteesi kerrot! Mukavaa vuoden alkua! :)
