Bookmarks - Kirjanmerkkejä

My 9-year-old son needed some bookmarks so I made him two. These are about 15 x 6 cm in size. For the first one, I sponged some Distress Oxide inks in Peacock Feathers and Frayed Burlap onto watercolour paper and splattered it with some water.  I coloured the bunny from Penny Black set Special Friends with my Copics and die cut him out. The banner is from the same set and coloured with Copics as well. I stamped my son's name on the banner with letters from the Penny Black set Kate's Alphabet. The grass is die cut with Penny Black's Garden Edgers die and the star garland with String of Stars die (I used glitter cardstock in gold for the stars, they're more bright and glittery in real life than in the photo). Lastly, I mounted the watercolour panel onto some kraft cardstock, attached everything in place and rounded the corners of the bookmark with a Corner Chomper.

For the second bookmark, I made the background using an old cloud shaped price tag as a mask and sponged some Distress Oxide ink in Peacock Feathers to create the clouds. The hot air balloon is from the Lawn Fawn set Blue Skies and I coloured it with my Polychromos pencils. I used Paper Smooches letter stamps from the set Alphadot to stamp my son's name. I mounted this bookmark also on some kraft cardstock and rounded the corners with a Corner Chomper.

Tein pari kirjanmerkkiä pojalleni, nämä ovat n. 15 x 6 cm. Ensimmäisessä käytin Penny Blackin tuotteita. Pupu ja banneri on Special Friends -setistä ja Copiceilla väritettyjä. Taustan tein Distress Oxide -musteilla ja vettä roiskimalla. Ruoho on Garden Edgers -stanssilla stanssattu ja tähtinauha String of Stars -stanssilla. Pojan nimen leimasin Kate's Alphabet -setin aakkosilla. Toisen kirjanmerkin taustan tein vanhalla pilvenmuotoisella hintalapulla ja Distress Oxide -musteella. Kuumailmapallo on Lawn Fawnin Blue Skies -setistä ja Polychromoksilla väritetty. Nimen tähän leimasin Paper Smoochesin Alphadot -aakkosilla.

Lukiessa valaistuu - A bookmark

Pyäreetä P*skikseen! Elikkä P*skarteluhaasteessa haluttiin pyöreitä muotoja ja tässä minun vastaukseni haasteeseen. Tein pienenä kiitoslahjana anopille kirjanmerkin, johon leimasin ja discomustalla embossasin Inkadinkadon lyhdyn (lukiessa valaistuu! ;) ). Keltaisen pohjavärin sain levittämällä Distress Inkin Wild Honey -mustetta, kirjanmerkin pohjana on kiiltävää ColorCorea. Koristeeksi vielä pieni metallikillutin ja vedenvärinen paljetti ja pieni kirjanmerkki oli valmis.

I made this bookmark for my mother-in-law as a small thank you present. I stamped and embossed the Inkadinkado lantern with sparkly black embossing powder, the yellow colour underneath is Distress Ink Wild Honey. The shiny yellow cardstock is by ColorCore. As embellies there are a metal tag and a sequin. I submit this to the Finnish challenge blog P*skarteluhaaste where the challenge is to use round shapes.

Lukeminen kannattaa aina - The joys of reading

Äitini halusi lainata minulta kirjan ja koska olen jo jonkin aikaa halunnut kokeilla kirjanmerkin tekoa, tein siihen mukaan yhden Maissin ohjeiden mukaan. Itse kirjanmerkki on ColorCore-kartonkia, jonka alareunan leikkasin Marthan leikkurilla. Paperi on BasicGreytä ja leimakuva Sugar Nellien Cherubista leikattu enkeli, jonka väritin Distress Inkeillä. Enkelin siipiin lisäsin hieman Stickles-liimaa, jonka levitin pumpulipuikolla, näin se ei jäänyt koholle vaan sain siipiin pelkän kimalteen. Ruusut on tehty Sizzixin ruusustanssilla ja niissä on taas hieman Glimmer Mistiä ja helmet keskustoina, lehdet on leikattu Marthan leikkurilla. Laitoin kirjanmerkkiin lisäksi hieman ruskeaa rautalankaa (ostin sitä Minimanista, se on ilmeisesti tarkoitettu kukkien sitomiseen (?) ja on todella jäykkää) ja rautalankakiehkuroiden päihin laitoin tipat Glossy Accentsia, ettei kiehkuroiden terävillä päillä repisi sormiaan tai kirjan sivuja.

My mother wanted to borrow one of my books and as I've been wanting to try and make a bookmark, I made one to go with the book (instructions here).  The bookmark itself is made from ColorCore cardstock and I punched it with a Martha Stewart punch. The paper is by BasicGrey and the stamp used is Cherub by Sugar Nellie (I cut out the angel as I only needed her for this bookmark), I coloured her with Distress Inks. I applied some Stickles glue to her wings with a cotton bud, this way the glue dried out really flat. The roses are made with a Sizzix die, I sprayed some Glimmer Mist on them and applied pearls as their centres. The leaves are punched with a Martha Stewart punch. I also added some brown metal wire to the bookmark (I think it's binding wire meant for binding flowers) and as the ends of the metal wire swirls were really sharp, I added drops of Glossy Accents to them so that one doesn't hurt one's fingers or rip the pages of a book with them.

Kirjanmerkin kääntöpuolen leimasin Hero Artsin taustaleimalla ja embossasin kirkkaalla jauheella. En halunnut erityisesti koristella takaosaa mutta en viitsinyt jättää sitä tyhjäksikään, joten näin sinne tuli edes jotain.

I stamped the backside of the bookmark with a Hero Arts stamp and embossed it with clear powder. I didn't really want to leave the backside empty so this was a simple way of decorating it.

Kiitos muuten vinkeistä sen kopiopaperin suhteen! Käväisimme eilen kaupungilla ja tarkoitukseni oli sitä etsiä mutta se jäänee toiseen kertaan, siihen kertaan siis, kun muistan, mitä oikein olen etsimässä... ;D Uuden paperiveitsen kyllä hankin ja sekin jo paransi tilannetta, tuo entinen taisikin olla jo melko tylsä.
