Happy happy joy joy!

Tein tähdellisen CAS-kortin uusilla ihanilla tähtileimoillani ja sain idean laittaa tuon tähden kortin sisälle näkymään kannen aukosta, kun huomasin, että osa näistä Artistic Stamperin tähtileimoista menee yksiin Spellbindersin tähtistanssien kanssa (ja ihan totta, tein kortin tiistaina ja minkälainen kortti olikaan yksi mallikorteista eilisessä CAS-kurssipäivässä? Aukollinen kortti, jossa oli leimakuva kortin sisällä! Ha, kerrankin olen edellä aikaani! ;D ). Taitoin siis korttipohjan akvarellipaperista, stanssasin siihen tähden ja leimasin stanssattuun tähteen tähden (kuullostaa todella järkevältä... ;) ) Distressillä ja ennen leimaamista suihkin päälle perfect pearls -vettä. Kanteen stanssasin pienemmän tähden ja tein siitä kohollaan olevan liimaamalla päällekkäin monta stanssattua tähteä. Näin sen saa koholle korttipohjasta mutta tähden alla ei näy sivusta katsottaessa aukkoa ja tarrapaloja vaan siisti valkoinen reuna - kurssilla opittu kikka tämäkin! Tekstiksi leimasin - tavoistani poiketen... - PTI:n tekstin, kun niitä suomenkielisiä ei nyt ole.... *nurinaa nurinaa* Tuleeko muuten kellekään muulle mieleen tuosta happy happy joy joy:sta yksi parhaista piirrossarjoista ikinä, Ren & Stimpy? Se oli niin hyvä, saisi kyllä tulla uusintana!

I made a little star card for the CAS course with my new lovely star stamps. I got the idea to place the star inside the card when I noticed that some of these star stamps by The Artistic Stamper go together with the Spellbinders star dies (and honestly, I made this card on Tuesday and guess what kind of card was one of the model cards yesterday in the CAS course? A window card with the stamped image placed inside the card! So ha, at least once in my life I am ahead of my times! ;D ). Anyways, I folded the card from aquarelle paper, die cut the star and then stamped a star on the die cut with a Distress Ink and before stamping, I misted the rubber stamp with pearlized water. I placed the star on the inside of the card, added another star on the front which I made 3D by glueing several die cut stars on top of each other. You get the same effect with foam pads but this way, when you look at it from the side, you just see a clean white edge instead of a 'hole' and foam pads. That's one trick I learned on the course! I finished the card with the PTI sentiment - does it remind you of Ren & Stimpy, the cartoon? I LOVED that cartoon, it was the best ever!!

Ilmava - Airy and light

Pikaisesti taas näytille CAS-kortti. Tein tämänkin luonnoksen pohjalta, tosin jätin tekstileiman pois (se olisi tullut tuohon nauhan yläpuolelle). Tähän yksinkertaisesti maskasin kortin reunat post-it-lapuilla, leimasin Hero Artsin Flourish Backgroundin mustalla, poistin laput ja lisäsin satiininauhan ja napin. Ajattelin ensin, että lisäisin jonkinlaisen reunan/boordin tuon leimatun keskiosan reunoilla rajaamaan sitä, mutta jätin sen sitten kuitenkin noin. Mielestäni tausta on ilmavampi ilman reunaa ja näyttää kivemmalta.

Just a quick post for Sunday to show you another quick CAS card I made. I used a sketch for this although I left out the sentiment (according to the sketch, its place would be just above the ribbon). I masked the edges of this card with post-it notes, then stamped it with Hero Arts Flourish Background, removed the post-its and added the satin ribbon and the button. At first I thought I'd add some sort of frame/boorder to outline the stamped center of the card, but then in the end I left it out. I think the card is lighter and more airy this way and I like it better.

Kolmiota tai sitten ei - Visual triangle and then again not

Toissapäivänä CAS-kurssilla oli Julie Ebersolen videon vuoro ja siinä oli puhetta mm. katseen kulusta kortissa eli ns. 'visual trianglesta' (hurraa fingelska! ;D ). Kortin elementtien pitäisi siis tavallaan johdattaa silmää luontevasti eri osasta toiseen ilman, että mitään osaa pitää erikseen katsoa. Esimerkkikortissa Julie noudatti tuota visual trianglea ja minäpä tein taas korttini mallin mukaan ;) Ja varsin nättihän tästä tuli ;D Lehtileima on Papertrey Inkin ja tekstileima on Stempelkelleriltä.

The other day over at the CAS course it was Julie Ebersole's turn to teach us and she talked about how the eye wanders around a card and how it forms a sort of a visual triangle. She had made her card using the triangle placement and I mimicked her card ;) And, surprise surprise, it turned out quite nice! ;) The leaf stamp I used is by Papertrey Ink and the sentiment says something like 'the requirement for happiness is not good luck but courage'.

Tein myöhemmin sitten vielä toisen kortin, jossa en huomannut soveltaa tuota kolmiota (muisti kuin kanan lento? ;) ). Tulihan tästäkin ihan kiva mutta ehkä se olisi tosiaan tarvinnut jotain lisää ollakseen parempi. Mutta onpahan nyt ainakin CAS! Leimat Papertrey Inkia ja FinnStamperia.

Later on I made another card and forgot all about the visual triangle (yes, my memory is good... LOL!). It turned out an OK card but maybe it lacks something, there should've been perhaps a smaller stamped doily to form the triangle. But at least it is CAS! The doily stamp is by Papertrey Ink and the sentiment says 'thank you'.

Sassafrassia ja aurinkoa - Sunny Sassafras

Olen nyt sen verran vauhdissa näiden korttien kanssa, että postaan jo toistamiseen tänään! :)  Tämäkin on 'kurssikortti' CAS-kurssille mutta tällä kertaa ihan oman pään mukaan tehty, ei luonnoksen mukaan, ja vieläpä ns. one layer card, jotka ovat aavistuksen pelottavia mielestäni (yleensä viime metreillä aina jotenkin sotken tällaiset kortit, ellei muuten niin sitten saamalla mustetta sormeen ja siitä korttiin...!). Leikkasin tätä varten neliökortin hieman pienemmäksi (n. 10x14 cm) ja leimasin Distresseillä Sassafras Lassin boordileiman kolmeen kertaan. Tekstiksi leimasin onnea, koska se oli oikean kokoinen ja tyylinen leima tähän korttiin. Jotenkin itse tykkään tästä kortista, nuo värit ovat mukavan aurinkoiset ja boordileima iloinen - simppeli ja iloinen kortti siis!

I'm on a roll with these cards so I'll post another one for today :) This is also a card made for the CAS course but for this I didn't follow any given sketch, I masterminded the whole card myself! (Wohoo! LOL! ;D ) I even surprised myself by making it a one layer card (these cards usually scare me because I always end up messing them up, you know how it goes, inky fingers make a mess... ;) ). I cut a square card blank a little smaller (about 10x14 cm) and then stamped a Sassafras Lass border stamp three times with different Distress Inks. Then I just added the sentiment ('congrats'). I think this turned out a cheery little card, I kinda like it! :)

Napillinen CAS - CAS and a button

Ja lisää CAS-yritelmää.. Tämäkin on luonnoksen mukaan tehty ja tykkään kyllä kortin eri osista mutta en oikein tiedä, toimiiko kokonaisuus vai onko se turhan 'raskas' vasemmalta. Mutta eikö olekin ihana nappi?! Ostin joku aika sitten eräästä osto- ja myyntiliikkeestä laatikollisen vanhoja nappeja muutamalla eurolla ja maltoin jopa käyttää yhden napeista tähän ;) Mutta on se herkku, eikö? :) Paperin olen saanut, joten valmistajaa en tiedä (mutta sekin on ihana ;) ), nauha on tavallista satiininauhaa ja tekstileima FinnStamperilta. Olen muuten hieman harmitellut suomenkielisiä tekstileimasimia, toivoisin niin kovasti löytäväni tyylikkäitä (tyylikkäällä, ei siis hauskalla tai söpöllä, fontilla) tekstileimasimia muillakin teksteillä kuin onnea tai kiitos tai niiden variaatioilla mutta tuntuu, ettei niitä löydy. Esim. Hero Artsilla ja Papertrey Inkillä on todella kauniita tekstileimoja erilaisilla teksteillä ja sen tyylisiä haluaisin suomenkielisinäkin (tuntuisi jotenkin hassulta käyttää englanninkielisiä leimoja omissa korteissa, joten en ole noita Heroja yms. ostanut). Ja vielä kun olisivat akryylileimoja niin kaikki olisi kohdillaan. Vinkkejä siis otetaan vastaan! ;)

Another day, another CAS card. This is also for the Clean and Simple course and made using a sketch. I love the different elements of this card but I'm not sure if the whole card 'works' or not, maybe it's a bit heavy on the left side (maybe the paper is too busy?)? But what do you think of the button, isn't it gorgeous?! Some time ago I bought a box full of buttons from an antique/secondhand shop for basically nothing - what a find! :) This button is one of those buttons. I don't know the manufacturer of the paper but it's pretty too :) The satin ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment says 'congrats'.

Taas jotain uutta - Something new, again

Tässä alkaa pian mennä pää pyörälle... Ensin yritän opetella art journalingia ja maalata, leimata, kerrostaa, saada aikaan tekstuuria ja runsautta ja nyt yritän opetella päinvastaista! Osallistun nimittäin Clean and Simple -nettikorttikurssille ja yritän opetella CAS-tyyliä. Tuntuu, että olen itse luontaisesti jossain ylettömän runsaan ja ylettömän pelkistetyn tyylin välimaastossa, joten töitä tämä teettää... Kurssi alkoi eilen ja heti alkajaisiksi kopioin Kristina Wernerin kortin! ;D No, leimat yms ovat tietenkin erit mutta luonnos on hänen. Leimasin korttipohjan Hero Artsin Flourish Backgroundilla, maskasin samalla keskelle tuon tyhjän neliön ja embossasin tekstileiman valkoisella, lisäsin kukat ja valkoisella kynällä raamit neliölle. Helppoa! (Varsinkin kun matkii toista siis.. ;D ;D )

I feel like I'm starting to get confused here... Lately I've been trying to learn to art journal, I'm adding paint, stamped images, layers, textures - and now I'm trying to do the complete opposite! I'm taking part in the Clean and Simple card course and trying to learn the oh-so-difficult CAS style. I feel like I'm naturally somewhere in the midground between the extremely 'full' style and the extremely clean and streamlined style so this is not too easy for me. Anyways, the course started yesterday and I begun by 'lifting' Kristina Werner's card! ;D Well, the supplies are different of course but I used the sketch provided by her. I stamped the background with the Flourish Background by Hero Arts while masking the square in the middle, embossed the sentiment (which says 'for a friend') with white embossing powder, added the flowers and tiny pearls and outlined the square in the middle with white pen.
