I Never Dare

Yleisön pyynnöstä ;) lisää journal-sivuja (tosin sitä mukaa, kun näitä laitan, vähenee lukijat tuosta oikean puolen laatikosta... Hmm...). Tuossa syksyn puolella sain postissa paksun kirjekuoren Englannista ja mietin jo kuumeisesti, mitä ihmettä olin tilannut ja unohtanut tilanneeni. No, homma selvisi, kun avasin kuoren: se oli arvontavoitto Craft Stamper -lehdestä, 8 settiä uusia Lynne Perrella -leimasimia! :) En ole ehtinyt niitä käyttää tätä ennen, mutta nyt tässä nuo tytsyt on yksi niistä uusista leimasimista. Muuten tässä sivussa on taas vähän sitä sun tätä: kuviopaperisuikaleita, paloja lehden ja kirjan sivuista, gessoa, washiteippiä, sabluunaa ja Distress Inkiä, Distress Stainia, leimasimia jne. Ja lopputulos on taas tällainen :)

Another page from my art journal. It seems that when I post these pages here, I lose a follower or two but I think I'll post them anyway... ;) Last autumn I received a big fat envelope from the UK in the post. Naturally, I thought what on earth had I ordered now and from where and how come I had forgotten about it. Well, when I opened the envelope it turned out that it was a giveaway prize from the Craft Stamper magazine: 8 sets of new Lynne Perrella rubber stamps! Wohoo! I haven't had the chance to use them until now, here the row of the ladies is one of the new stamps. Otherwise this page has a bit of this and a bit of that again: scraps of patterned paper, pieces of magazine and book pages, some gesso, some washi tape, a stencil used with some Distress Ink, some Distress Stain, rubber stamps, etc. And the outcome is as follows :)

Silly Nelly

Vaihteeksi hieman art journalia... Tähän sivuun on mennyt kaikenlaista: revitty pala kirjansivua, gessoa, akryylimaaleja, modeling pastea sabluunan läpi, washiteippiä, maalarinteippiä, leimakuva (Zettiologyn ihana kissa), Prismacolor-kynää jne, jne, ja kokonaisuus on... no, tällainen :)

A page from my art journal... For this page I used a bit of everything: a torn page of a book, some gesso, some acrylic paint, some modeling paste applied thru a stencil, some washi tape, some ordinary masking tape, a stamped image (the lovely cat face by Zettiology), some Prismacolor pencils etc., etc., and the end result is... well, see for yourself :)

Top10 & Top3

Mikäs sen parempi tapa aloittaa uusi vuosi kuin katsoa taaksepäin, eikö? ;D Ajattelin minäkin tehdä tällaisen top10-postauksen ja hieman katsoa, mitä on tullut vuoden aikana tehtyä. Valikoin tähän ihan vain fiiliksellä ne tekeleet, jotka eniten miellyttivät itseäni ilman sen kummempia kriteereitä. Vertailin näitä aikaisempien vuosien top10-listoihin (top10 2011, top10 2010) enkä rehellisesti sanoen tiedä, onko sen kummempaa edistystä taidoissa tapahtunut. Jotenkin tuntuu, että tyylistä on tullut vähän yksinkertaisempi (karumpi?) - se, onko se hyvä vai huono juttu, on sitten eri asia... Pitäisiköhän tälle vuodelle ottaa tavoitteeksi kehittää taitoja enemmän ja opetella uusia tekniikoita..? Mutta tässä top10, joka taitaa olla aikajärjestyksessä vanhemmasta nuorempaan.

The best way to start a new year is to look back, right? LOL! Well, that's what I'll do now as I decided to blog my 'top10' cards of 2012 and see what I've been doing this year. For this review I chose cards and other makes just by the simple fact that there's something I like about them. I compared this list with previous years' lists (my top10 2011, my top10 2010) and honestly, I'm not sure if there's any improvement in my skills. Maybe one change is that my style has become a bit simpler, whether that is a good or a bad thing - I don't know. Maybe my crafty New Year's resolution could be to learn new techniques and to try and improve myself craft-wise..? Anyways, here comes the top10 of 2012.

 Koska tänä vuonna on tullut tehtyä muutama art journal -sivukin, laitan niistä oman top3-listan ihan satunnaisessa järjestyksessä.

I've tried my hand in art journaling this year so I decided to make a top3 list of my favourite art journal pages.

 (Tämä viimeinen on tavallaan pojan kanssa yhdessä tehty sivu, tuo piirrustus sydämen sisällä on hänen tekemänsä :)

This last page is a kind of a collaboration with my son, the drawing inside the heart is his :) )

Sellaiset katsaukset viime vuoteen. Toivottavasti tällekin vuodelle saan jotain askarteluja aikaan, saattaa tosin olla, että tämä pieni ihminen selkärankani ja napani välissä laittaa hieman aikatauluja uusiksi.... :)

Ok, those were my top10 and top3 lists of 2012, hope you enjoyed them. I'm hoping that I'll get something crafty done this year, too, although I have an inkling that this little person inside me will re-arrange my schedules quite a lot and reduce my crafty time... :)

Kortteja, kortteja, joulukortteja! - Christmas cards galore!

Joulu oli ja meni ja mitäpä sitä muuta haluaisi nähdä kuin joulukortteja... ;D En ehtinyt postata niitä ennen joulua, joten nyt tulisi sitten joulukorttia joulukortin päälle. Loppuvaiheessa ennen joulua tein joulukortteja sitä tahtia, etten edes ottanut niistä enää kuvia, joten tässä on vain osa tämän vuoden joulukorttimalleista. Laitan ne kaikki yhteen syssyyn ilman sen kummempia selityksiä; jos jokin niissä mietityttää, niin kysy pois!

Would you like to see some... Christmas cards?! ;D I didn't have any time to blog them before Christmas so here they come all in one blog post. Although, I have to say these piccies don't include all the Christmas cards I made, just before Christmas I was making them in such a frenzied manner that I didn't even have the time to photograph them. Jo on ollut joulukuu sellaista haipakkaa, etten edes blogia ole ehtinyt päivittää. Nyt on kuitenkin ihana joulu ja aika vain olla, joten korttien kanssa palaan myöhemmin. Ihanaa, kaunista ja rentouttavaa joulua sinulle! :)

Well, I've been truly busy this December, I haven't even had the chance to blog. But now it's Christmas (yay!) and time to enjoy all things Christmassy so I'll be back with cards later. I just wanted to come by and wish you a very merry Christmas. Hope all your dreams come true! :)

Lumihiutale - Snowflake

Ja palataas taas joulukortteihin... Tähän korttiin tein varsin blingbling lumihiutaleen liimaamalla ensin kartongille kaksipuolista superteippiä, stanssaamalla lumihiutaleen Cuttlebugin stanssilla ja sitten "uittamalla" hiutaletta irtohileessä. Sen jälkeen kävin vielä hiutaleen läpi taittotyökalulla, jotta glitteri varmasti tarttuisi kunnolla kiinni. Taustapaperin leimasin The Artistic Stamperin taustaleimalla, siniseen kartonkiin stanssasin osittaisen ympyrän, jonka "sisälle" sitten laitoin hiutaleen. Kiinnitin kartongin tarrapaloilla, jotta sain korttiin hieman kolmiulotteisuutta. Koristeena hieman leipurin nyöriä ja tekstileimana Stempelkellerin hiutale-teksti.

Here's a 'snowy' Christmas card for you. For this card, I made the snowflake by attaching a sheet of super tape onto a piece of cardstock, die cutting the snowflake with a Cuttlebug die and then pouring heaps of glitter onto the snowflake. I made sure the glitter stuck by 'sweeping' the snowflake with a bone folder. I wanted the snowflake to be the centre of attention so I cut a half circle out of the blue cardstock and attached the flake into the die cut circle. I attached the blue cardstock itself with foam pads to get a bit of 3D effect going. I stamped the background paper with a stamp by The Artistic Stamper. As embellie, there's a piece of baker's twine. The sentiment is in Finnish.

Joulukalenteri - Advent calendar

Maailman Suloisimmalla Pienellä Pojalla on tänä vuonna ensimmäistä kertaa joulukalenteri. Sellaistahan ei voi kaupasta ostaa (eihän?), joten tuunasin sitten tällaisen kalenteriksi. Tuo pahvilaatikosto on ostettu aikaa sitten Heinikasta, kaikki käytetyt paperit ovat Echo Parkin Holly Jolly Christmas -paperikosta ja koristeet ovat sarjaa 'sekalainen seurakunta'. Tuohon kalenteriin sitten tonttu tuo pienen lahjan joka päivälle... ;)

This year The Cutest Little Boy in the World (also known as our son :) ) has an advent calendar for the first time and I just couldn't buy one from a shop, could I? No, I made one myself :) I bought that little cardboard 'drawer' some time ago (last year? year before that?) with an advent calendar in mind, and now I just decorated it. All the papers I used are by Echo Park (the Holly Jolly Christmas series) and the embellies are 'a bit of this and a bit of that'. And as by magic, every night a little elf brings a little gift for our son and puts it in the calendar for him to find... ;)
