I think there's something you should know

En ole tehnyt art journal -sivuja pitkään aikaan (erinäisistä syistä) ja sitä on ollut niin ikävä. Ja koska haasteilla on hyvä aloittaa pitkän tauon jälkeen ;) niin ajattelin osallistua Mixed Media Placen haasteeseen, Summer Music, jossa ensimmäisenä inspiraatiobiisinä on George Michaelin 'Freedom'. Sehän ei olekaan kuin yksi lempparibiiseistäni :) Maalasin sormilla, lisäsin sitä, tätä ja tuota, otin pois sitä, tätä ja tuota, suihkin ja säihkin ja loppuviimein sivusta muotoutui paljon tummempi kuin alunperin ajattelin. Ajatuksena tässä oli tuo yksi rivi, 'I think there's something you should know', ja siitä syntyi tämä sivu.

I haven't done any art journaling for the longest time (for various reasons) and I've missed it like mad! Now, finally, I got my fingers dirty and made a page for the Mixed Media Place challenge 'Summer Music' where the inspiration comes from the George Michael song 'Freedom'. It happens to be one of my favourite songs :) and that one line 'I think there's something you should know' was my inspiration for this page. I finger painted, I added things and took off things, I stamped and misted, etc etc, and in the end the page became much darker than I originally thought. It is what it is, with a deeper meaning or without any meaning at all, but as I said, I haven't art journalled for ages so please, don't look too carefully at it! ;)

Kultaa ja höyheniä - Golden feathers

Kultaa, kultaa, kultaa... Taustaan embossasin kultaisia raitoja kohojauheen ja sabluunan avulla ja höyhenet leimasin, embossasin ja stanssasin Hero Artseilla vellumille. Lisäksi muutama kultainen paljetti ja mustia roiskeita ja siinäpä se. Simppeli kortti kultaa täynnä! :D

Gold, gold, gold... and not much else on this card! ;) I heat embossed the gold stripes on the background with some embossing powder and a Crafter's Workshop stencil. The feathers are stamped, heat embossed and die cut with Hero Arts stamps and dies on vellum. Then I just added some golden sequins and black ink splatters and called it a card :)

Soon moro! - Hello!

Ostin Avery Ellen Modern Leaves -leimat tuossa joku aika sitten ja tässä on ensimmäinen kortti niillä. Tykkään tällaisista graafisista leimoista todella paljon, mutta en todellakaan tunne osaavani käyttää niitä, sillä olen aika huono "rakentamaan" leimoilla mitään (jos ymmärrätte, mitä tarkoitan? :) ). Mutta tämä nyt tuli leimailtua Heron musteilla ja AE:n leimoilla, lisänä hieman kerrostusta mustalle kartongille ja korttipohjalle ja jokunen enamel dots.

I bought the lovely Modern Leaves stamps by Avery Elle some time ago and this is my first card with them. I really like graphic, bold stamps like the ones in this set but I honestly feel I'm not too good using them. I guess my mind just isn't "graphic friendly"! Ha ha! But anyways, I stamped this with the Avery Elle stamps and Hero Arts Shadow Inks, matted onto some black cardstock and then onto the card base and added some enamel dots as embellies. Hope you like it!

Ystäväpariskunnan toinen osapuoli täytti 40 vuotta, joten synttärikortille oli tilausta. Ja mikäpä sitä paremmin tällaiseen korttiin sopisi kuin tämä Art Impressionsin suloinen setä? :D Käytin korttiin luonnosta CAS(E) this Sketch! -haasteesta, pyöräytin sitä vain hieman. Leimakuvan väritin Distress Markereilla ja numerot on stanssattu Timpan stanssilla. Paljon muuta siinä ei olekaan!

A friend of ours turned 40 and we needed a birthday card for him. I decided to use this Art Impressions stamp again - I seem to use it pretty much every time I make a 40th birthday card for a male friend... I just hope they find it as funny as I do! :D I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge, I just rotated it a bit to get the focal point to the corner on lower right. I coloured the image with Distress Markers on watercolour paper and die cut the numbers with a Tim Holtz die.

Valokeilassa - In the Spotlight

Tein tämän kortin jo viime viikolla Simon Says Stampin haasteeseen, mutta ehdin vasta nyt sitä bloggaamaan. Ajattelin siis pitkästä aikaa kokeilla spotlight-tekniikkaa. Embossasin korttipohjaan Hero Artsin Large Flower Backgroundin valkoisella jauheella ja tein sitten saman vesiväripaperille. Vesiväripaperista sitten stanssasin ympyrän ja väritin siitä kukan ja taustan Twinkling H2O-vesiväreillä. Embossasin vellumille FinnStamperin tekstin (tuo fontti on niiiin ihana! :) ), kiinnitin sen korttipohjaan, ympyrän päälle kohotarroilla ja sitten vielä kulmien pyöristys.

I made this card already last week for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and I thought I'd better blog it before the challenge closes! :) I've tried the spotlight technique previously (some years ago, I think?) and I thought I'd try it again. So I heat embossed the gorgeous Large Flower Background by Hero Arts on my card base and did the same on some watercolour paper. Then I die cut the circle from the heat embossed watercolour paper and colour it with some Twinkling H2O watercolours. I heat embossed my greeting (it says 'Congrats') on a strip of vellum and adhered to my card base, and then adhered the circle with some foam adhesives. Lastly, I simply rounded the opposing corners with my Corner Chomper.

Upotettu stanssaus - Die Cut Inlay

Blogissa on pitänyt pientä hiljaisuutta, mutta kesä ja kuumuus ovat ajaneet kortteilun edelle. Myös askarteluhuoneen muutto vei aikansa mutta on nyt valmis (jee! :D ). Tässä näytille ensimmäinen uudessa askarteluhuoneessa (ent. vaatehuoneessa...) tehty kortti. Olen jo pitemmän aikaa ajatellut kokeilla upotettua stanssausta ja nyt, kun se on P*skarteluhaasteessa aiheena, sain kokeiluni käyntiin. Stanssasin Memory Boxin Arboscello Tree -stanssilla puun valkoiselle kartongille ja samaisen puun violetista kartongista ja istutin sen valkoisen kartongin aukkoon. Sitten vain tekstileimaa (FinnStamper) vellumille ja kiinnitys kohotarralla korttipohjaan. Puuhun laitoin vielä muutaman tirpan istumaan (stanssasin ne Memory Boxin Resting Birds -stanssilla ja laitoin päälle vielä kirkasta Wink of Stellaa). Siinäpä se :)

It's been a bit quiet here on the blog lately but I've been busy enjoying summer and the warmth (or should I say 'heat' as we have +28 degrees in the shade... phew!). Also my craft room move took its time but that is now over, done and finished - I've officially moved my crafty room with all its belongings from one room into another (read: into a walk-in closet :D ). I've had time to craft in my new room as well and I made this card. I've wanted to try the die cut inlay technique for a while now and finally did so (prompted by the current challenge over at P*skarteluhaaste blog). The die I used is called Arboscello Tree and it's by Memory Box as is the Resting Birds die I used to die cut the little birds on the tree (there's some clear Wink of Stella on the birds so they look pretty and glittery :) ). The sentiment on the strip of vellum says 'Best wishes on your birthday'. The textured cardstock is by Papermania and American Crafts. The white panel is raised as it is attached with foam adhesives.
